This should be another vote provoking excuse to cry! After all - one would not make a very good living pimping out CHELSEA!

SEATTLE (AP) - A distasteful comment about Chelsea Clinton by an MSNBC anchor Thursday could imperil Hillary Rodham Clinton's participation in future presidential debates on the network, a Clinton spokesman said.

In a conference call with reporters, Clinton communications director Howard Wolfson Friday excoriated MSNBC's David Shuster for suggesting the Clinton campaign had "pimped out" 27-year old Chelsea by having her place phone calls to Democratic Party superdelegates on her mother's behalf. Wolfson called the comment "beneath contempt" and disgusting.

"I, at this point, can't envision a scenario where we would continue to engage in debates on that network," he added.

Clinton and Barack Obama are scheduled to participate in an MSNBC debate Feb. 26 from Ohio, which holds its primary March 4. The Clinton campaign has pushed hard for as many debates as possible with Obama, but Wolfson said the Feb. 26 debate could be jeopardized.

Wolfson pointed to what he called a pattern of tasteless comments by MSNBC anchors about the Clinton campaign. Weeks ago, "Hardball" host Chris Matthews apologized to the former first lady after suggesting her political career had been made possible her husband's philandering.

MSNBC has apologized on-air for Shuster's remark, but Wolfson said neither Chelsea nor Sen. Clinton had received a phone call offering a personal apology.

An MSNBC spokeswoman did not immediately return a phone call requesting comment.

Well, that entire concept is just stupid anyway! What a totally assinine thing to say! Especially if MSNBC management is in any way defending it.

The Clintons have every right to be pissed!

MSNBC has been getting rather marginal for a while now, trying desperately to compete with CNN. I don't think it's working.. They even appointed Dan Abrams as General Manager over it all for a while, but not for a very long period of time.

MSNBC has been going downhill for years. Very few people watch it. They jumped on the Obama bandwagon as he is more like their political position -

VERY LEFT.

I think it is funny that the same people - the Clintons - that take money from the rap punks - are upset by a term that the rap world has made into an everyday verb.

I think she is being quite disingenuous and is just trying to get back at MSNBC -

You know how the Clintonistas get even!

THIS JUST IN -
Schuster suspended -

I wonder if the Clintonistas kissed him on the cheek!

If they find him dead we will know!

I guess Al Shakedown Sharpton will be on the scene soon!

NBC NEWS STATEMENT REGARDING CHELSEA CLINTON COMMENT:

On Thursday's "Tucker" on MSNBC, David Shuster, who was serving as guest-host of the program, made a comment about Chelsea Clinton and the Clinton campaign that was irresponsible and inappropriate. Shuster, who apologized this morning on MSNBC and will again this evening, has been suspended from appearing on all NBC News broadcasts, other than to make his apology. He has also extended an apology to the Clinton family. NBC News takes these matters seriously, and offers our sincere regrets to the Clintons for the remarks.

Both the Clinton and Obama campaigns accepted invitations from us on Thursday evening to participate in a February 26th debate. Our conversations with the Clinton campaign about their participation continue today, and we are hopeful that the event will take place as planned.

Typical Clintonista tactic - they love to strongarm the press -

If I were MSNBC I would flip her the bird!

She needs the debates now - she is LOSING!

Billary asked Obama for a WEEKLY debate now that her ship is sinking!

I will be glad when the Clintons are out of politics!

I think it's a shame too... He was pretty good, just too outspoken on some things. And as such he tended to make a lot of faux pas'. This isn't the first time he's been in trouble. No doubt he was trying to make his nitch in Cable News as a bad boy.. But he should have toned it down a little, after the first time or two.

His apology probably would have worked, had he not been nailed in the past..

But you can't just say anything on world-wide TV, and that was in very poor taste.. Still though, censorship is usually not a good thing except in extreme cases. I suspect they'll sort this out and hopefully not cost him his job forever.

Since she's well ahead at this point, by about 100 delegates, I don't think the Clintons will be getting out of poltics anytime soon.

McCain might though.. He's running into a LOT of problems with his own party. And as volatile and short-fused as he is, you KNOW he's got to be absolutely raging!! I only hope his BP is under control. He's no spring chicken!

But that about "Clinton losing" was a pretty funny thing to say alright.. Kind of like slapstick? Or the 3 stooges? Good one!

from politico - Seems Schuster was not so sorry - until the Clintonistas got the goon squad!

Before MSNBC's David Shuster was suspended by the network Friday for on-air comments he made about Chelsea Clinton, the television reporter engaged in a heated correspondence with a spokesman for Hillary Clinton in which he defended his appearance and refused demands to apologize.

A copy of the e-mail exchange between Shuster and Philippe Reines, a longtime Clinton aide, was obtained by Politico and is reprinted here.

On Thursday, Shuster guest-hosted Tucker Carlson's MSNBC show, "Tucker," and in referring to Chelsea Clinton's role in calling superdelegates on behalf of the Clinton presidential campaign, he asked if she was "sort of being pimped out in some weird sort of way?"

Later that night, he heard from an outraged Reines, who called the remarks "absurdly offensive."

Shuster was unrepentant. He told Reines his commentary was justified because of the contrast between Chelsea Clinton's overt political role and the aggressive way campaign aides "jump down the throat" of reporters who seek to question her about it.

He was more contrite the next morning, apologizing on Joe Scarborough's MSNBC show, "Morning Joe."
But that didn't satisfy the Clinton campaign. Communications director Howard Wolfson told reporters in a conference call that Shuster's comment was "beneath contempt."

Wolfson also raised the possibility that Clinton would no longer participate in an MSNBC debate, scheduled for February 26.

In a statement before Shuster's second apology, on Friday evening's "Tucker," the network said that Shuster had "extended an apology to the Clinton family."

"NBC News takes these matters seriously, and offers our sincere regrets to the Clintons for the remarks," continued the statement.

Behind the scenes, Phil Griffin, senior vice president at MSNBC, took the criticism over Shuster's remarks from the Clinton camp especially seriously, and Tim Russert helped mediate the situation, according to sources.

But one high-level NBC source told Politico that apologizing was an act of cowardice on behalf of the network.

"This is at least the second time they've caved to the Hillary Clinton campaign," a source told Politico, referring to Chris Matthews' recent apology over remarks he recently made about Clinton that were widely denounced as sexist. "What does this do to journalism?"

Reines, reached by Politico, declined to comment. Shuster did not respond Friday night to an e-mail interview request.

...Hillary will "pimp" as many miles out of this as is humanly possible; "my baby being picked on," the "Momma bear," the ??

...In a not so "weird way," Hillary is pimping Chelsea. When have the Clinton's ever missed an opportunity for free media, or later reduced advertising rates, or any preferential treatment derived from a trespass?

...Shuster should be expecting a check in the mail.

Let's not turn this into something it's not. The comment was made in very poor taste.

Schuster is merely a junior reporter trying to make a name for himself. This is merely part of a string of similar antics on his part. Saying a bunch of outrageous, offensive, things about people right out of the box, to draw attention to oneself, isn't the best way for a wannabe to promote a quick-rise career in journalism.

He simply handled it very poorly, said some stupid things, and he blew it! He was slapped pretty soundly in the face by the network this time, and rightfully so. Even Keith Olberman apologized profoundly for such an MSNBC faux pas, on his own show. I'm sure Tucker did as well.

There isn't a thing wrong with Chelsea being involved in her mother's campaign. It would be a lot more odd, if she were not.. Hell, Obama's wife certainly is involved in his.

I suppose anything is possible.. But that wouldn't be my first guess.

It was pretty nasty and uncalled for, not to mention irrelevant. It IS their daughter, they seem to understandably be a bit sensitive about her, as most parents would. I have a feeling they'd just like messy things like that to fade away. But I guess only time will tell.

I don't like Hillary that much either, and she was quite far from my first choice for the job. But at the same time, I don't really see her as a monster without a soul either.. I think we could do a lot worse. McCain for one example. Or to continue on with the status quo.

On a side note: Bush was in Nashville and other parts of Tennessee today, viewing the tornado damage. Made up to be a very elaborate political affair in every way, I suspect with all the to-do, all the dedicated aircraft, all sorts of federal vehicles everywhere, all the dignitaries, the huge crews, State Government officials, the reserved runways, extensive security and the whole thing, we taxpayers probably took a hit for that visit to the tune of about $10,000,000 dollars, at the very least. That photo-op alone would have rebuilt an awful lot of houses from the foundation up..

The waste associated with that man is just unbelievable. And just a few blocks away lay quite a number of Vets wrapped in blankets, with no way to be able to even afford a place indoors to sleep, due to his raising their VA fees, making it harder to get their benefits, and cutting so far back on their services.

Just makes you want to chew nails..
