Some people here don't get it.
Taxes are NEVER HIGH ENOUGH for Democrats.
Tax revenues in this country are at historical all time highs, but it STILL isn't enough for the Democrats. They want MORE MORE MORE!
Enough already!
Tax rates aren't 15%, or 25% or 28% or even 30% or 35% ... for many people they are over 50% or 60% or even more.
If you live in a place like New York City you pay the Federal Income Tax, NY State Income Tax, NY City Income Tax, real estate property taxes, school taxes, sales taxes, excise taxes, gas taxes, utility taxes, ETC. ETC. ETC. by the time you are done, the government has consumed most of your income and most of the fruits of your hard work.
It's an OUTRAGE!
The way the government fleeces you makes organized crime look like The Girl Scouts. The proof is right here. You don't even see how much they are gouging you!
They hide the taxes in EVERYTHING and make it so damn complicated and confusing that 99% of people don't even have a clue how much they are confiscating from you.
It's the ULTIMATE con game.
Take gasoline for example.
The Democrats in Congress like to be seen on TV having hearings where they bring in oil company executives and grill them on the hot seat. Like lemming idiots, liberals chant "yeah, stick it to the man."
In fact the TAXES on a gallon of gas are so high that they far exceed the amount of profit that the oil company makes on that gallon. You could barely change the price even if you cut the oil company profit to ZERO, but you could cut it a lot if you CUT OUT THE TAXES.
But do those same Democrat politicians EVER propose maybe cutting the TAXES that are included in gas prices to reduce the price. NO NEVER!
They would NEVER cut the taxes because it's a huge source of the slush money that they use to fund the power they hold over you and use to fund their corrupt programs. You think they're gonna give up their vigorish?! They'll kill ya first!
Tony Soprano could learn something from the Democrats. They are robbing you blind and STILL have you begging them to take EVEN MORE!!!!

Actually, it's one of the first things Democrat governor Ted Strickland did when he took office. I remember the pumps used to show how much you were paying per gallon in taxes for gas. They don't do that anymore around here. Ted killed their excuses.

That statement is just plain false.
Not all democrats want to raise taxes. I just voted for a DECREASE of real estate taxes myself and the people voted with me. It passed in Florida.
I am also sick of taxes everywhere. We have hidden taxes all over the place.
However, I do have enough sense to realize that we must pay taxes. How else are we going to fund the various things we want funded by our federal, state, county and city governments?
I think the biggest disagreement comes in how to distribute the taxes we do collect. Republicans want to spend it on assisting the rich and fighting wars, while the democrats want to distribute them more to the working class and the
poor.
I think almost everyone (democrats and republicans) would like to see taxes go down.

Gasoline cost breakdown
About 23% for taxes - I looked up the numbers, in AZ it's 36.4 cpg, NY is 50.3 cpg, a pretty wide variance. I think a much better example is the 'sin tax', like cigarettes - in Jersey it's $2.57 per pack...we have you there, AZ it's 2 bucks, NY is only 1.50. Of course we can always take a ride over to the rez and get them tax free - that would work, since our gas taxes are pretty low...
And nope, they're not giving them up.

Oh, and there was something running on Yahoo - the 'misery cities'. Detroit was number one for most misery, but NYC and Providence were up there...NYC is second only to Providence for most-taxed.

maybe when cigs are $20 a pac, medical costs will level off, just a thought...

The one thing we are overlooking in this discussion is that the rebates are being given to stimulate an economy that is fast becoming a disaster. I think it is too little too late and that we are heading for some worse times. However, this will help a little.
i understand BJ, but per economic rules/standards we've not even reached a recession yet
DR.... i think more understand than it appears......it's just dang gov is so determined to fight over being a dem or publican that they forget about the real world we all live in and they really don't care about anything but their own agendas of the moment….
Dang does that sound like these forums…nayyyyyyyyy…..
