Thanks Sing'n.......that was the kind of info I was looking for......but anymore about the different types/schools of thought out there? "Usui or Traditional Japanese, Tibetan, Mayan, Karuna, Violet Fire or Kuan Yin all being forms in practice now." Can you or anyone else expand on these different forms of practice?

I think we are drawn to what we most need in life, or we draw it to ourselves. I got so much of what I am needing from reading this thread today. I have been in need of healing for some time, in a grief/depression state -- and I came across the page about lepidilite -- and I have a beautiful cuff bracelet and earrings of lepidilite -- badly tarnished when I located them today, but polished brightly now and adorning my wrist and ears -- and I feel a bit better slready. Then there is the flow of energy -- feng shui -- in my home -- or lack thereof is more like it. It will take longer to access that healing, but I have made a start.
So there was a question (in my mind) about what I had to offer -- to give back...
I do not practice anything covered in this thread professionally, but my insatiable curiosity has led to a self-study on most of it and >300 hours of formal study of NLP. Red (I think) had a question as to whether anyone had any experience with NLP. It has been quite a number of years since I studied it, but it is something that became a part of me. Neuro-linguistic programming is a group of models to identify ways of thinking and to "reprogram" the brain (neuro) mostly through deliberate languaging (linguistic). This is my interpretation btw, of NLP as I remember and have used it -- if you go to search it on the web, you may find different definitions. The major purpose of NLP is to give people more choices -- among them, one that is desirable. I think it works very well with concepts of resonance, because language to us is most often words -- which have vibration.
A simple example of NLP in action may be to retrain yourself or loved ones who say "I AM ______" (fill in anything undesirable -- stupid, silly, fat, clumsy, uncoordinated, poor at spelling and grammar....) to "I sometimes DO _____" (stupid things, silly things, poorly at making food choices, or rush to eat things I don't really enjoy, act clumsy or uncoordinated, spell poorly). If you ARE something undesirable, there is a question of changing YOU. If you are DOING something undesirable, you can choose to change your behavior.
I often flinch when I hear people putting themselves down. NLP is also stepping away from yourself -- becomng meta -- an observer -- and being your own best friend -- being at least as forgiving and generous to yourself as you would be to your best friend.

I am Usui. Madame Tanaka. The Reiki I do is non traditional......traditional takes years and years and the traditionalist believe that the non traditionalist are "charlattans" the cost of a Reiki Mastership used to be set at 10,000 dollars. Mine cost me a pretty rock......lliterally a pretty stone. My master worked with me in the interest of healing and attuned me thru all three levels for pretty stones like river rock not diamonds......and worked with me.
This is what I would do Red and Annie. I love the church called Unity not Unitarian Universalists but Unity. A LOT of those, not all, of those churches have Reiki circles that meet after church service or on Wednesday night. I am all for having someone find a master especially one they can work with. Believe it or not I send a lot of Reiki thru the computer screen ......its hooked up all over the world and I have had a picture of the recepient to go by and envisoned Reiki engergy flowing into them.
Here is the kicker. While my Reiki flows pretty well MY Master whom I am still in touch with, her energy gets HOT I mean HOT. Mine gets intense sometimes but some get very hot. Anyone, I believe can send energy by focusing on the person and affirming the sending of healing energy to one another. The important thing is to communicate that to someone that is willing to send you energy. If someone has asked me to send them energy I have always done it. If you don't put it out there to the universe......the universe doesn't know that you need help.
So put it out there......do an affirmation that you are willing to accept someone to come into your life to help you become more healing......something like that. Do affirmations........all kinds of stuff. Check out the Unity churches. If they seem a little different than regular churches...........you must be in the right place.
Lastly welcome Lacy....glad you found us and more will also now that the forums have changed keep coming back my friend.

Thanks for the NLP brief Lacy! Just what I was looking for! Oh.....and I am sooooo jealous......about your lovely purple cuff and earrings...... I have a couple loose stones........but never have seen any set in jewlery to date......I have some lovely charolite......some of my fav pieces! I enjoy the coloured stones.......such variety!

Red I call the cuff "my Taos T-shirt". While shopping in Taos after a wonderful week backpacking in Wheeler Peak Wilderness with the Sierra Club, I found a lovely collection of lepidilite jewelry in a trading post there. When I put on the cuff -- it shouted my name. Most of the rest of the group bought T-shirts...I bought the cuff. I lost one of the original earrings I bought, and looked and asked in many jewelry stores, pueblos and trading posts for a replacement, but had to go back to Taos before I found any more lepidilite jewelry.
Beach I am definitely open to receiving energy/healing through my computer monitor. I am at a point where I will accept gladly any help that is offered.

Namaste! Count me in. White light to all of you. I believe, as does the master who attuned me, that merely thinking about the person is enough to get the energy there. I mean, it's THERE already, so it's just a matter of directing intent. Many practitioners use computers, videos, and audio programs for healing and attunements now. Steve Murray has all the attunement levels on dvd. I've used his Psychic attunement as a meditation and always feel a great surge in my energy field afterward. 
Thanks, Beach, for adding the principles. Words we would all do well to live by. I too am Usui but non-traditional, and while my master has studied some of the other forms, I haven't delved into much of the differences. I do know that some of the symbols are different, but most of the differences seem cosmetic, and the energy and intent are always the same, the boundless love of the Source, and our connection to it.

Well, its Friday morning and I just read the latest on the thread. Wanted to let you know I now have a warm glow that started in my chest and spread to the rest of my body. Don't know if THAT's the energy, but whatever it was, I liked it!
