He spoke stupidly but truthfully.

Iraq, like 'Nam, is a rich man's war but a poor man's fight.

Be it, today you still have to have a diploma or GED to be IED fodder for the Army.

He should have apologized right away. See a good speaker would have known how to redo his "bad joke".

Of course, let's not forget Dan Quayle and Howard Dean either.

Everyone makes mistakes, they just need to rectify it right away.

He didn't say anything I haven't said a million times to my own children. If you don't focus on your education, you severely limit what career opportunities are open to you.

It is a sad fact of life that in some communities, the military is the only or the best option available. And once your name is on the dotted line, you're at the mercy of politicians who fund wars that are fought by someone else's son or daughter. How many people in office have children or grandchildren who are active duty military? Why not? Because their children had different, more or better options for making a living.

Argue all you want, but the better educated you are, the more opportunities you have.

Iraq, like 'Nam, is a rich man's war but a poor man's fight.

I've been hearing that lie for years but not one person has proven it yet. The same goes for the John Kerry's education lie.

How can any so called intelligent US Senator not know what is coming out of his mouth? He knew what he was saying and an apology just won't work.

A joke or simply shooting off his mouth we will never really know. No matter what Kerry said it doesn't over ride the simple fact at hand. That fact being that the GOP still is in power. Hurry Tuesday, we The People desperately need and hopefully desire a logical change........Time will tell.

ps. Kerry lost my vote.... which is not a big deal as I expect he would not attempt the run for President again.

From what I've read, he was not referring to the troops, but to Bush who, lacking pertinent information concerning the history of the region, got us stuck in a war in Iraq. When you listen to the whole speech, it is clear that his target is GWB.

Well that does appear to be the spin but the "man" has spent the last 30 years attacking the troops.

There is no spin to it. The speech was read on TV this morning (on the View). It was a botched up joke about Bush. The media took one small part of it, showed a clip of just that part and it sounded as though it was the troops he was talking about, instead of Bush. If they wanted to crucify him, because of what he said about Bush, go for it, but at least they should be honest.

Kerry has not spent the last 30 years attacking the troops. That is another gross exageration. He only attacked a few of the troops originally, that were committing war crimes.

I am not a Kerry fan, but l believe in trying to keep things honest.

Yes, I voted for him, but only because my other choice was Bush...... I think he has always been too rich to know how most of us live.

Oh Geez, I'm watching the BBC World Tonight on PBS and they just showed his remarks. What a gift he gave the Republicans. They even showed a Rush Limbaugh radio blurb referring to it.

Sheesh, why do Democrats always shoot themselves in the foot?

Yeah he is a silver tounged devil isn't he.

Here is what I can't get. People are making a big deal out of the portion of his statement that mentioned getting an education and if you don't you would go off to a war instead. That is merely his opinion and he is entitled to be as nutty as he wants to be. But what confounds me is that he, and others, believe what he said about trying to be smart. That is really out there. Either you are smart or you are not. You can't make yourself smart no matter how hard you try and if you get an education then you are educated and that does not insure that you are smart at that point. There is no logic to his conclusion. I wonder how "smart" he really is if he really believes that baloney.
