It looks like republicans crossing over might be the reason for the huge democrat turnout.

I'd cross-over too!!

Look at what they've come up with as their own candidate..

I'm wondering if it is for real or if they are doing it to keep Hillary from getting in.

I think it is merely payback for the early primaries where the true conservatives got knocked out of the running right away. Sometimes, paybacks can be hell

The Brits dont seem to understand our system here.
In Maryland there is no reason to register Republican as there are few that run in the primaries.

I voted for Barack yesterday - it gives me great pleasure to vote against Billary.

Of course I will vote for McCain and work for his campaign in the general election.

...But, it was innovative voter strategy that does not play by the indorsed party rules. I found it to be rather interesting, where the people could actually manipulate the system.

...Of course, BJ's article had "1" and maybe "1" more that may cross over; if he is not asked to run as vice president.

definitely the latter one; it's a primary, after all-they do what they can to keep the candidate that they most fear -Clinton- from being their opponent in the general election.

I am beginning to believe it is to keep Hillary out myself, rather than wanting him in.

Republicans seem to believe they can beat Obama.

If the American people are ignorant enough to put another republican in, I give up.

Actually, most republicans would much rather have McCain face Hillary than Obama in November. Her negatives are much higher and she will be easier to defeat than Obama.

Just look at the polls. McCain is even to slightly ahead in most of the national polls, when matched up against Hillary, but he trails Obama in almost all of them. Obama will run well in several southern states, with large minority populations and he could well win them, something Hillary can't do.

Say yes, What you say is true, except you leave out the most important part. The republicans (and the media) have given Obama a free ride so far. However if he is the nominee the free ride will be over and the republican attack maching will kick in with a bang! They will use fear tactics to make people believe that he is a danger because of his name and race. Just watch it play out, if he gets in there.

Thats why they think they can beat him and I wouldn't be surprised if it doesn't happen. A lot of people are pretty ignorant and their minds can be easily led (example of how they supported the war).
