As the U.S. and Britain gear up for withdrawl from Iraq, the question is what will that withdrawl look like; what configuration of forces, if any, will be left behind in Iraq--why and where; what changes in force configuration will be necessary in the Arabic speaking countries to the west; what changes will be necessary in central Asia; how will the special problem of Kurdish independence be played out, especially in relation to Turkey; will the Russians or some other third party attempt to fill the vacumn created by our departure; how will Iran respond; what effect, if any, will withdrawl have on nationalist islamic movements throughout the Middle East and other parts of the Muslim world...etc, etc, etc. And, what are the timelines involved.

Well, we're not ready to withdraw from Iraw yet after all, so let's talk about Iraq.

Nah...I think the liberals should gather here and discuss IRAW...works for me! It will make about as much sense as every other thread you participate in. Go ahead and start discussing how we shouldn't have gone into IRAW and how we were decieved...it will leave the other threads open for some intelligent discussion.
What did YOU have to drink last night Martin?

The withdrawal will begin when Americans demand it to.
It could come sooner than we think, if this is to be believed!

the withdrawl from Iraw There is alot of truth in that typo actually.......if you "withdraw" too quickly, it will make you "raw"

I know the feeling because I made a typo in the subject of another political thread before I caught it. I made a couple of other errors in different forums too.
Check out this request.

I have a question, and I think this is the appropriate thread....
Recently I caught a little blurb of a report on Al-Mu--zaza--what's his name in Iraq meeting with (I think) a Taliban warlord, whatever. Anyway, the report ended by saying that the White House was concerned that he had met with this person. Ok, sorry for the vagueness, but missed most of it....But my question is this....what does happen when Iraq's Elected Government Officials act in a way that the White House does not approve of??

Door, good question. In my opinion, it shouldn't matter what our goverment thinks of the way they run theirs.
I imagine there will be some kind of civil war when all the troops leave. It will be up to Iraq to take care of their problems then.

Right....see, with Elected Officials, what right do we have to say how they should or should not run their country? At the same time, we are over there rebuilding and protecting their efforts to create a democratic country....another sticky little mess that has had me thinking for a couple of days.

If there was one clear mistake I see made with Iraq, or is it Iraw? Im just playin Martin.
Back to my point. Troop numbers. From the very minute Saddam was removed, an overwhelming number of troops should have been there to crush any insurgency that began to pop up. Little by little this has grown like a leaky faucet that fills up a sink. The leak, and its nature, were underestimated.
Either Bush, or the Generals on the ground, made that mistake. That much I can concede.

From all current reports, Bushy-Poo doesn't listen to the Generals, but relies on his vast knowledge of war tactics.

Just out of curiosity, what reports are those? Bush repeatedly says how his decisions are based almost solely on the advice of those on the ground. Not to mention, those individuals agree with that statement.
