When "the media" reports George W. Bush's dwindling approval rating is hovering around 25%, I must admit my reaction is not one of curiosity about who that base could be. I shrug my shoulders and say to myself, "even a mentally challenged monkey, not blinded by some misconception of patrotism, wouldn't think this man is doing a good job?" Yes, I've taken the easy route and not given them the benifit of the doubt but now I want to know exactly who and why anyone could still support the Bush Administration considering the calamity in which the country finds itself.

Was the connection more economic or ideological with both being a strong possibility? I first listed what institutions and citizens were likely supporters and assumed to believe Duh'bya is doing a good job must require the same delusional thinking and leap of faith required for organized religion.

Evangelicals (Faith Based Initiative)
Military Industrial Complex
Corporations
Country Club Republicans
NRA: gun freedom advocates

The task of finding why and who still support Bush wasn't as easy as I thought it was going to be. The internet is jammed with negative Bush information and disillusioned former Bush supporters like gun advocates. Of the conservative sites I visited there was plenty of "librul" Democrat bashing but with no answers, of course. Lot's of hypocrisy about a new love affair with John McCain, who is about as conservative as Ted Kennedy.

It quickly became evident finding out-spoken Bush supporters was going to be harder that I originally thought so I took it upon myself to list a few reasons that the supporters might believe but mignt not want to talk about.

1. A president lying about a blow-job is an impeachable offense. A president lying to garner support for an illegal war is solid policy

2. Government should limit itself to the powers named in the Constitution AND..to banning gay marriage, spying on it's citizens and censoring the internet.

3. The public had a right to know about Hillary's cattle futures but George Bush's drunk driving and questionable military records was none of our business.

4. What Bill Clinton did in the 60's, what John Kerry do in the 70's is of vital public interest but what Bush did in the 80's is irrelevant.

5.Global warming and tobacco's link to cancer is "junk science" but creationism should be taught as fact in public schools.

6. Providing health care to all Iraqis is sound policy while providing health care to American citizens is socialism

7. Group sex and drug use are degenerative sins unless you someday run for governor of California as a repuglican.

8. If condoms are kept out of schools teenagers won't have sex.

9. Being a drug addict is immoral and a crime, unless you're a conservative talk-show host. Then it's a illness and you deserve our prayers.

10. A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own body but multi-national corporations can make decisions affecting all mankind without governmental regulation.

11. Jesus loves you and shares your hatred of homosexuals, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama.

12. Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a bad guy when Bush One made war on him. A good guy when Cheney did business with him and a bad guy when The Shrub couldn't find Bin Laden.

I'm sure I overlooked some. so please feel free to add to the list

Wow you sure can pick and choose the crap you decide to spew.

A bunch of half truths and very selective at that.

Lets see where to start...... Perhaps I support the Bush administration because he is the elected President of the United States. He is our president, and for only 11 more months, no amount of hatred on your part can/will change that. It is what it is, so be happy you are a citizen of this wonderful country and have legal right to post your hatred in a public forum.

1. I have heard the speeches of both the Clinton's ( shortly after 9-11 ) to announce their support on going after Bin Laden and Saddam. and what dangerous men they are... Most of the info Bush got was the same info they had, but were too afraid to prevent a 9-11 from happening. When raising your children, doe what they lie about matter? Or is it the fact you expect more of them, and any person of authority should held to a higher standard. And not break the law to attempt to save his own ass.....

It does surprise me how many of you wish simply put aside the fact the President of the United States stood before you and flat out lied to our face, in hopes there was no proof to prove him a liar.... Lying in court is even worse.... A lie is a lie is a lie. Should I bring up the " vast right wing conspiracy"

2.Protecting the current laws from being re written for the sake of a minority is part of governments responsibility. What citizens were actually spied upon? Do you know of any..... Monitoring international calls by computer is hardly an invasion of an individuals privacy..... If they wanted to hear about grandmas knee surgery, I guess they can listen.... If they can intercept terrorist information, using a key words, by the use of computer, I say shut the f*** up and let them do their job.

3. A one time deal taking $10,000 and turning it into $100,000, how lucky is that? Why not do it again? Because it is called laundering money !!!! His drunk driving record was public information. And the fact CBS forged documents to manufacture a false war record goes a long way to show you are so full of shit, you fail to recognize right from wrong no matter what party is doing it. I firmly believe it is wrong, just plain wrong to lie about ones past...... Not it is ok if it helps our party.

4. It is important to review everyones past, because judging someones character, is one of the ways we use to help us make a decision during the election process.

5. Global warming is based on a consensus , not science. it should be taught that way... The dangers of smoking are well known,...If they are really that bad, make them illegal, and lose the tax money.... Why must we ban Creationism? Why not explain both theories and allow kids to make their own decision.

6. In Iraq we are not asking to turn over a huge percentage of the private sector to government control..... How much do you enjoy doing taxes? Do you think heath care will be any easier when they start to write the code for coverage? PLEASE name one thing government does without tons of waste and abuse? And then put you and your families life on the line to prove me wrong.

7. What exactly does sin have to do with anything? Everybody sins. If you don't like him, don't vote for him....

8. Why is it against policy to hand out aspirin, but condoms are handed out freely? Why are teachers routinely asking for kids to put on medication...??? We expect parents to buy cookies, magazines, nuts, donate for this and that to keep the schools afloat, but they should have no say if the schools hand out condoms... to say 6th graders?

9. Are only movie stars/actors and athletes allowed to call it a disease?

10. If you owned some multi-national corporations what type of control would you want the government to have ?

11. Jesus loves you and shares your hatred of republicans, George Bush.

12. Saddam was always a bad guy, some policies don't work out. Hindsight is always 20/20. Lets look at of all of your decisions? Who have you trusted in your lifetime? Bin Laden was always a bad guy too....( Just so you know )

This was not really about defending everything George Bush has done, it was more to poke holes in your flimsy arguments.... I suggest you seek counseling IMMEDIATELY, the hatred you have is not healthy, he is a lame duck.... It is almost over... Sit down, relax, make a drink, self medicate if you must..... You are becoming delusional. Complaining about the past, twisting it in your mind to produce so much hatred, is not very constructive...... May I suggest knitting?

a war crimminal!

Did I miss his trial? Here do me a favor, write this in a letter to the secret service. They are for the most part a neutral party, I'm sure if something this serious has gone unreported, they might want to know...... You know, for security reasons....

You have a fantastic imagination, you should be a fiction writer............ oh, yeah, never mind.....

Regardless of who is elected..... They are the representation of this country, like it or not. Being a free country we are allowed to voice our opinions..... But as far as the world is concerned, I think we live in the greatest country in the history of the world, and we are living in a very unique period of time...... I stand as one with this country and whoever is elected..... I do it show respect for the office, for the citizens. Like it or not, we are still the UNITED STATES of AMERICA......

I do not have to agree with every elected official, nor their decisions, or their policies to be a proud American, and to support our leader. This is what makes our country so great. I love my family, I do not look at every mistake they make and throw them to the wolves because they are not acting as I wish them to...... I do not storm around kicking and screaming and throwing temper tantrums because I did not get my way. Even if I don't always agree with them, they are still my family, and I am proud be part of this family... I accept them as a whole, not every decision they make......

I use this same philosophy as a citizen of this country. I am proud to be an American, my personal beliefs are just those........ Like it or not they represent us for the next 4 years.

I do not follow the leader blindly, I simply respect they have been elected into that position. And live my life trying to be the best person I can. I see no reason to cause any additional harm by showing my disapproval, trying to gain further political control in the future.... I find the actions of many of the elected democrats on the edge of being a traitor....... All in the name of making the current President look bad, to gain political favor..... The proper word for this is perhaps a mutiny...

Forsaking the good of the country to regain political power. It, makes me sick......

But I'm still a proud American regardless of many of your leftest ideas.

Congrats! It's not easy defending a war crimminal!

Here we go again...more idiotic "one side's better...or worse...or different...than the other" drivel...

Not to defend Bushie...he's a bad joke....but to lay Iraq strictly on him is ludicrous...

Read the wording of the resolution authorizing Bushie to do what he would do with Iraq...read the list of Dems who voted yes on it....and listen to the same Dems now trying to dance their way around voting for it...

And oh yeah...Bushie couldn't have paid for gas for one Humvee without congress (repubs AND dems alike) authorizing it...

Whatever criminal acts there may or may not be, if there are any at all, congress (Dems included!) is just as "guilty" as Bushie and his chickenhawks are...the blood of this comedy of errors Iraq fiasco is on the hands of many...repubs and dems alike...not just on Bushie...

And BTW...does anyone really think Obama wouldn't have voted yes too had he been there to vote???

.............. .......

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/CIA_and_Contras_cocaine_trafficking_in_the_US

.....Reagan Administration admits Contra-cocaine connections
On April 17, 1986, the Reagan Administration released a three page report acknowledging that there were some Contra-cocaine connections in 1984 and 1985, arguing that these connections occurred at a time when the rebels were "particularly hard pressed for financial support" because U.S. aid had been cut off. The report admitted that "We have evidence of a limited number of incidents in which known drug traffickers have tried to establish connections with Nicaraguan resistance groups." The report tried to downplay the drug activity, claiming that it took place "without the authorization of resistance leaders."[7]

when a Pres resorts to breaking the law to get his own way.. it is never apples and oranges...it is still what it is...slime...

It was not "apples and oranges." You said Bush couldn't spend a dime without Congressional approval, and I just reminded you that certain preceding Presidents are infamous for finding a way around what Congress has specifically forbidden them to spend money on. I've little doubt Shrub and Sure-Shot wouldn't have managed to find some rationalization for doing what they wanted anyway.

...After the fact of the act, how convenient mass memories have become. And those selective memories are the best the Left can bring to the front as a presidential candidate?

...They were worthless in Congress and but a wet dream today, that will become another spot on the sheet to be washed out by the citizens of the US tomorrow.

...Once again ... left or right, we are all screwed by more of the same.

one small problem with this rewrite... Bush et al lied to the american public..who then wanted blood for the death of innocents..and what politician was going to go against what the american public thought was the right plan of attack..until they ( the american public) found out it was based on not one lie...but LIES......
