I absolutely hate the ruling – but I agree with the reasoning behind it!
It is “UNCONSTUTIONAL” to put a child molester to death – the supreme court is correct in holding up the constitution. THAT IS THEIR JOB.
It’s OUR dumb ass job to amend the constitution, and it’s OUR FAULT that it hasn’t been done yet! (yes I said it! It’s not the judge, not the supreme court, and NOT the attorneys fault, its OUR FUALT)
The Supreme Court’s job is to protect our constitutional rights and prevent anyone from getting around it. (oh, like wire tapping, and imprisonment without charge or access to an attorney.. ding dang it.. had to toss that one in there.) The constitution in clear writing defines who is eligible for a one way to meet god – child molesters are not defined in it. This gives the states and our law makers a chance to amend the constitution in favor of a death penalty to one of our most evil criminals.
Take a moment and step back from your keyboard and thank the Supreme Court for doing the right thing in upholding the constitution. At the same time, pick up your phone and call your local congressman and give them an ear full of how pissed you are that they are not working on getting the constitution amended.
On a personal note....
as soon as the monster is convicted - A SOLID CONVICTION - no quesiton as to innocence - every family member gets a stone issued, every person in the community who suffered because of the crime gets a stone.. and in a pit, we all get our chance to throw our one stone - whats left (if alive), gets to go to prison to the showers for a clean up.
Go vote. It’s an American thing.
Peace!!

slather the motherf***ers in gravy and throw them in a cage with a rabid, starving wolverine with AIDS. or put them in a catapult and launch them straight into a brick wall with spikes jutting out.

Oh yes, as a family memeber, I should have a "hand" in it! In many circumstances the family members of the child rape victim are the same family members of the child molester. Stranger child rapists are even worse. Jesus said it would be better for those who hurt his little ones, for them to have a stone around their necks and be cast into the sea.
At the risk of being attacked as someone who would impose his religion on others under color of law, I think Jesus had something going there; lets strap these monsters to a chair in an execution water chamber with a glass wall for the benefit of the official witnesses and then let us read the death warrant and then simply turn on the spicots until the water is over his or her head.

With such an overwhelming cry for swift and "final" justice for these creatures, why is it so hard to have the death penalty in every state used in cases like this? What majority of America would actually want to feed, protect and attempt to rehabilitate these monsters?

With such an overwhelming cry for swift and "final" justice for these creatures, why is it so hard to have the death penalty in every state used in cases like this? What majority of America would actually want to feed, protect and attempt to rehabilitate these monsters? I guess it is because the members of the court are not elected and they are appointed for life. All it takes is for five of these idiots to decide that something is the law of the land and magically, it is. Legal precedence and the constitution can be ignored, any time that five people decide to ignore it. The law only means what five people decide that it means.
In this case, they got it wrong. Five are opposed to the death penalty, so they chose to ignore the law and impose their will on the nation. It certainly is not the first time that this has happened and it won't be the last.
Sometimes you have to wonder why we have not had a real life happening, like what took place in The Pelican Brief. If there truly was a vast right wing conspiracy within the USA, four justices would have suffered unusual deaths, in the first part of this decade, when there was a repub president and a repub congress. If there were five conservatives on the supreme court, this ruling would not have happened.
BTW, not everyone agrees that it is a bad ruling. There are a lot of people in this nation who are opposed to the death penalty, regardless of the crime committed. Some of them are very well educated, intelligent, reasonable people. We are one of few nations in the western world that still has the death penalty and many nations consider us to be somewhat barbaric because of it.
Personally, I disagree. I think that the problem that we have with the death penalty, is not that we have it, but that we do not use it, nearly enough.

get a grip...you are going off the deep end when you bring up fiction to bolster your argument.. the fact is that the death penalty is not rehabilitative.. think about it...

those monsters, those despicable f***s can't be rehabilitated. and why even try? once they're convicted, kill them brutally like the nasty, non-human shitbags they are. they are the dried up dick cheese on the cock of the oldest, nastiest man on earth who hasn't washed himself in twenty years and should be treated as such.
kill them all

Child abuser gets 4,060-year prison sentence
12:00 AM CDT on Thursday, July 3, 2008 The Associated Press
WEATHERFORD, Texas – A man was sentenced to more than 4,000 years in prison Wednesday for sexually assaulting three teenage girls over two years.
Jurors sentenced James Kevin Pope to 40 life prison terms – one for each sex assault conviction – and 20 years for each of the three convictions on sexual performance of a child.
At the request of prosecutors, state District Judge Graham Quisenberry ordered Mr. Pope to serve the sentences consecutively, adding up to 4,060 years. He will be eligible for parole in the year 3209, according to the Parker County district attorney's office.
Mr. Pope, 43, of Springtown, abused the girls for nearly two years, and it came to authorities' attention this year after he made several inappropriate comments to a friend who notified Child Protective Service....
