I hope that they vote to arrest the President and Vice President under color of local or state law.
Conspiracy to deprive an American citizen of his civil rights (see Section 1980 of the Civil Rights laws) which specifically provides for federal relief when state and local public officials act under color of law to perform civil rights abuses.
Sweet.

Look, we know Democrats/Leftists would LOVE to get revenge for the justifiable impeachment of the Great Stain Maker. But it ain't going to happen because there are no impeachable offenses.
All you do by following this useless line of reason is demonstrate how you are willing to smear the President and don't care about the consequences for the country. .

I think it would be a hoot for George W. Bush to surrender to Brattleboro cops and insist on not making bail bond, plead nolo contendre which admits nothing but agrees to be punished, demand the maximum sentence of 180 days, and then take up residence in the Brattleboro Jail, which naturally would instantly bring in the White House staff, situation room people, and hundreds of White House courriers to conduct their usual and customary business attending upon the President of the United States from the Brattleboro Jail.
I am sure some Federal Judge would grant a Motion that the President and Vice President be afforded the same rights as other offenders, to participate in a work release program, in order to keep their jobs, allowing them to come and go at will.
The US Secret Service would then vet the local cops for security purposes, and when they failed to obtain a Penumbra security clearance (which is way past top secret) the local constabulary would then be ousted from their own jail for national security reasons.
Then the Bushites would simply occupy the Brattleboro Jail, have it wired for phones, faxes, and also bring in an army of office trailers to fill up the jail lawn and adjacent areas, including parking them in the street itself, closing down the public street with White House Police Officers manning the barricades. Military attack helicopters armed with chain guns would hover over the jail, protecting the President, as the Air Force flew a combat air patrol over Brattlboro, bringing constant sonic booms at all hours, to the delight of residents trying to sleep.
Having a US President in a local jail would simply be hilarious, as the local officials would instantly lose control of thier own offices and would have to stand by and watch George Bush turn his cell into an office, keep the cell door unlocked for the Presidential Aides to come in and out, and naturally the White House Chef would take over the jail kitchen duties.
After serving his full sentence, George W. Bush AND Dick Cheney would claim that they could not ever be re-arrested for any of the same charges due to being immunized, compliments of Brattleboro, with regard to his "double jeopardy" rights.

Oh no! Not at all.. Brattleboro uses Chain Gangs.. So the Shrub would be outdoors in ankle-bracelettes, decked out in his token orange coveralls, ambling down the road, swinging a manual weed-whacker and a hoe, getting tons of blisters, chiggers and stickers, and getting rained on. .
And the food? Ewww! Not like White House food at all..
Then of course at night time, there'd be Big Ole Bubba, the cell-mate, who would very likely take a shine to Junior! ..and want to get really friendly, real fast..

And his many trips to Crawford are okay?
Nothing says the Secret Service can't be standing beside him with the communications suite, just like they do on all the vacations Bush takes. The many, many, MANY vacations Bush takes...

Oh no! Not at all.. Presidents are required by the US Constitution to devote full time to their duties, making chain gang service UNCONSTITUTIONAL. Oh no! Not at all, as it applies in this case. I think you might need to update your interpretation of how it really works. While chain-ganging in his bright little orange outfit and rubber boots, his duties in office would be suspended and passed along to appropriate substitutes within the federal structure. I believe Ms Nancy Pelosi would take on most of his responsibilies until his sentence is served out, or in this case until his term in office has expired, which will come well prior to his release from Brattleboro custody.
Now you may not like Ms Pelosi, but we must admit, considering who she will have replaced, it can only have a positive impact. Add to that, I have seen little in the Constitution which seems to directly address presidential chain-ganging. More often than not, commanders-in-chief are not incarcerated at the State level, so I suspect they never provided for that in the Constitution. But back then, the Founding Fathers never planned on having a president like Mr Bush to deal with.

But back then, the Founding Fathers never planned on having a president like Mr Bush to deal with. Actually, they did. They had just broken away from an autocracy where the leader can be consumed by greed, bereft of intelligence, or hungry for power. So we ended up with the checks and balances in our system.
What they hadn't considered was someone like Bush AND the complicity of the legislators and judiciary in his abuses of the presidency.

The Kooks are out in force here:
By Susan Smallheer Herald Staff BRATTLEBORO — Brattleboro residents will vote at town meeting on whether President George Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney should be indicted and arrested for war crimes, perjury or obstruction of justice if they ever step foot in Vermont.
The Brattleboro Select Board voted 3-2 Friday to put the controversial item on the Town Meeting Day warning.
According to Town Clerk Annette Cappy, organizers of the Bush-Cheney issue gathered enough signatures, and it was up to the Select Board whether Brattleboro voters would consider the issue in March.
Cappy said residents will get to vote on the matter by paper balloting March 4.
Kurt Daims, 54, of Brattleboro, the organizer of the petition drive, said Friday the debate to get the issue on the ballot was a good one. Opposition to the vote focused on whether the town had any power to endorse the matter.
"It is an advisory thing," said Daims, a retired prototype machinist and stay-at-home dad of three daughters.
So far, Vermont is the only state Bush hasn't visited since he became president in 2001.
Daims said the most grievous crime committed by Bush and Cheney was perjury — lying to Congress and U.S. citizens about the basis of a war in Iraq.
He said the latest count showed a total of 600,000 people have died in the war.
Daims also said he believed Bush and Cheney were also guilty of espionage for spying on American people and obstruction of justice, for the politically generated firings of U.S. attorneys.
Voting to put the matter on the town ballot were Chairwoman Audrey Garfield and board members Richard Garrant and Dora Boubalis.
Voting against the idea were board members Richard DeGray and Stephen Steidle.
Daims said the names submitted to the town clerk's office were the second wave of signatures the petition drive had to collect, because he had to rewrite the wording of the petition.
He said he gathered nearly 500 signatures in about three weeks, and he said most people he encountered were eager to sign it. He started the petition drive about three months ago.
"Everybody I talked to wanted Bush to go," he said, noting that even members of the local police department supported the drive.
"This is exactly what the charter envisioned as a citizen initiative," Daims said. "People want to express themselves and they want to say how they feel."
He said the idea is spreading: Activists in Louisville, Ky., are spearheading a similar drive, and he said activists were also working in Montague, Mass., a Berkshires town.
The article asked the town attorney to "draft indictments against President Bush and Vice President Cheney for crimes against our Constitution and publish said indictments for consideration by other authorities."
The article goes on to say the indictments would be the "law of the town of Brattleboro that the Brattleboro police ... arrest and detain George Bush and Richard Cheney in Brattleboro, if they are not duly impeached ..."
Daims said people in Brattleboro were willing to "think outside the box" and consider the issue.
Daims had no compunction in comparing Bush and Cheney with one of the most notorious people in history.
"If Hitler were still alive and walked through Brattleboro, I think the local police would arrest him for war crimes," Daims said. I hope that they all get IRS audits and EPA citations.

Perhaps the Fed will better recognize it's true responsibilities, that is, the welfare and protection of the American people, by beginning to take it's ques from small American communities such as BrattleBoro, VT and Hazelton, PA, who have had enough, and who aren't too intimidated to say so.
