This is the description of the Trinity, in my Seventh Day Adventist baptismal certificate. I thought I would share it with everyone, because I know it is difficult to put into words just what the Holy Trinity is.
Here it is, word for word:
There is one God: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, a unity of three co-eternal Persons. God is immortal, all-powerful, all-knowing, above all, and ever-present. He is infinite and beyond human comprehension, yet known through his self-revelation. He is forever worthy of worship, adoration, and service by the whole creation.
~~~~~~~~~
It is accompanied by several scriptural references. I can share them later.
Hi Classy.
Though I have learned most of my lessons regarding Christianity in a Baptist sanctuary, I find complete agreement with your words.
Thank you.
some things don't differ from one faith to the next. i see nothing wrong with eating pork but some religons do. its like i said before in a post that in the beginning there was one religion someone got mad and started another one. and he kept going on and on. i am baptist my friend is auminish (german baptist) we both have the same religion but different beliefs in some areas. so we just don't talk about those areas. we ask each other questions about what we believe we each have our own walks in life and i can't say that either is wrong. for example we was castorating bulls one day and i asked him if he keeps them to eat or disguards them. he said they can't eat them because the animal was not killed. i feel its all in the way the bible is inturpated to what a person believes in or how they believe. they don't believe in haveing their pic taken well nothing wrong with that but it is his belief so i honor his belief and he honors mine. we don't argue with what we believe or dis believe be talk about what we do believe. but somethings he is in agreement with me even if it is against his rules. there is nothing wrong with having a chain saw. but with his rules he is not suposta have a chain saw. well he bought one anyways. they wouldn't tell him to get rid of it they wanted him to tell them that he would and he wouldn't. he told me it is hard for them to argue with you when all they do is agree with you. well he finally gave his chain saw up but it was quite the story. like he said having a chain saw don't take you any further or closer to god. its mans law not gods law. i have a very close friend that is a seventh day person and we get along good we see a lot of things eye to eye and he ate pork in his younger days but not lately.
Hi doc!
I have friends from all walks of life. One of my good friends goes to see psychics, and she never knew I was a Christian. We never discussed our faiths. When she learned I was a SDA, she seemed a little surprised, because we are pretty rigid about our beliefs. In fact, we are warned to stay away from psychics, witches, (false prophets)--period. I've never been to a psychic, but if my friend wishes to go to one, it is her choice. She tells me about her readings.
Please bear with me, but I'm trying to discern some differences between the different faiths; just for curiosities sake. Tell if I'm wrong. The Baptist belief is, you go directly to Heaven or hell, upon death? You believe in the Rapture Theory?
they don't believe in haveing their pic taken
Is this because they are afraid the picture will steal their soul?
he ate pork in his younger days but not lately.
I did too, up until about eight years ago. I do eat dairy, but I don't eat meat. It has now become habit, but my original reason for becoming a vegetarian WAS faith related. SDA's believe the body is the holy temple. Therefore, it is our personal responsibility to keep it pure. That's why they also discourage smoking. It is, however, a person's choice (free will). We do not look down upon meat eaters, or smokers. There's no law in the Ten Commandments that says, "Though shall not eat meat."
I wanted to continue with the definitions I have (from my same birth certificate) of the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. I thought some of you might like to see what the church's definition for each is. I will post them tomorrow. Sorry.
they don't want their pic taken because of a passage in the bible that says no graven images. i feel it is way out of context the true meaning and what they inturpetate it to be. about what we eat mark chapter 7 tells us that what goes into the mouth goes to the belly and can not defile a man but it is the things that comes out of his mouth that defile. not word for word but close enough. the body is the temple and it should be treated as such however i feel that the meaning goes a little deeper than what your implying. i have the thought on my mind but not sure you will understand because of my lack of explaination. i don't know how to put it into words but its like jesus was saying in mark its not what goes into the mouth that defiles a man but what comes out of the mouth. and as far as so called hanging out with non believers i believe to a degree we should, and why i say that is because we will have positave input on their life. but we have to be careful not to let their way of life come into our way of life. it is so easy to get cought up in the ways of the world with out even knowing it untill its done. jesus sat with sinners also because he was strong enough to resist their ways. if we only hung out with people that was believers good church going people i don't think we would be hanging out too much. you have no idea how many people you have planted a seed in when it comes to god. people watch christians all the time and when they see something being done that the church would frown on they remember that. thats why when we go through our walk of life people see us as christians and it impresses them in one way or another. they might not talk about it or point it out to someone but the seed is planted. i have many aquantances that are not believers. nothing wrong with that at all. jesus speaks of this in matthew i believe. he said something like i have come to save the sinners of the world. now my question is this is all the sda churches abide by the same rules or do they veary from one church to the other. like the auminish people they all believe about the same but they have different rules depending on which settlement your at. the reason i ask this question is you said we don't look down on meat eaters. i don't know if all sda is like that or just your church. thanks doc
Hi doc,
No kidding about Jesus' friends. They were much like people I hang out with. HeeHee!
As for your question, the 'hardcore faithers' believe it is mandatory to abide by all aspects of the bible, and that would include healthy eating. They don't want to defile God's holy temple. However, most people believe it is a personal choice, as is with most teachings. You take what you wish, and it is up to God to decide what is right or wrong. We don't have the right to judge. From my own personal experience with the SDA faith, all of the churches abide by the same beliefs. There are no branches of the faith that include New Age beliefs or different variations in teachings.
One of my very good friends can't quit smoking. No matter how hard he tries, he just can't stay away from the ciggies. It really bothers him, because of his faith, but he still keeps trucking on. If smoking a cigarette is going to keep you from Heaven, I think God would have to be pretty darned petty. IMHO.
I'm going to include each definition I mentioned I would be posting, separately. I will start with the Father.
ok classy i was just wondering about my question because like the auminish close by me here can not have any machinery of any type all work has to be done with horses. but you can go south in missouri to this other settlement about 200 miles from here and they drive tractors like we drive cars. you have to live the way you want to and i commend you for not eating meat. if i couldn't eat meat i don't know what i would do. in my belief all you have to do to get to heaven is accept that jesus died on the cross, and ask him to come into your heart. now after you have done that i believe its your turn to clean up your life. (not meaning you but in general) i dont believe that a person can accept christ as their personal saviour and continue to drink in excess, sleeze around things like that. i believe that unless you try to live your life christ like, you can loose your salvation. now a lot of people don't believe that. if one does not change their life then i don't feel that they have accepted christ as their saviour. i believe that they just have gone through motions. we all sin it is our nature and we do it every day of our life if we know it or not. but the good news is god can and will forgive us of our shortcommings if we ask him to. i dont believe that cigs will keep you from heaven, nor do i believe that drinking will keep you from heaven to a degree. it just depends on how much you drink. i have a drink 3 maybe 4 times a year and when i do it is usually one drink mixed very weakly. i enjoy the taste and i don't see anything wrong with that at all. now i have 4 brothers. one is or was a alchoalic. one is a preacher. the three middle of us 5 don't drink at all. nothing wrong with that either. i am just glad that we can sit down talk on here like we are doing learning about each others religion and beliefs with out all the fussing that usually takes place. i have smoked for about 46 or 47 years i can't quit. i have tried. so i know what your friend is saying. i am not a preacher but i am a speaker. i play the pedal steel guitar and travel from one church to another playing and speaking from gods word about what he lays on my heart to speak about. gospel music is the only music i play on my steel and it sounds so soothing and gets you in a mood for worshiping god.
The Father
God the eternal Father is the Creator, Source, Sustainer, and Sovereign of all creation. He is just and holy, merciful and gracious, slow to anger, and abounding in steadfast love and faithfulness. The qualities and powers exhibited in the Son and the Holy Spirit are also revelations of the Father.
This is interesting. :-)
I belong to a Baptist church, and although I see absolutely nothing "wrong" with the beliefs of other Christian denominations, I believe that once a person accepts the Spirit of Christ as their Saviour, they are destined for heaven.
About one's salvation...upon accepting Jesus Christ as my Saviour, I am GUARANTEED an eternity in heaven with Jesus.
We are taught once saved always saved.
We are taught that once Christ has given His salvation, it cannot be lost.
Speaking to a crowd of people at a temple, Jesus said this...John 10:28--I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand. 29. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all, no one can snatch them out of my Father's hand. 30. I and the Father are one.
Please note something. Here I am referring only to salvation.
The person who gives their life to Christ, but then soon falls away from their faith does not lose their salvation; but the blessings that person receives in this life of flesh-and-blood will certainly NOT be as bountiful as the faithful Believer who lives an obedient life.
Have I explained understandably??
God bless you. :-)
The Amish follow a very strict Quaker religion.
Although they do not have cars, electricity and all the things that go with it, they still will use your phone, go to town in your car, buy groceries at the store too.
Most of the Amish that do drive cars, wear the lighter clothes, and have a business, ar more of the denomination of Mennonites.
The strictest ones seem to like in Pa, NY and that way.
Most of them speak Dutch.
They marry within the "family" too.
Now, I have no clue how this got way off topic ok?
I have a little book that says that what the son believes 100% will the father project so that it becomes the sons perceived reality. Science of prayer according to Hawaiian Shamanism Huna.
If you know deep down you will win the lottery then maybe universe will manifest that way.....maybe
I have several thoughts on this concept, with one thought being...........
Thought ~ Word ~ Deed = Manifestation
We are co creators with God!
My, Oh, My, the power we have been given to co create!
What great Love has been bestowed upon us?!
What great Love are we a part of?
What great Love are we!
Most of them speak Dutch.
Even more
Just one thing...while they're called Dutch, it's based on 'Deutsch" (German), which is what they were originally. Dutch was actually a pretty common nickname for German immigrants (like my Dad, but the way he drove, his friends chose the nickname "Cowboy" for him!).
Hi Patrik
So belief becomes Truth?
Angel,
We are co creators with God! I'm sorry. I'm not quite certain what you are saying. Co-creators of what? The manifestation? Or Creation?
Hi Classy Blonde
Yes something like that..
In the book and in Huna they try to reach a deep meditative state and there visualize, feel joy and see it as already happened. Sometimes they talk about creating a thought form.
The Son
God the eternal Son became incarnate in Jesus Christ. Through him all things were created, the character of God is revealed, the salvation of humanity is accomplished, and the world is judged. Forever truly God, He became also truly man, Jesus the Christ. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived and experienced temptation as a human being, but perfectly exemplified the righteousness and love of God. By His miracles He manifested God's power and was attested as God's promised Messiah. He suffered and died voluntarily on the cross for our sins and in our place, was raised from the dead, and ascended to minister in the heavenly sanctuary in our behalf. He will come again in glory for the final deliverance of His people and the restoration of all things.
On a Huna website i recently read that the creation is not complete. In physics scientists see that universe is expanding. Who knows, maybe theres a connection
I think you are saying, Creation is still in the process of completion. Does this mean it is a continual process? I have also heard the universe is constantly expanding. Additionally, I've heard the earth is drawing closer and closer to the Black Hole. Some people believe we are being drawn closer to Heaven.
As for what you read about Creation's completion. I had recently read some information saying that various books on Creation were quite conflicting, and some scholars felt the book of Creation (Genesis) was incomplete and inaccurate. As we know, Creation has been debated for hundreds of years, and probably will be for hundreds more.
Okay, I'm about to post the Holy Spirit.
