Here's something else we can dapple with...
Senate votes to ban waterboarding
WASHINGTON - Congress on Wednesday moved to prohibit the CIA from using waterboarding and other harsh interrogation methods on terror suspects, despite President Bush's threat to veto any measure that limits the agency's interrogation techniques.
The prohibition was contained in a bill authorizing intelligence activities for the current year, which the Senate approved on a 51-45 vote. It would restrict the CIA to the 19 interrogation techniques outlined in the Army field manual. That manual prohibits waterboarding, a method that makes an interrogation subject feel he is drowning.
The House had approved the measure in December. Wednesday's Senate vote set up a confrontation with the White House, where Bush has promised to veto any bill that restricts CIA questioning.

Experts were not sure if the men would have given the same information to prosecutors if they had not been interrogated by the CIA first. ..."Experts" and they are not sure?
...Talk to the experts and that is the CIA and other groups that get the real deal and then let the FBI baby them to reinforce what they already know to be fact and thus, admissible in court.
...Except for the ones that slip through the cracks, released and we fight again another day; or did we trade them for other prisoners? And did we implant a tracking device in their testicles before release and can find them at will, along with their future cohorts? Works on all types of wildlife...
Works for me.

sg - me too! Please stop the brutal "Starbucking" torture technique. Makes us as bad as the Muslims!
I was thinking.
Maybe that is how Danny Pearls head rolled off of his shoulders. Too many Frappaccinos!

Everyone has their view of how things are in the Bush...CIA torture chamber in GITMO! Of course there are many others scattered about the world Egypt, Poland and one of the Baltic Republics...just to name a few! We do not know what goes on or has gone on in those torture mills! If it ends up like the emails from the Black House from 2002-2005 we will never know! People always talk! I guarantee there will be some that are involved that will write books and have the evidence to prove what Bush/Cheney and Rumsfeld did!
I, for one, do not believe a word that comes from this Black House nor from any of its stoolies up to and including the boot-licker military men he has appointed over more competent military personnell!
I am sure once this War Criminal leaves office the truth will start trickling out and it will shock the nation! Hopefully, charges will then be brought.
edited to add this....."I am"....what is so funny about Danny Pearl's head being cut off? Is it because he was Jewish or what?

No - nothing to do with being Jewish -
It is because several idiots on here draw some sort of whacked out imaginary equivalence from how we treat prisoners to how terrorists treat prisoners.
Since we a torturing these terrorists with Starbucks Frappaccino I thought that we learned this torture technique from the Muslim terrorists and that was what caused Pearls head to detach!

I used to read Danial's stuff he wrote. He was a terriffic writer. And he actually thought and wanted to make a difference by befriending the Muslims. He just wanted to be a great reporter. And he was excellent.
I would love to kill those bastards that did that to him. There was more than one invloved...had to be at least three or four.
Those people that killed him were terrorists and need to be wiped out! Their thinking needs to be eliminated!
Now, you know why I got ticked off....I had read so many of his articles I felt I knew him.

I am not convinced that waterboarding is a form of torture, per se. As long as there is no intent to drown the interviewee, any form of distress that does not leave a permanent scar, draw blood, or involve excruciating pain, does not appear to be torture to me.
Anyone who gets dunked in a swimming pool is subjected to more or less the same discomfort as a person who is waterboarded.
I have lived through that and never complained about my rights under the Geneva Convention.

Me too luckie. Here is a piece for wiki on Daniel.
Pearl was kidnapped by a militant group calling itself The National Movement for the Restoration of Pakistani Sovereignty. This group claimed Pearl was a CIA agent and — using the e-mail address sent the United States a range of demands, including the freeing of all Pakistani terror detainees, and the release of a halted U.S. shipment of F-16 fighter jets to the Pakistani government.
The message read:
“ We give you one more day if America will not meet our demands we will kill Daniel. Then this cycle will continue and no American journalist could enter Pakistan.

L _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ _ Y - then you should be glad that these bastids are going on trial - One of them bragged about being the one that chopped his head off!
That is what is so hard to take about you fellers position here. They have tapes of Khalid Sheik Muhammed bragging about decapitating Pearl and you all feel sorry for him! He was on the video.
GO figure!

After being waterboarded for one minute, Khalid Sheik Muhammed could not be shut up, as he poured out facts and names and plans and everything he knew.
Sounds effective to me.

lucki wrote: I would love to kill those bastards that did that to him. There was more than one invloved...had to be at least three or four. ...Well, you are about to get your chance, albeit you have continuously whined on various threads of how we should be treating him/them better at Guantanamo.
Maybe opt for a DSL or Cable connection, as lack of information seems to be causing constant confusion...
lucki wroteI, for one, do not believe a word that comes from this Black House... ...You know, if your liberal Obama should ever make it to the oval office, you may not be politically correct in calling it the Black House.
