These people never give up.
Why do they want to allow our resources to be owned by other countries?

I'd rather see the ports temporarily nationalized before selling out to foreign entities/powers. What the HELL are they thinking of besides the godalmighty "bird-in-the-hand" DOLLAR?
There. I just need something stronger than a brick wall.

And has the blessing of our President. I mean... WTF? more like what do you expect???...I have a theory here.. if running the ports is done by foreign corporations.. kickbacks to our politicians will be untraceable, therefore it is about greed and the buck.. ...but if they are just running the ports.. who is making the final decisions about security issues.. Thinking customs and homeland security still have a say?

Yes it's crap but where were you people when Bill Clinton allowed the same with the Chinese deal for the port of long beach? Before feigning outrage, you folks need to look to where the precedents were set without a fight. After all, if it's wrong now, it was wrong then.
I've made my opposition to this stuff known every time regardless of who the president is or was.

The Dubai ports deal was disgusting on it's face but what made it all the more disgusting was Hillary Clinton proclaiming outrage while her husband lobbied to company to give jobs to his former administration officials.
To top it off, the same company bought several factories a few months later that are our defense contractors. When that happened there wasn't a peep out of Washington. Apparently our congressmen reorganized their stock portfolios to make that deal OK.

Even though the article has limited information, it looks like the bidding process has been fair. With the scrutiny this case has generated I couldn't see it being otherwise. The “American” based companies are the ones that seem to be self-destructing and taking themselves out of the running.
This whole mess goes to a larger question, how much do we tolerate foreign corporate dominance in our country? Remember when the Japanese were gobbling up landmarks like crazy in the 80’s, when they were the world’s economic colossus? I read at the time they were on pace to control more American property than the English and Dutch, but it took those countries hundreds of years of investment.
I don’t like any foreign ownership of companies or facilities in this country anymoe than anyone else, but economic realities shape events. The only way to insure American ownership is to nationalize everything, and I don’t think you’d like our government to be "that" involved, do you?

I like Sunbabes opinion to temporarily nationalize our ports, now is a good time to do just that. Money will be the end of our freedom.

I don't care which president or which congress does this, we need to STOP it. It is all part of globalization (The New World Order).
We are slowing but surely losing control of our country and our government is helping it to happen

the problem is we continue to have a huge trade imbalance, all of the products, and raw materials we buy from foreign countries... they have to do something with all of the dollars we give them...
heck wait until China decides to spend the huge amount of our debt.... People forget... we owe the world... we are a debtor nation.... and the vultures will return to roost....

SpongeBob opined:
Yes it's crap but where were you people when Bill Clinton allowed the same with the Chinese deal for the port of long beach? You know nothing about me. How am I supposed to respond?
Uhhh... yeah, I was outraged about that too. I just wasn't here, on MD, 8 years ago. You couldn't have seen my reaction. Besides, 9/11 changed everything. The Chinese never bombed us, and never will. Yes, it was bad. But it wasn't even in the same universe as selling our ports to Arab interests in the Middle East. But perhaps that little fact escapes you because you're safe and sound ... in Michigan.

I've made my opposition to this stuff known every time regardless of who the president is or was. I'm going to call you on this. I've seen plenty of your posts that lambast politics from 8 years ago. Can you point to anything where you talk about the current administration? I think this is an out-and-out lie. I would be overjoyed to be proven wrong. Post an URL and I'll be satisfied.
My advice to you -- live in the here and now. You'll be a better American. You really don't have play tit-for-tat. Clinton and Bush are not in competition.
SpongeBob yammered:
Before feigning outrage, you folks need to look to where the precedents were set without a fight. After all, if it's wrong now, it was wrong then. WHAT????
Feigning outrage? That is the most patronizing, angering thing anyone has ever said to me this month.
Those f***ers bombed my city, not yours. I was there. I was supposed to be in the towers having breakfast when they went down. Where were you? Oh, Michigan? Yeah, I'm sure you feel way more outrage than my feigned outrage. I'm sure you saw a lot of your friends die in the towers. I'm sure you saw lots of people throw themselves out of a window from one of the highest buildings on the planet. In fact, I'm sure you still have nightmares about watching people fling themselves to the ground from a quarter of a mile up because I'm sure the TV images you saw were way more vivid than watching it with my own two eyes.
And now those bastards want to buy ports in NYC while we're still reeling from the attacks. Everytime I hear a firetruck, my heart still pounds. Oh, wait. How could it? I'm only feigning my outrage. I keep forgetting.
I'm sure my feigned outrage is nowhere near your genuine outrage. In "nowhere" Michigan. You've got a whole lot to worry about. Big target, that Michigan. Lots of ports, too.
Yeah, I'm glad there are people out in nowheresville who worry about these things, because lord knows I'm incapable of being outraged about something that's going on in my backyard.
