I'd forgotten about that. I did hear that JFK wanted to get rid of the federal reserve and thats one of the reasons why he was killed. Don't know if there is any truth to that, but I hope Ron Paul does not end up getting assassinated too.

this is the first I have heard about ron paul, but from what I had just googled on him, he sounds like a fine candidate for president which means neither side will want him

I have no idea who Ron Paul is, but I do know Aaron Russo, and I wouldn't believe him if he told me water was wet.

For me at least, Dr. Paul wasn't very impressive in the debates. One thing he said was that he was used to making crucial, snap decisions, such as those that would be necessary as President, because he had treated medical patients. Try as I may, I couldn't quite relate that to the level of something like Iraq, 9/11 or Katrina. Plus he didn't come across as Presidential to me, which I do place some degree of importance in.
I'll keep an eye on him as time goes by, maybe something will change. But I doubt I could ever vote for him.
Now, I am personally fairly impressed with Duncan Hunter on the Repub side. Particularly his stand on border control and Illegal Immigration. For one thing he believes an open border and heavy illegal alien influx is a signficant national security threat, and I would certainly agree that the borders and our ports are areas we've neglected for far too long. .
Sorry for going slightly From a blog article:
Born and raised very close to the border, Hunter has made border control his main legislative priority. He's been pushing for a "fortified border" for his entire career. In fact, there is an entire website dedicated to his efforts to secure the border. Besides advocating for increased military spending, border enforcement issues are the only other issue under which he has made a name for himself.
Since his immigration platform is almost entirely based on increasing enforcement measures, his support last spring for House bill 4437 should come as no surprise. He even worked to add an amendment to the already enforcement-focused legislation for more border fencing. In Duncan Hunter's ideal world, we would build a fence along the entire border.

He is one of the primary people to focus on making a connection between immigration and terrorism. He talks about the border as a national security issue quite often.
Lots More FYI Here
