Jimbo That's right sister boy....and I meant every word.
When a right wing Canandian thinks he has the right to call people that think outside his little box morons and start defending can only C&P...never an original thought Hope the name calling makes you feel better Jimbo. Now please address the points I made in my post which prove you wrong.
The box which you seem to believe you think outside is nothing but rhetoric which you feel that can only be supported by name calling. Which is why I stated that your post and blog was not very smart as it lacked factual basis and was easily disproved by some light research into Quitbism which you nor your supporters have done. As for calling you anything, I did not. I merely stated why your were wrong, explained that only morons believed that the problem was as simple as 'payback' and that your post with some research could be a smart one rather than a severely misinformed one. Then, I provided quotes and links to prove and support my points which you totally ignored preferring to call me names and conduct bigotry to my person instead.
I know from experience on forums that being from another country is perfectly fine until it contrasts with their opinion at which time, idiots without the intelligence or knowledge to actually debate an issue use that amongst name calling to carry out their agenda and hope that you will, at some point address my post rather than call me a 'little coc*sucker' and 'sister boy' that you can actually come out with some proof of your own rather than simple name calling.
Music MonsterI've never known of an American Military person to have required 5 years of training, and still be completely unable to do the job. I've never known an entire government to be built, police force, beaurocracy, elections conducted and an entire military to be trained in a divided tribal country all the while an insurgency is taking place. It is really not as simple as training one guy to fit into an existing military which is standing solid in an existing government in peacetime. It is surprising they have come as far as they have already.

Since this thread has been revived from obscurity:
Jimbo's hallucinations are not to be believed (again and as usual,) I'm pretty sure that Jimbo's comments date back to a wee bit earlier than yours. The Crusades, for instance, happened half a millenium prior to the Barbary pirates. (And the constant refrain of Muslims bringing up the Crusades is annoying, as they completely forget their invasions as far as southern France, deep into the Balkans, and constant naval battles in the Mediterranean...).
And the Barbary pirates were more a symptom of the Mediterranean sea, rather than religion. Unless the pirates inhabiting the area (going back to the time of Egypt) happened to be retconned into being Muslim.
And, in any event, even after that speech of "Millions for Defense," the United States after the First Barbary War went back to paying tribute for another decade. Admittedly, the last two or three years, the US was distracted (the War of 1812), but the remainder of that period?
It's a good slogan. Unfortunately, the main people who carried out the slogan was the Portugese, who turned the pirates' haven into a colony.
The stuff they teach in high school history tends to be a bit light on, well, actual history... (Names, places, dates, and simplified events, yes. But actual history? Nope...)
