Just as the spoof of Sheryl Crow's actual remarks about global warming were spoofed and then the spoof reported as news, Fox has done it again. A spoof has been reported as actual, true news...Here's the link.

How Stupid Are These People? They "Report" You Decide...To Change the Channel.

Fox has done it again.

Fox has done it again? Howzabout Washington Post has done it again?

Gotta love misleading liberals...

I know you want to make your OP sound good, but please do a little research before posting... In the interest of accuracy. Isn't that what we're talking about here? Accuracy in reporting?

That was a hoax? Still funnier than the screen doors on the Virginia Class submarines.

Hey, how did that whole Dan Rather thing go?

How about Jayson Blair?

How about Al-Rueters photoshopping pictures?

No, Sheryl Crow did say it...

Eastham just doesn't like the fact that she said it so she is... well, spoofing us. Hey, anything to discredit Fox. For that you don't have to actually tell the truth...

Maybe eastham likes BBC news more?

What can you expect from a woman caught plagiarizing things. Couldn't possibly be taken seriously...

That's okay ...when I was at Neport News Shipbuilding, they weren't installing screen doors on the Virginia Class submarines either except over the sea chest to keep the critters out of the reactors.

It was a hoax? I heard that Sheryl Crow even had the ONE sheet per visit on her website and I thought the BBC reported the story first

Wasn't a hoax. She really said it.

Then later she tried to make it sound like it was a joke. Well, duh, after a couple million people had a good laugh at her expense, she figured that she may have sounded a tad stoopid.

I especially like her account of meeting Al Gore... It's in the WashPost article I linked up by the top of this page. He... inspired her or something.

Oh well, if she were a rocket scientist, then she'd be a... well... rocket scientist.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/eat-the-press/2007/04/25/behold-the-power-of-ham-s_e_46824.html

A.J. Daulerio | Posted Wednesday April 25, 2007 at 01:58 PM

Associated Content, "The People's Media Company" , is now possibly mired in a legal kerfluffle thanks to one of its many "content" producers attempting to parody an AP story about a Lewiston, Maine middle school's actual "hate crime" incident where a student left a ham steak at a table full of Somali students.

In a lazy attempt at parody, the writer, Nicholas Plagman, switched "ham steak" to "ham sandwich", which caused a ruckus because many MSM broadcasts (including Fox News) picked up the story and the school became barraged with emails from angry people all over the world that accused the school of making "ham sandwiches weapons." The school, obviously, is pissed because now they've got a fake incident nationally making things uncomfortable for them -- on top of an actual incident that's causing a stir within their local community.

According to this Sun Journal story, the Associated Press is looking into legal action against the AC for citing the AP's actual sources and the superintendent has a bunch of distraught students and an overly busy secretary fielding all the hate mail.

Good news is that Associated Content is a site that pays its writers a small fee for their crappy stories and then offers performance bonuses based on traffic numbers, etc. So, the question is, how big of a bonus will Plagman get since this story is becoming more and more popular each day? And will all of this exposure result in the Onion job he sorely covets? And will people actually start using ham sandwiches as weapons? Developing...

thinking that Fox should have checked the source before jumping on the ham wagon.... whereas Sheryl's humor fell flat...It seems that common sense is lacking in the republican camp, as even liberals need more than one square of tp to wipe their asses..

I was just referring to the fact that eastham presented this whole thing as Fox being the only news to "spoof" us about Sheryl Crow. And that is... incorrect.

Spoof

For the second time in a week, the mainstream media ran as either a spoof or in the case with the Fox piece listed in the original post, a parody, as real news. On April 1, the computer-based trade journals and blogs fell for an April Fool's Joke about Sweden eliminating the 3 additional vowels at the end of their alphabet and replacing them with vowels pairs. It goes to show that these reporters neither have the 3 sources they're supposed to have for their stories or their editors have a blessed idea their job is not to tell their reporters what the news is, but to cajole them to make sure the reporters have their facts straight.
