Uh... excuse me.. I don't really want to get into this debate, but I just wanted to point out that it is usually a mathematician awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics. Mathematicians have also won based on formulaic constructs in Economics. So, while there is not a Nobel Prize for Mathematics, they are well represented in the sciences.

And according to the Norwegian Committee of the Nobel, water resources have been and continue to be a leading source of war. The effect of global warming on fresh water, fishing and other food resources can be a reason for war.

The Nobel Peace prize became a joke a long time ago so it no surprise that a assclown like Gore won it

I'd just like to point out that Yasser Arafat once won the Nobel Peace Prize.
That was duly noted. And exactly what did he do to promote peace? Oh right he harbored and trained terrorists. Yeah that helped a lot didn't it?

Funny you should mention that. It just so happens that my mom spent her entire career on that particular virus. So, no... she says I don't have rabies. ;)

I think it's pretty cool he won the Nobel Peace Prize for his efforts.
I do think he's passionate about his beliefs, and I think there's some merit in the global threat. A lot is changing about our environment to be sure. Weather patterns alone strongly indicate that. Would all that have happened anyway? We can only speculate. But it IS happening, and there seem to be ways to fix it, at least do some degree.
Human beings are pretty much our own worst enemies after all, when it comes to giving back to the planet what we take from it. Natural resources can only go so far, and then they run out. And what we do to where we live, can also take it's toll.
I just don't necessarily want to see him run for President.. The two things have very little common connection. He's good at this.. I'm not so sure he'd be good as president. Better yes. Of course anybody would be an improvement!

Alfred Nobel was a lonely man and was often in poor health. He was very modest, often appearing shy to other people. Above all, he was engrossed in scientific ideas and in the practical management of his many European enterprises, and devoted himself night and day to his studies and work. His dream was to be of service to mankind.
In January 1897 it was learned that he had left the bulk of his considerable estate to a fund, the interest on which was to be awarded annually to the persons whose work had been of the greatest benefit to mankind. The statutes of the foundation which administered the fund - the Nobel Foundation - were adopted on 29 June 1900.
