Yeah, I guess a lot of people forget Bush's first foreign policy fiasco.

Who can keep up with all his "fiascos"? There are so many of them (and many not told by the media), no one can keep up!

Eastham's funny bone may be on vacation right now.. HeeeHee!

Speaking about Obama though.. What do you think of Oprah's Winfrey's widely media-touted endorsement of his campaign? Will that make a huge difference?

And if so with whom primarily?

Would her endorsement influence your vote?

I thing that O may end up hurting Obama. Being talk show host queen is a lot different than politics and gettin involed with electing our next president. Esspecially now in such a volitile political climate. People might turn on her, scrutize her more intensely, and start looking in her closet more.

O, I'm a white male, which means I may be talking through my hat, here. But the few people I've heard talking about their personal opinions about this (mostly white women), seems to say that Oprah will help Obama in that demographic. A lot of them respect Oprah's views and common sense, and think that when she talks her words deserve at least serious consideration. She may not be a politician, but they see her as a lot more than a "talk show queen." They do see her as a political activist in certain areas and as a very smart woman. I suspect if Oprah actually ran for almost any office, she would win in a landslide.

There is that segment who will not even listen to her, dismissively saying, "Oh, well, she's just supporting him 'cause she's black and he's black." They are the kind who won't listen to Obama seriously either. Those who say "Well, I'll vote for him 'cause he's black" won't care what Oprah has to say either, seeing her support as something a black woman of her influence should be doing for a black candidate.

But, I think overall, her open support of Obama is good for his campaign.

Perhaps you are right night....Nobody seems to know for sure as she has never endorsed a political candidate before. My sense is that voters are more sophitisticated than to allow her to influence their vote. All these sold-out events via the "O" factor may very well give Obama the edge he needs to ease past Senator Clinton, or it may not. Time wil tell. But my sense is that some people are almost going to resent her presuming her fame, and fortune can elect a President.

Bill O'Reilly says that Oprah will not invite conservatives to be on her TV Program and her agenda is to provide a platform for the "SP's" or Social Progressives (Leftists) so I would say that Oprah has zero influence with me.

But I would support an articulate and knowledgable black conservative for any political office, up to and including the Presidency, However, I am not into "Afro-Centric" black personalities because to get my support a black candidate must first and foremost be an American and an International Ambassador of the American Culture, so the native African garb is a hindrance to that ideal.

For instance, Sydney Portier or Bill Cosby can move next door to me anytime and is most welcome.

I would introduce my houseguests to Bill Cosby with pride and invite him to participate in any backyard BBQ I might plan.

Snoop Doggy Dog would not be as welcome at all, because his counter-culture clashes with mainstream Americana. If he moved in next door with his lifestyle associates I would hire private security patrols, install alarms, and have my attorney strictly enforce any homes association rules that Snoop may violate, and would also organize a neighborhood crime watch to concentrate on Snoop's place, not because I am in any way prejudiced against Blacks, but because he brought his culture war and drug use to my neighborhood.

I backed Clarence Thomas to the US Supreme Court, supported both General Powell and Condoleeza Rice for Secretary of State and consider black skin no impairment to friendship or political loyalties.

Maybe you should stop listening to O'Reilly, since Bush was on her show, among others.

"When Hillary is the nominee she will make her own choice for VP! It will not be Obama! It will be a white male! And possibly from Ohio or Florida!"

I agree. About a year from now will be the start of 4 years of vagina monologues coming out of the white house.

When the victorious Republican President and Vice President are sworn in on inauguration day in 2009, overheard will be an whispered aside, "Does this mean that we won't be getting those Hillary "vagina monologues" from the White House?"

When Hillary self-destructs in the 2008 Presidential race, her US Senate seat becomes up for grabs also in subsequent elections as losers are deemed to be vulnerable and loser-incumbents are not beloved plus she is a Carpetbagger to New York anyway.

There are a lot of New Yorkers far more worthy than Hillary to be a US Senator, plus there is the prospect of importing conservative TV carpetbagger faces such as Sean Hannity to contest that NY Senate Seat

Rush Limbaugh should also run for the US Senate and take another vulnerable Democrat seat away.

Why not, we got a drunk that committed vehicular homicide sitting his fat haunches on the seat for the Senior Senator from Massachusetts, his first elected post in his life, and a man who never had a real job but instead simply had accomplished brothers.

Oh now common on, he didn't win by all that much. It did what was pretty much predicted in the polls. But he did win, and he did make history. Great victory speech too in Iowa. It reminded me of his key note speech during the Democratic National Convention....On to New Hampshire now.....

I congradulate Presidential candidate Barrack Obama for his historic first place win in America's first presidential caucus in an election year.

He has unhorsed the "number one seed presumptive front runner candidate" in their first "for keeps" electoral encounter and in so doing, never, ever, again will American electoral politics include any sort of presumption that when it comes to a black presidential candidate that "he doesn't have a Chinaman;s chance.

So history was made tonight.

I congratulate Senator Barrack Obama for his huge upset win in Iowa.
