I have submitted to Congressman Emmanual Cleaver (Dem. 5th Dist. MO) and also the office of Congressman Ike Skelton (Dem. 4th Dist. MO) and also the office of our state's Senior U.S. Senator. Christopher "Kit" Bond (Rep. MO) the text of the National Public Safety Act of 2008 which has as its principal goal the establishment of 100,000 new federal firefighters, constables, and emergency management administrators within the Department of Homeland Security, to be appointed by federal district public safety authority boards of trustees to be organized in each of the 93 federal judicial districts of the United States, and described within the proposed Bill as consisting exclusively of experienced command firefighters, law enforcement personnel, Ambulance and Emergency Medical professionals, Emergency Management commanders, and etc. as the 5 members of these federal boards of trustees.

My proposals would provide for new public safety emergency responders to be mobilized for deployment to any federal disaster area. If this proposal was the law of the land today, Federal District Fire Rangers as an elite public safety team of airborne "smoke jumper" and "firefighter frogmen" modeled after the US Navy Seals, and also a substantial number of federal civil defense reserve personnel would be instantly mustered at "Public Safety Citadels" (combination fire, police, and civil defense HQ's) in each federal district to be airlifted under mutual aid contracts, with state and local emergency management officials, to help combat forest fires, or respond to hurricanes, tsunamis, tornadoes, or any other major emergency, catastrophe, or disaster, and to also respond with a fleet of fire boats to maritime disasters occurring in the coastal waters of the United States or within any federal waterway.

During any time when the US Congress declares war, when the US Coast Guard is assimilated by law into the US Navy to perform naval combat duties, my proposal would authorize the National Public Safety Service to perform peacetime Coast Guard duties such as maritime lifesaving missions.

Fire Rescue "Storm Wardens" would focus upon reducing the suffering of the civilian population during natural weather disasters such as floods, blizzard, ice storm, tornado, hurricane, earthquake, volcano eruption, heatwave, tsunami, or catastrophic meteor strike occurring anywhere within the United States, its commonwealths, territories, and possessions.

US Constables would provide ancillary police patrols for the benefit of any federal building, national forest, national park, national cemetery, and while traveling upon any Federal Highway or Interstate Highway, to interdict the traffic of interstate stolen motor vehicles and be on the alert for fugitives at large and crossing state lines with their federal kidnapping victims, make arrests for fugitives in possession of firearms, provide dignitary protection for foreign consular diplomats outside of the District of Columbia (The uniformed division of the US Secret Service only protects foreign diplomats in Washington D.C. and even though the USA is obligated by the terms of the "Vienna Convention on Consular Relations" to provide protection for foreign consuls, these diplomats are "on their own" when based in any of the 50 American states) and to provide federal dignitary protection for the benefit of candidates for the U. S. House of Representatives or U.S. Senate.

As a former Police Colonel, Ambulance Emergency Medical Technician, and incumbent member of a Board of Commissioners for a Missouri Volunteer Fire Department, I use personal experiences to perceive the "cracks in the system" including thousands of railroad policemen and subscription firefighters that are not on any state or local disaster management response team table of organization because these responders are affiliated with private agencies. When enacted into law, these subscription firefighters with their fire department ambulances, and also the railroad police officers, reformatory corrections officers, and arbitral bailiffs providing hearing room security functions for the benefit of arbitrators performing duties under the Federal Arbitration Act, or any similar state or commonwealth arbitration acts, become integrated auxiliaries to be activated for federal disaster purposes when lives or property are in jeopardy and the prompt summoning of aid is essential, in addition to the "regular" paid command personnel of the Federal District Public Safety Service and the "reserve" volunteers, all of whom would perform joint civil defense drills together in each calendar quarter. New Federal grants are described within the proposed National Public Safety Act of 2008 for federal fire, police, and civil defense purposes.

People who agree with me that we learned after Katrina FEMA was broken and that a new approach to a federal disaster emergency response is very much needed, are urged to contact Missouri Congressman Cleaver, Congressman Skelton, and Senator Kit Bond (the US Capital Switchboard telephone number is 202 224 3121 and urge each of them to sponsor the proposed National Public Safety Act of 2008 the text of which is in their legislative offices at this very moment, to urge these federal legislators from Missouri to utilize their legislative expertise to get this wholesome measure enacted into public law, in order to preserve lives & property.

Yup! It's raining ashes where I am. Many of my co-workers have been evacuated from their surrounding areas now. All I see is a very large charcoal cloud hoovering above me. Arnold has now prison inmates out fighting the fires with supervision.

Anyone wanna toast marshmellows?

Yes, the medical facility I work for is getting swamped with respiratory issues. I even had to get an asthma inhaler yesterday.

Is the sun suppose to shine today? Lol

Or maybe we will get black rain

Actually the black rains are a good thing they clear the air...When FL/GA had those fires this past spring it was terrible even down here in swfl, the winds carry it for miles...It was so bad you couldn't see the gardrails or interstate signs... The satellite picked it up and showed how it blanketed the state...Best one can do is stay inside and wear a mask when ya gotta go out...I hope people remember to bring their pets in...We lost many wild birds, they littered the ground everywhere...

I think God is angry at the extreme right and the extreme left wings! The ones who do only what they're told, and can't think for themselves.

And of course He's doubtless outraged at this wayward White House most of all! I suspect He has been taking notes.

Only not everybody affected by this raging inferno, fits into those categories. Collateral Damage I guess. Unfortunately it seems there's always some of that.

But this is a sign folks! No More Dirty Politics!! No more benefiting from blatant destruction of the country in the name of greed! No more advocating Illegal Alien Immigration for instance!! As some of our illustrious leaders are still doing this very day! I suspect He also wants out of the Iraq debacle!! And no more endless spewing of smoke and toxic waste into the atmosphere!!

God's pretty tough after all, more than we often consider. And I suspect his patience at all this self-induced chaos, is running pretty thin...

Angel, I am glad to hear you are ok. Now, what about Pete?

We have family down there and I heard from my Mother in Law last night and she said she is ok. She lives in Pasadena. Now, I am not sure about the other family members.

Smoke has gotten worse today! Have to wear masks. Santa Clarita Fire house office burned down.

I am about 2 miles from the foot of the mountains where Running Springs is. We trying to work, but smoke gets in anyways from the front door as patients enter. Can you believe it? They had to choose which area was to get the water planes. San Diego has them, but we have no water planes right now.

Can anyone post a list of MD people who are in the wildfire area.
My California geography isn't that good

I know that the San Diego area covers 19,00 acres with fires starting in 3 separate places
I know that there are fires north of L.A.

What's the best link to keep updated on the fires???

last I heard there have been only five deaths attributed to the fires..San Diego County was IMHO the hardest hit..

http://www.sdcountyemergency.com/

the scariest was Lake Arrowhead/ Slide fire in SanBernardino County

tHANX for the links.....I'm getting overwhelmed and a little depressed....especially with the talk of Arson!!

I'd like to hear some HERO stories ....i READ SOMETHING ABOUT SOME SENIOR CITIZENS(volunteers) DRIVING INTO THE FIRE WHEN OTHERS ARE EVACUATING
now that's the kind of stuff I want to hear about.
This story was posted by their grandson who said there is a whole network of senior citizen volunteers...I think he said they were involved with the red cross.
