This issue will, in my opinion, decide the Presidential race in November! I have said all along Clinton would beat McCain. That Obama would have some major issues to overcome. This is "the" major issue for Obama right behind is his lying!
I grew up in a state that supported segregation. Just like the rest of the south. I did not understand about racism or segregation until I was much older. Only then did I realize our Constitution meant that all men were created equal except African-Americans!
Our country is still racist to the core....among other things! It is kept much quieter now because it is not proper in some company.
Many of my friends and others I have talked to that supported Clinton have stated in no uncertain terms their support for some other candidate. Though not necessarily McCain.
My reason for not supporting Obama is.....he lied about Reverend Wright and his racist remarks while preaching to Obama for 20 years. Then Obama said, or words close to these, I never heard him say anything like that! Yeah right!!
Now. what do you think?
Obama's race is now a campaign issue

There is no "Now" about it. Race has been an issue, since the outset of the primary season. It was an issue in the primary, with Hillary & it will be an issue in the election against McCain (Just as his age will be an issue).

...Personally, when Obama pulled the race card of being black, I lost any remaining respect for him as a person... let alone as a Presidential candidate.
...Regardless, the race issue has always been there, as he does not have one drop of slavery black blood in his veins, but rather quite the opposite... in that he does have the 7/16 Arab blood that sold the slaves into slavery that he "forgets" to mention. I truly wish the black race would get their head out of their butts and realize the fake he is in representing them.

Clinton would beat McCain. That Obama would have some major issues to overcome the fact of the matter is her negatives outnumber his.
also when you say NOW, I don;t get it! you outta touch or something? race has been, still is and always will be an issue. despite that, although it's kinda too early to call it but Obama still beats McCain in almost every single poll

Obama was an unknown Freshman Senator. But this is what we now know:
He lies:
He promised to accept public financing. He said in 20 years he never heard Pastor Jeremiah Wright say anything racist He could no more disavow Pastor Wright than he could his white grandmother He vowed support for Israel AFTER he puts the Hamas fund raiser on his webpage and his other staffer is meeting with Hamas. He says he has traveled to 57 States and there are 3 more to go. He says he was never a Muslim but his book recounts his childhood days in Indonesia attending Koran Class in School.
He is opportunistic
He undercut Senator Clinton rather than gain seniority in D.C. He is ruthless
He stabbed Hillary in the back at the DNC Rules Committee, stole all of the Michigan uncommitted Delegates and reduced the voting rights of the Michigan and Florida to being only 1/2 a voter.
After stabbing Hillary in the back and doing the "grant theft" delegates thingy at the DNC, just a few days later he praised Hillary up and down, AFTER he went over the top in the delegate count. Turns out, he didnt NEED to stab Hillary in the Back after all, nor did he have to support the half a voter sanction at the DNC Rules Committee, since he had enough Superdelegates to put him over the top.
Obama is a cross between Richard Nixon (for lying) and David Duke (for his anti-white reverse racism) and the "Man without a Country" (for supporting Jeremiah Wright's "G*D Damn America" views.

all politicians lie .. but what I am reading here is that if you are black it is a bigger deal ... some of your (pl) racism is showing.. sort of like how everyones true colors finally come out.
racists in 2008 should be in a minority.. think about it.. you are all just grumpy old men who are living in the past..
between obama and mccain... the cold hard facts support obama...it is your emotions that are telling you to vote for mccain..

If Obama is THE MOST LIBERAL US SENATOR, then why should moderate Americans vote for someone who is the candidate that is closest to SOCIALISM in the USA?

Since we survived 8 years of "bush et al" we certainly would survive and imho do so much better under THE MOST LIBERAL US SENATOR as compared to " the clone of bush et al"
this is not the movies, where there are "take two's" and "do overs.." it is real life...

GH: between obama and mccain... the cold hard facts support obama...it is your emotions that are telling you to vote for mccain.. ...You are at least right about "emotions!" ... I have no use for the anti-American racist Obama, let alone in public office that represents the people, all the people of America.
...Personally, I would vote for Colin Powel in a heartbeat over McCain, but even though a Republican vote in Illinois is probably worthless, it is still going to be McCain this year.
as compared to " the clone of bush et al" ...That is BS GH, as McCain has been bi-partisan on numerous bills over the years and too liberal for the conservative.
...He voted against off shore drilling, a major issue for Bush. Now, that China is drilling off our shores, he has changed his views, as he should have a long time ago and we would not have $5 gas this summer.
...Know it well, in that with McCain's bi-partisan endorsement of Kennedy's mass amnesty bill, among others, he is not a favorite of the Republican people, but still not a racist bigot.
...Congress will either wake up and do their job, or Obama will continue with his push of Socialism, or if allowed, even Marxism to the maximum. By his own speeches, he fully intends to disarm America, which is still behind in technology from the Clinton era of donating same to China.
...In conclusion, the left claims they dislike racism and bigotry, but here they are, as if blind, deaf and dumb, standing side by side with one. The fact remains, the left has a price and sadly, it has evolved into a very cheap one.

Please explain to us just exactly what the price is.

OMG....I shutter to think what some folks are going to do when Obama is elected...
Also, you stated that you don't support Obama because he lied about the Rev. Wright. Then you refer to "the left" as if you are not in that category. It just seems like you would not support a Democratic candidate regardless.

Just to clarify a point that has come up on this thread about John McCain and his reaching across the isle to join Democrats. He has done this many times. So many times he has earned the nickname "Maverick"!
Now, understand I personally cannot stand McCain for reasons I have mentioned many times before. But, when the truth is the truth I believe in mentioning it just to keep things in perspective.
Some of these links are from right-wing writers and some from left-wing writers. So you have a choice whom you prefer.
Deja Vu with a shudder

McCain the Maverick?

he sold out to get this far...and as such, is now being called "the clone of bush". He is only called "clone of Bush", by liberal democrats, who want to paint him with that brush. Bush is one of the least popular presidents in history, so the dems want to tie the republican nominee to Bush's policies. If the repubs had nominated Ralph Nader, the dems would be calling him a "clone of Bush" as well.
McCain has voted against Bush's policies more than any republican in the Senate. Calling him a clone of Bush, is like calling Obama a clone of Osama. Neither is grounded in truth.
Then again, since when has truth or fact ever mattered in politics, or in this forum?

Then again, since when has truth or fact ever mattered in politics, or in this forum? I frequently bombast against George W. Bush where he has failed miserably, and in like manner I have deflected many an unjust or lie-based attack on the President.
While I see world events from the right wing viewpoint, I do not tell lies per se which is a hallmark of the leftist political propaganda philosophy.

everyone.. please stop and comprehend.. McCain's past record cannot be used, as he has changed his whole persona, since he threw his hat into the ring, to try to become POTUS..
If he reverts back to his old self... then he lied to all you republicans.. if he continues with this new improved McCain.. he is just a clone of bush...
now do you get it?

I dont know all the inns and outs about American politics........but if I were an American.......I would be hoping McCain would get elected.....despite his age. I feel the country would be much more secure with him as President. And security for me would be the first thing on my mind. JMO

now do you get it? Oh, so what you are saying, is that any politician who lies, or who flip flops on issues is a clone of Bush. So, by that measure, Bill Clinton, John Kerry, Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama are also clones of Bush. Thanks for the clarification.
