you are a star athlete and going to church.

Or why I do not watch most pro sports anymore.

The Pittsburgh Steelers just released a little used receiver by the name of Cedrick Wilson after he was arrested for punching his wife in the face last evening at a local restaurant.

"We're extremely disappointed with this incident,'' Steelers chairman Dan Rooney said this morning. "The Steelers do not condone violence of any kind, especially against women

A few weeks ago, one of the Steeler stars by the name of James Harrison, was arrested for the same scenerio, but was not released by the Steelers.

Why was Harrison not released by the Steelers? Please be seated and place all drinks far away from the computer.

In Harrison's case, Rooney said the player was trying to take his son to be baptized. "What Jimmy Harrison was doing and how the incident occurred, what he was trying to do was really well worth it," Rooney said of Harrison's initial intent. "He was doing something that was good, wanted to take his son to get baptized where he lived and things like that. She said she didn't want to do it."

I cannot even comment on this one. The words say it all.

DISCLAIMER: The lack of moral judgment, ethics, and honor exhibited by the two mentioned in the story was NOT caused by their involvement in the great sport of Football. Please do not assume that Football (the sport, not any particular league) condones or promotes such behavior in those involved in it.

The game is not corrupt - it is the owners. Baseball, Football and Basketball have a win at any cost attitude and have left their dignity behind many years ago. There are hundreds of examples.

Here in Baltimore - When Roberto Alomar spit in an umpires face several years ago the Orioles defended him and because they were to be in the playoffs postponed his suspension.

Reggie Lewis was involved in a murder several years ago - of course an All Pro linebacker like Lewis was made a victim when he was acquitted was back on the field playing for the Ravens immediately.

Pro sports have descended to the gutter.

I won't spend a penny on watching these thugs.

I am a Pro Bull Riding Fan - You won't see a Cowboy doing things like that. They wear their hat straight, their pants aren't falling down, no tattoos on their necks and face and you wont hear them cussing or hear about them slapping their wives around in public.

nope - the leagues have proven that they could care less about players behavior or in the case of Baseball = drugs.

The players unions have ruined these sports. In Baseball the Union prevents adequate drug testing. They have ruined the sport.

In Basketball I read that more than 40% of the Pro Players have felony records.

YOUR comment implies that Cowboys are rednecks. Several have college degrees. They salute the flag before events and behave and dress like gentlemen. Most are good Christians and good family men.

Check it out sometime.

While the Cowboys will challenge your values you may even enjoy it!

OK....I see.

It's OK to smack someone around if you are trying to force your religious beliefs on them.

Actually, I drove the real Cowboys home from their little pet riding escapades every weekend when I was stationed in El Paso. I had to drive because I was the only one in the car sober enough to get behind the wheel. I've seen it, and it was quite boring. Not quite as boring as NASCAR mind you, but boring nonetheless.

Most are good Christians and good family men.

Some aren't family men, and some aren't Christians. If you're going to bitch about stereotypes, then don't do it yourself.

I wouldn't have a problem with a young boy looking up to Braylon Edwards, Derek Anderson, Trent Dilfer, or Joe Thomas. Fine athletes and model members of their respective communities.

Wife beaters are wife beaters no matter who you are but this should be handled different, not by the law but by the organization they are paid by.
Male sports figures in particular. They are idols for young men who love the sport and imagine themselves one day being in the big leagues themselves.
When they see one player suspended and not another for the same reason because they were "doing something good" they will only assume its allright to beat on your wife so long as you have a good reason.
There isnt one for striking a woman except in self defense.
If the club doesnt suspend them the league should.

Not my boy.

And they don't have to be any child's hero unless they are taught that way.

WOW!

How can you people watch any sports that have people like this involved? A wife beater? It must be the fault of the organisation they work for and their boss should be investigated by Congress!!!!!!!!!!!!
