This is just an example of citizen activism showing displeasure with the Bush administration, nothing more. I'm sure there have been town hall-like meetings voicing disapproval during George Washington's presidency, as I'm sure there'll be during the next administration, whomever's elected.

To get all bent out of shape over his, either pro or con, is just a waste of energy.

That is Mo, unless they actually arrest Bush and Cheney for war crimes.

Not likely of course, but who can be sure? I can easily picture them both in Vermont, in your traditional bright orange outfits, with the facility stamped on the back.. Can't you?

We must keep in mind too, we all knew a little about George Washington,
and George Bush is NO George Washington..

As if muncipal governments have purvue under state law to make anything but a misdemeanor or infraction ordinance. This whole notion is mental masterbation on the part of the political left.

I hope the IRS and EPA and every other alphabet soup-lettered federal agency exerts their jurisdiction and makes a career out of strict enforcement with maximum penalties for the loonies in Brattleboro.

Perhaps the city fathers of Brattleboro can find an outstanding DWI bench warrant for old George.

Or better yet, should they lay hands on the President, would be arrested by the Secret Service for assaulting a president and attempted kidnapping under color of a phoney warrant.

I will say something here you may want to listen to....Murderer Bush has not been into that state at all! And yes they can hold him on a warrant! Once it is served he must obey the law!

But what about the legal opinion from the Clinton White House that the separation of powers doctrine prevented a sitting president from being indicted or arrested because the executive could not be constitutionally subjected to the judicial branch in a less than equal position?

The Republicans were told that they had to wait till Bill Clinton left the White House before any attempt was made to indict or arrest him.

What a wonderful article Bj864, although I believe that some of the other Fascists Neo-conazis should be arrested and put on trial as well, like: Paul Wolfowitz, Jeb Bush, Donald Rumsfeld, Karl Rove, Condolizza Rice, Lewis Libby, John Ashcroft, Larry Silverstein, Richard Perle and any other Traitor to the United States........ oh go ahead and throw Rupert Murdoch and Rush Linbaugh in with the traitors too as their propaganda ministers.

para...That is where the "writ of Habeus Corpus" comes in! But, Bush has removed that hasn't he? That means he would have to stay in jail! The President is bound by the same laws as we are regardless of what Bush thinks!

I would think serving the warrant would be the major problem. You have to be able to present the warrant as in "I have a warrant for your arrest"!

Now, am I right, wrong or just close, para?

Another little tidbit some of you might find interesting;

if you type in the question "how many cities have voted to impeach Bush or Cheney (in Yahoo search engine), you will get 1,180,000 links to info about this. Lots of cities have already voted on it and lots more are in process.

This just in -

bBRATTLEBORO, Vt. -- Town officials in Brattleboro are being inundated with complaints from across the country about a decision to let voters decide whether arrest warrants should be issued for President George W. Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney.

Town Clerk Annette Cappy said the "nastiness" of the calls prompted the town office to stop answering its phones Monday.

One message from a Minnesota man said he'd like to see terrorists cut off the heads of some Brattleboro officials.

Brattleboro police said they will prosecute anyone whose messages cross the line and harass town officials.

Town officials say the petition that led to ballot measure complied with the law. Petition organizers say the measure was symbolic.

Quite the contrary. It's a matter of LOYAL Citizens taking LOYAL action in response to unprecented levels of wrong-doing by elected officials involved in the ABUSE of POWER!! It is not only a citizens' option to do just that when improprieties in office occur, it is their duty.

You see, NO ONE is ABOVE the law.. No.. Not even the Shrub! (Much to his dismay)

Well, MM, to be absolutely correct in the use of the term, these people are disloyal to Bush. Of course, he hasn't done anything to deserve their loyalty, like be Correct and Moral, no matter how Right he is. Sounds to me like they're loyal to the ideals of the Constitution, however.

Brattleboro is a great little New England town. Did you know that it is not at all illegal to be naked in public there? They passed a law against it a while back, but let it expire. So you see they won't arrest just anyone for any little thing. It's basically live and let live. Unless you are a REAL baddie. Watch out Dick and Georgie!

Yes, but I don't consider patriotic loyalty to be to Georgie Bush though Nightowl. Or any individual temporarily in office for that matter, especialy if they are less than loyal-worthy. They are merely ships passing in the night. In my view, they are part of the big picture. The big picture isn't part of them. As far as I'm concerned Bush doesn't represent the USA, and he doesn't represent me. Give me a choice between Bush and the USA, and it's No Contest..

I consider loyalty to be commited to, and for, one's homeland, one's roots, one's scruples, one's family, and one's fellow man. Hence how my comment was worded.
