...And while Obama's Chicago has outlawed guns for years... apparently, the criminals don't really care about laws.
CHICAGO, Illinois (AP) -- An epidemic of gunfire rattled the city during the weekend, with at least 32 people shot and six killed. Police Superintendent Jody Weis blamed an excess of guns and gangs for the rash of violence. "There are just too many weapons here," Weis said at a news conference Sunday. "Too many guns, too many gangs." At the time of that news conference, the toll was 26 separate shootings and four deaths. Later, three more shootings were reported within two hours on the West Side late Sunday and early Monday, resulting in two more deaths and four more people wounded, police said. Watch police say number of shootings not so unusual ยป The other weekend shootings were scattered all over the city. Police said they included gang shootings, drive-by attacks, and even one case in which someone used an AK-47 to shoot up a plumbing supply store. http://www.cnn.com/2008/CRIME/04/21/chicago.shootings.ap/index.html?iref=werecommend

Sad.
And Oklahoma City is getting nearly as bad. It's seems there is some type of shooting or killing nearly everyday. And sometimes innocent children are killed in drive-bys.
I couldn't wait to get away from a small town. Now I'm ready to go back to that kind of life.

Jankia: I'm just glad my old man got us out of that territory when I was five SG. ...Same as with my Dad and East St. Louis, where he worked for McDonnell Aircraft. At one time, it was apparently a beautiful city, but what a siht hole that place is today. If you go down to the far east end, you will not even find a cop patrolling.

bandt: I couldn't wait to get away from a small town. Now I'm ready to go back to that kind of life. ...Unless it was an actual homicide, most large cities are grossly underreporting assaults, by the comparison of what the hospitals are reporting, to not rate so high on the bad city list. NYC reports but about a 1/3 of them.
...Grown adults can make choices, whereas kids have no choice when attending public schools, or enduring the gang banger mentality that has been classified as modern American culture.
...A couple of months ago, they found 5 women dead in a department store up there and not a clue who did it.

And that's why my son attends a small rural school, not one in the OKC school system. It may be a little out of the way, but well worth it.

I'm sure those gangstas are just the bitter people clinging to their guns cause they're pissed at government that 'Bama was talking about and they were just expressing their displeasure...and you know 'Bama just wants to help them...I know he does cause I heard him say it myself...

I am not a supporter of the NRA! But, I do support the 2nd Amendment "The Right to Keep and Bear Arms"! And no one....I mean no one city, state, municiple authority or any other law making entity should be able to change that amendment in anyway, shape or form!
I am sure there are others that believe as I do....they can have my weapon as soon as they pry it from my cold dead fingers!
When you give up your right to arm yourself you give up your right to life that very same day!

katt: Well, Obama better get back to his home town and take those guns away from those people! ...Being a past board member of the Joyce Foundation, Obama is only going to take the means of defense away from non-criminals, as they have in Chicago.

lefty: When you give up your right to arm yourself you give up your right to life that very same day! ...My Grandfather used to say that a gun is your last form of life insurance and it is no good if empty. But, I grew up around them and another tool, that if not familiar with, scares a lot of folks... sort of like their first driving lesson in city traffic.

bandt: And that's why my son attends a small rural school, not one in the OKC school system. ...As the Chicago Police Supt. Jody Weis said...

I'm NRA...have been for a long time...and though there are some things I don't see eye to eye on them with, I am firmly convinced that the NRA is the ONLY reason we still have our somewhat watered down 2nd amendment rights at all...

No city is immune from the proliferation of illegal guns, gangs and drugs. Of course no city or even school is immune. It's everywhere, esp in the majority of schools in my city.
That's why I try to be aware of what's going on....in my city and especially in my son's school.

Alive: I'm NRA...have been for a long time...and though there are some things I don't see eye to eye on them with, I am firmly convinced that the NRA is the ONLY reason we still have our somewhat watered down 2nd amendment rights at all... ...You are absolutely correct, because without the NRA, there would be no rights left. They have been diligent in defending.

bandt: Of course no city or even school is immune. It's everywhere, esp in the majority of schools in my city. ...The larger the city, the larger the problems. Sure, rural areas have drug issues, most brought from the city kids that were expelled, but everyone knows who they are.
...There is no such thing as hiding from rural gossip.

Too many guns, too many gangs." And if they weren't using guns they would be using knives, forks, bats, rocks, pens, or whatever they could get their hands on. That is because that is the type of people they are. Guns or no guns they would behave the same way, it is their nature. To blame the gun for the action and decision of people is irresponsible and unrealistic. Not unexpected though, unfortunately.
You are absolutely correct, because without the NRA, there would be no rights left. They have been diligent in defending Too bad we can't find some what to take the offense in that arena. We should not have to defend what was given to us by the blood and lives of those that founded this nation. Seems backwards to me. But it is what it is.

I do have to wonder how many shottings it would take for the Govenor to step in and maybe have some martial law?
That is more killings than Oakland/Richmond out here.

Seal: And if they weren't using guns they would be using knives, forks, bats, rocks, pens, or whatever they could get their hands on. ...One of the most notorious gangsters of Chicago, Al Capone, could not easily purchase Thompson machine guns; the fully automatic weapon of the day. No problem, as he simply hired a gunsmith to make them for him.
...They cannot keep out people, let alone drugs, so how could they possibly control guns from the criminals?
Katt: I do have to wonder how many shottings it would take for the Govenor to step in and maybe have some martial law? ...Obama helped make Chicago a sanctuary city, much like Rudy and NYC which led to 9-11. Our governor backs it and basically, it is hands off Illegals there, where over a million exist, who compete with mainly blacks on a poverty level, which provides crime as a more profitable alternative for both; with constant gang issues.
...Meantime, Illinois leads the nation as the state of financial disaster, with over $10 billion borrowed from the pension funds.

I've heard from others that the GOA(Gun Owners of America, which was formed in 1975) is better than the NRA at protecting Second Amendment rights and a number of people have left the NRA to join the GOA.
Link Link2 Interesting to see what the GOA had to say about John McCain Link3

What is really puzzling about this is why it is puzzling at all. There are over six billion people on this planet all competing for the same resources--and more are born every day. Given our species' history of using violence to resolve disputes, it is actually miraculous that more people are not killed every day.
