blondino - I am a Republican

I am ecstatic that Billary will lose!

Obama can't win the general election. In 4 years he could - should he decide to do anything in the Senate!

CPU wrote: Why is Iraq part of Britain's concern? Because British Military Intelligence provided the CIA with their initial falsified intelligence about WMDs.

...Through Pearl and Wolfowitz? ... There was truth to the intelligence, but in my opinion, not severe enough to warrant an invasion. It is one thing to kick Saddam's butt, another to occupy a country with limited resources and leave the country armed with open borders.

...To the contrary, I am not calling you "a bullshit far-left liberal if you insist," but rather the liberal perception of our nationality under our Constitution and how it is to be related to the world. What has the UN ever done, but be a day late on everything, what good has come out of NAFTA, etc.? Trade imbalances have existed for a long time with Europe, Japan, etc. and look at the import tariffs on various US products.

...Oh, I know what Bush and the Republican party does, while the same extremes are happening by the Democrats as well to arrive at some agreement in the middle. So, why not cut through all the crap and stand in the middle, where it typically ends at anyway?

...Ironically, we had a Revolution to break ties with British taxation, only to follow suit by leaps and bounds; still not as bad as Europe, but getting there by the liberal mindset that anyone that works, needs to pay for everyone else.

...Add continuous open borders, as Obama endorses, but absent of a common national language, or Federal support and although we will catch you in taxes, they will be on a local level and hardly equal as a nation. Add more liberal mindset and we will have cameras recording the last time we used the restroom, as Britain does. Endorse the liberal mindset of taking away the individual right to bear arms, that our government will provide and protect us and we will have a potential for another Hitler.

...Any idealism that attempts to erode our government as being unique, is endorsed by the world to be as they are. Read our Constitution and the originator's did not wish to follow Europe's, or any other government, but here we are attempting to do so by constant attempts to dismiss the rights of the people for the people as was endorsed.

...For the past many years, the Executive branch has decided which laws it will carry out and Congress has been sitting on it's ass, not forcing each President to do their job, so as to falsely have a scapegoat when they decide to run for the Presidency; Obama included.

Now THERE'S an pretty cool solution if you ask me!!! heh heh Katts, have you ever run for public office?

Sigh, no people wouldn't like me I bet! Things would end up being to simple for most politicians to understand if I ran for office..

CPU wrote: Hmmm turned tail and ran from Iraq... the Southern part of Iraq was stable and could be handed over. No Hadithas there...

...Oops, I missed one CPU. I suppose it depends on what determines as being stable in a what most would call an uncivilized area. Al Basrah north to Baghdad is not a trip you want to take as a family outing. Unguarded convoys and supplies would never make it through. As Salman NW to Ar Rutbah is the wild, wild west.

...No, Britain left a vacuum, that Iran Shiites immediately filled, where the rest mentioned is totally open for the Saudi Sunnis to traffic money and weapons at will. Further north is about the same with Syria. North is with the Kurds and Turkey BS.

...The only remotely stable area is part of Baghdad and Balad airbase itself. Americans filled the void that Britain left by increasing troop strength by about the same, or 30,000. In addition, another 150,000 mercs and civil logistics have been hired from day one and looking for more.

...And Obama wants to pull out and leave the place in total chaos, with Iran further filling the void, which will bring Israel in full force. Maybe that is a good thing, but is the world ready for this? There should be no doubt, that Israel will nuke Iran when push comes to shove by Iran's threat to wipe them off the face of the earth on more than one occasion.

Yes, the British aristocracy / monarchy tried to exact taxes from the American colonies to pay for the cost of maintaining an army and navy over there. The irony hasn't escaped me that the US now provides the security of most of the Western World and acts as a guarantor of other national frontiers in the UN. Apart from providing a great part of Third World aid.

From the 1950s the US allowed the nascent European Community to raise tariffs against it as an assistance to European integration, to help get it started. Now that the EU is as established as it will ever be, the EU (- France especially -) has absolutely no inclination to remove those tariffs, open up trade to the US and introduce genuine Atlantic free trade. It has taken 50 years for the EU to remove its shallow and narrow-minded attempts to protect its collective agriculture.

If I were American, I would be pretty pissed off with Europe's self-interested and self-serving machinations too. And I would do nothing to assist them either.

Katts you are definitely a candidate for either the French or German presidency. You could do a lot better than either of those two have done before. There might be some improvement with Merkel and Sarkozy, they both show Atlantic and globalist tendencies. They might even start to make major international contributions to global security and defence.

katts would make a better president than the one currently residing in the White House. As would Marcus Ayala, Lara Wheeler, George Sturgill, and anyone else I work with, live near, or associate with.

Except for the guy who lives in the little cabin a mile down the road. He's not a former coke-head like our president, he's a current one. But I'm sure after some detox and a few meetings, he'd make a better president than Junior as well.

Given that thought, Obama vs. McCain is win win, because either is an upgrade. Obama is just the more appealing candidate to some because he is less like Junior.

Yep, Blondino…..this is what I meant in an earlier thread about the global "symbolism" of an Obama win. One big reason Bush is such a lightning rod of hate and ridicule throughout the world is his apparent representation of old-school, entrenched, status quo American politics. Obama represents, with his youth and diverse ethnic background, an extremely attractive alternative and fresh face.

I know that's just political window dressing and not substance, and if Obama wins who knows what kind of president he'll be, but from a purely public relations viewpoint of mending a very fractured American image, you can't have a better candidate. His global appeal is just what we'd need to regain lost prestige.

I just hope some frickin' idiot with a twisted agenda doesn't assassinate him first.

Unfortunately, that's the world we live in, wills. I sincerely hope Obama has a chance to fulfill his destiny, whatever it may be. But I also know there are a lot of stupid, racist, intolerant idiots out there that would love to be spoiler and fantasize about having their name burned in posterity.

Mo, I'm kinda thinking to myself, isn't this the 21st century? As sad as it is, it's the world we live in, as you rightly put it
