The polls are all over the place!
Over the Holidays, some of them had Edwards in the lead in Iowa, and Obama in 2nd place, Clinton 3rd. But this morning it's back to the way it was before.
1) Clinton 2) Obama 3) Edwards
Biden is pretty much out of the picture it seems, as is Richardson, and Biden might have been a good shot for Prez. So that's a shame.. Maybe VP?
I'm beginning to wonder if the polls really mean anything. You would expect them to though because that is the voters too, but what's all this juggling?
As for the Repubs, McCain is somehow close to the top now, (that's a real shocker! - Why?? He's a Bush carbon copy! Would someone actually want another Bush?), along with Romney and Huckabee. (That's in New Hampshire). But those like Paul, Hunter and others are not even mentioned. So it's very hard to predict what will come of the next few days.. Things are very close. But it's sure to be interesting!
What does your gut tell you?

I'm beginning to wonder if the polls really mean anything. Not to me they don't. After the last election for President, I vowed to turn off the tv....

Going into the caucuses, as of yesterday, Obama had a 7 percent lead over Clinton, with Edwards just barely behind. The phone rings nonstop, and there are people at my door EVERY day-even New Year's Day It is so tight they are all scrambling for caucus-goers. They are even offering to shovel people out, provide rides, etc.
I'll be glad when the caucuses are over!

Um...we still have about ten months of this to go. And polls won't change my vote anyway, whatever it will be will be based on what the candidates say they're gonna do...in other words, the usual wishful thinking.

Huckleberry and Obama are the ones I see winning, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Edwards pick up the victory, either. Romney and Clinton have been too negative for the Iowans, as I've heard from my Secret Lover, Chris Matthews.

As for the Repubs, McCain is somehow close to the top now, (that's a real shocker! - Why?? The assassination of Bhutto in Pakastan has caused many voters to consider that Pakastan is a powerderkeg of intrigue and factions. The sixty nuclear warheads are more important than either which President murders his way into power or murders to keep power. Bhutto was, and Muscharif is a CIA client.
The clear and present danger that an Al Qaeda sympathetic coup would transfer nukes to terrorist hands bodes badly for antiwar Copperheads or "peacenik" candidates who are not viewed as being a military commander of substance.
That is why McCain is surging from the rear. He is the miltary guy that is tough on terror, who supported the war in Iraq, is not seen as a wimp without a backbone as are the capitulators, and is viewed by independent voters as being the bulwark against Al Qaied/Taliban/Tribal Wiziristani intrigue seizing Pakastan's nuclear weaponry.
Americans are not afraid to fight; they love a good fight. What they hate is a loser. (General George S, Patton, US Army) So as the world appears to be in greater danger of menace from abroad, candidates with a backbone who are viewed as warriors able to protect us surge from behind, leaving the Pollyanna platituding captitualtors in their dust, because no one goes to a streetfight lead by a coward.

I'd love to see the candidates talk about any real issue, rather than simply bash each other and spew the same tired rhetoric. But as I've stated before, I do agree with the Republican mantra that you shouldn't trust any of the other Republican candidates.

If we go from past performance in Iowa, they switched to the status quo by the time they voted. If they do it again, it will be Hillary.
I am guessing:
1. Hillary 2. Obama 3. Edwards
I am also guessing if Hillary wins the nomination, her running mate will be Dodd.

I didn't like him when he ran with Kerry. The debate between him and Vice President Cheney was so funny!

Third would be a huge accomplishment for some. A third place finish might even be enough to make someone listen to Crudy again.

I can't imagine anyone voting for Edwards My dad's voting for Edwards. My dad doesn't make a lot of money; he makes less than my mom, in fact, and really has to work two jobs on the side (he is a music columnist and plays in several rock bands). My family can't heat our house and my mother is at risk for losing her job (she works in the town hall as a public health nurse...for long hours) due to the newly elected Republican government wanting to reduce bureaucracy and move the health department to the county.
Edwards' anti-poverty stance really strikes a chord with my dad...

I might be wrong about him, but it's hard for me to believe a man like him really understands what poverty is.
But at least he isn't blaming the poor for being poor, while claiming to be the only one who cares about the poor.

You are wrong. He came from extreme poverty. I did a powerpoint presentation on all the candidates and I forget his exact background, but he grew up extremely poor. He was the first member of his family to even attend college.

IMO, he's a more likely candidate for VP than Hillary. I just don't see her submitting to being Obama's VP. The two seem like they're on different pages of different books.
But then again, I would have said the same thing about Georgie Sr. and Ronnie the first time around.

I dunno. You are definitely right about Hillary. She could barely settle for being First Lady.
But Edwards has stated...and I think this was on Hardball...that he really hated the idea of being someone's VP (secretly, I think he just hated the idea of being the VP to a saltine like Kerry)...though I can see him in that role.
