Has anyone read the Conversations with God trilogy?

I read all three books a while ago and enjoyed them. Didn't exactly agree with everything but must admit that it made me think.

Just wondered if other people on MD have read them.

The books were written by Neale Donald Walsh. The inside jacket of the first book reads:

Suppose you could ask God the most puzzling questions about love and faith, life and death, good and evil.

Suppose God provided clear,understandable answers.

It happened to Neale Donals Walsh. It can happen to you.

You are about to have a conversation....
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
All three books are written as a dialog between NDW and God. The questions asked and the answers given present a new slant on why we exist and the current problems in the world.

Can't say I agree with everything contained in these books but can guarantee that the dialog will keep your attention and make you wonder. Good Read.

It does sound interesting. I'll have to holler at Barnes and Noble and see if they carry it.

May I give you a little warning though if you are considering reading them? I don't know what your religious beliefs are, and that's not an issue, but these books could be considered a little more "new age" rather than main stream Christian. That's why they appeal to ME, but there could be things in there that really rub you the wrong way. For instance, the books aren't based on any doctrines...they are a man's conversations with God and are believed to be channeled. I know a lot of mainstream Christians that would find fault with that, so just wanted you to know what to expect.

Barnes & Noble has them, and if you have a Half Price Books in your area, you can usually pick them up there....or if you have the time, I'm sure there's tons of them on Half.com.

Hope you enjoy them!

I read the quadrulogy years ago (includes "Friendship with God").

I loved the and have, recently, been thinking about reading them again... funny you should mention them here.

I read them about two years ago and recently had an urge to re-read them, basically to give myself a second opinion

I hoped for this to be a forum where people who have read the books can communicate the feelings they had while reading them.

Thanks for the responses and a special thanks to Annie for posting the warning. I was only expecting responses from people that have already read them.

If you have an open mind, the conversations will intrigue you. If you have already made up your mind on your relationship with God, the book can certainly offend you.

I remember questioning, agreeing, and actually re-reading certain concepts because I initially didn't get it.

There were some conversations where I pictured George Burns delivering some of God's responses and couldn't stop laughing!.

That's cute about George Burns!

I'm glad you started the thread...reminded me about it and want to re-read now too. OOOPs think I repeated myself...forgive the CRS.

Didn't know if you realized it, but there are even Converasations with God study groups now too.

They could be channeled, they may not be, but if they are new age, they probably are.

There is a book I am sure all of you would love, it has conversations with God, it is highly amusing, will make you laugh a lot, and has some real miracles in it. I mentioned it in another thread, it is called "Close Encounters of the God Kind"

And wow, there is one that I love by Francis Hunter about angels, and a man who gets the kind of messages you are talking about. They wake him up at night, turn on his light in his room, even leave their footprints in the snow so his wife can see that it is not his imagination. It is called, "Angels on Assignment". I have bought it more than once because when I loan it out, it never comes back. It is an amazing book. It explains things in an amazing way, it is has explanations of things that when you read them make so much sense.

Rick Joiner has some books on the same order that are also messages from God, his books are totally amazing, and again, contain explainations that are so true and make so much sense, once you read them. Now these are not channeled, but are true and more in line with the word. You will enjoy them regardless.

You know, people have always talked to God and many have received answers that they have written down. One of the ones I am reminded of is "The confessions of Saint Augustine" . That one is kind of hard to wade through and was written in much older English so it is not so much fun to read. Interesting, yes, because he was tormented by Satan.

Now, I really enjoy the ones where people have died, gone to heaven and come back. There is one man who tells an awesome story about it. He had been a Baptist minister and when he dies, the Lord asks him what he has done with his life and why he should be allowed into the kingdom. The man begins to tell the Lord of his ministry, baptizing, preaching, visiting, and so on. The Lord speaks and asks, "What makes you neolyte Christians think you can enter into my kingdom?" The man then begs to be allowed to come back and make his life right. The Lord instructs him in his mission. The man and his wife now go anywhere he is asked to speak, he can take NO money for his ministry, and he talks of his visit to heaven and what he was told. This man was dead for an hour.

Lol, now I have given you some good reading. I love to read, have soooo many books that are good, but these seem to be maybe the kind you all seem to be interested in, and will give you some new ones to explore maybe.

Thanks for the input Bev, I'll look into the one on angels. Who knows maybe we can start another thread with "Angels on Assignment" as the main topic.

The topic Conversations with God intrigued me and the only way to learn is through research...and the only way to obtain the facts on certain topics of discussion..

You know, that's a good question! I know someone who attends a real life study group...I'll find out. I would be interested in the on-line one too, so will get back to you!

Along the same lines, the Michael books are good to read, and the Seth material. Why limit our knowledge?
