As will The Goreacle! Let the games begin!

MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. -- Barack Obama has won the presidential endorsement of Sen. John Kerry, the Democrats' 2004 nominee who lost to George W. Bush.

Kerry plans to announce his support Thursday at a rally at the College of Charleston, a Democrat familiar with Kerry's decision told the Associated Press.

Odd he's not endorsing Edwards, his former running mate..
Must be some bad blood there somehow..

Not as though that endorsement carries a lot of clout. Or anywhere near what Oprah does..

The fact that like McCain, Kerry was "dirty-tricked" out of business by the Bush/Rove slander machine, and a few soul-selling, former naval, media whores, is a real shame, and a disgrace to politics, as well as the US Navy.

But he wasn't the best choice for Prez anyway, and he doesn't enjoy a lot of influence with many voters.

I guess you guys forgot that it was Kerry who picked Obama out to give the keynote at the 2004 election. As per Edwards, he's distant is a distant 3rd and despite the fact they were on the same ticket, I don't think Kerry and Edwards were ever close personal friends.

I don't think anybody considers Edwards to be a "distant" third. He beat Clinton in Iowa. That's not too distant, and that's one of two so far. Just about everybody acknowledges that there is a pretty tight 3-way race in the Democratic party.

As for the 2004 speech, I don't really see the relevance in that. Lots of people gave lots of speeches, but not very many were picked as running mates.

Are you just having a bad day Eastham?

Hell, I signed up to join the Edwards campaign online, and I consider him to be a distant third. He is polling nationally and in most states in the high teens at best against low to mid 30s numbers for Obama and Clinton. Although I am coming to like him more and more as a candidate, I don't think he honestly has a chance to win this nomination. My intent in supporting him, despite my relative certainty he will not win, is because I want to contribute to the message he is expressing in his own unique way that I think needs to be heard. If he does generate enough support, perhaps the other two candidates will realize the support his ideas have and consider incorporating some of them into their policy decisions when they have been elected.

I like John Edwards, but coming in 2nd in Iowa does not bode well. Ask Bill Bradley, Paul Tsongas, Paul Simon, Gary Hart and Ted Kennedy.

As to lots of people giving lots of speeches, the speeches at the convention are not all the same. The keynote speech is a cut above the others. Obama's speech in 2004 was entitled "The Audacity of Hope."

Okay, I stand corrected NightOwl..

You AND Eastham consider Edwards a "distant third" yet here are the results of the Iowa Caucuses and it's a little difficult to draw that conclusion from there. The line is clearly separated where you see it. There's quite a difference between Hillary's score of 29 % and that of Richardson at 2%.. Above the line are obviously 3 candidates at the first tier and below the line is the second tier. I think the top 3 are an awful lot closer than are the bottom group to them. There is no telling how future results will come out as clearly demonstrated by the NH primaries. But not very many future states are even being currently officially polled. Super Tuesday will naturally be the big conclusion.

However, as discussed before, I still fail to see the point. What does this have to do with anything related to this topic?

Barack Obama 940 - 38 percent (precincts won)
John Edwards 744 - 30 percent
Hillary Clinton 737 - 29 percent

----------------------------------------------------
Bill Richardson 53 - 2 percent
Joe Biden 23 - 1 percent
Uncommitted 3 - 0 percent
Chris Dodd 1 - 0 percent
Mike Gravel 0 - 0 percent
Dennis Kucinich 0 - 0 percent
Other 0 - 0 percent

I am looking past Iowa. As I mentioned in my previous post, coming in second in Iowa has not led to the nomination since the second place finish of Jimmy Carter in 1976. Edwards, unfortunately, finished 3rd in New Hampshire with 17%. While Edwards vowed to fight on after NH and despite my reticence to get out too far ahead of the voters of SC after what the polls said in NH, Edwards is still polling in the teens in his home state. Not a good sign. Obama will probably win SC, as Hillary doesn't seem to have gotten a bump in the polls following NH.
