Obama wrote a book that spotlighted his confessed attraction to Marxism and how he hung out with Marxist professors and clubs while in college.
So from that you know Obama is now Marxist, huh???
Using that logic I guess we can safely assume GWB now deals coke....and still drinks a lot...

It is lamentable that Obama's mother did not fully cognite upon the substantial merits of her Roe v.Wade abortion rights. Would have been hard considering the case wasn't to be decided for another 11-1/2 years yet when Senator Obama was born.

After the fall of the Communist government of the Soviet Union, when the KGB records were opened to the world, we discovered the list of all the Americans in high places within the US government that were on the KGB payroll, which fact of course now absolves Senator Eugene McCarthy as having been correct in his assertion that there were many communists in high places in the American government. Eugene McCarthy, a member of Minnesota's Democratic-Farmer-Labor Party, was elected to the Senate in 1948. He held left of centre political views and was an early critic of Joseph McCarthy. As a member of the Democratic Party he was elected to the Senate in 1958 and in 1960 supported Adlai Stevenson against the candidacy of John F. Kennedy.

Well, the names were disclosed from the KGB files, making your latest assertion total turdiction.
As has been stated OH GAWD so many times (do I have to use a rubber mallet to pound it into your head???), a bipartisan effort was already underway to root out the Soviet spies. It was known. It was being handled. And all without political grandstanding.
McCarthy's "list of names" speech was simply an attempt to attack the Truman administration, to polarize the government, and to gain political capital. It had f*ck-all to do with rooting out Soviet spies.
So retreat into denial yet again (how many fricking times must this be explained to you?), but the fact remains: McCarthy attacked the people who were searching for the Soviet spies. He threatened national security for personal political gain. He was a shyster, a cretin, a tool.
He will never, absolutely NEVER, be "rehabilitated." His place in history is assured: the man who cared more about his own power than the safety of the nation.

No matter what his tactics were, the fact remains that as to his main issue of contention, he was in fact correct.
Which fact now surfaces to embarrass you Napa in your continued attempts to perpetuate a lie.

Strangely enough, I got my information from a CONSERVATIVE historian who specializes in the political science of the late 40s/early 50s. (Links posted in a thread a couple times ago when you brought this up...)
On what do you base your information? I hope you have something better than an expert in the field who has spent years researching the data you keep citing?
C'mon, Para. McCarthy will never be rehabilitated. He was a no-name junior Senator who got political power by manipulating the system, at the risk of our country's safety.
But I guess in your book, if it gets conservatives in power, to hell with the country, right?

The problem, Lacy, is that he doesn't know anything about Joseph McCarthy, either. He only has years of conservative propaganda on which to form his opinion. He's been confronted in the past with EXPERT ANALYSIS showing that Joseph McCarthy's actions endangered the investigation into the Soviet spies.
He's just too pig-headed to admit he's mistaken. Because we all know that Para thinks he knows everything...

How kind of you to portray me in this manner. Occasionally I do err, such as when I referred to Joseph McCarthy as Eugene McCarthy, however all the facts that I asserted were in fact true, although I did err in a first name.
But actually it is amazing for me to read these forums and see just how much legend is passed around with spin under the guise of being truth.

He didn't lie about it. And there's been absolutely no evidence he did. Some choose to believe he lied. But most of them wouldn't accept any type of explantion, much less the perfectly rational one Obama's provided over and over again. The edited to look worse than it was, sound-bite looped, Rev Wright sermon is a mute point to most of his supporter. It's Obama opponents that are trying to keep it alive in hopes that it will make a difference some day, which it won't.

Yeah O....it will make a difference...it'll be what keeps what should be a slam dunk win for the dems close...
The film itself and Obama trying to slickly say he never personally heard that kind of talk from Wright, or was unaware of it even going on, will keep it alive and in the news, which it rightfully should be. It's not anything personal towards Obama or, much as you'd like it to be so, nothing towards his race. It's just that there are plenty of folks sick and tired of being lied to, BS'd, and played by slimeball politicians pretending to be something they aren't while sweet talking you for your vote. Probably not enough to stop Obama from winning this time (he IS pretty damn slick!!), but maybe it'll be enough to start a trend down the road.

He won the nomination with people knowing about Wright. So unless there's another revelation, like a video of him sitting there while Wright is carrying on, I don't think it's going to re-service as an real issue in the general election. I think people are more upset with dirty politics than politicians being politicians.
