I dont think many will do that today.....not in the 2000;s......so many people have been screwed up emotionally from it in the past.....I doubt if any parent today would continue doing it. (well not in their right mind anyway)

The problem withe the draft is multiple fold:
Too many youngsters have:
1. Criminal records
2. Visible tatoos
3. Prescriptions to psychtropic meds.
Hitting a child only teaches resentment and causes problems later in life.
There are better ways to motivate other than physical punishment.

Many adults are still affected to this day.....from the beetings and whippings they have had as a child. And for some........it never goes away......part of them has been destroyed because of it.

I am sure that bamagary mean "beatings" like just spanking. Not a beat down. I had my butt whooped when I was a kid and I turned out fine, I didn't and don't resent my parents and my son doesn't resent me. He turned out fine too. I think kids get away with way to much these days and do need an butt whoopin sometimes, there are a few parents in my town who deserve one for letting their kids act the way they do. JMHO

do you agree with whipping your child or not. NOT I got my ass tanned so good a few times I had to have my mom write me out a pass to get out of phyed so other students wouldnt see the damages done. Did I quit raising hell as a kid because of the penalty for getting caught?...nope. I dont blame my pa for whippin me,I had it coming but if he had taken away my car or made me remove all the manure from the barn by hand,I might have had second thoughts about raising hell. It wasnt easy for pa to raise six boys or to use a belt on us. I raised four girls and a boy myself and never laid a hand on them, but they did miss there car and a few of there favorite activities now and then. There is worse pain then a whipping for a kid.

i raised one son alone. maybe twice in his life i whipped him. i like to think it was respect. but really i think it was fear. he turned out real well. when i was a kid. i got lots of whipping. but 99 percent of the time i deserve them. i remember my father telling me this hurts me more then it hurts you. i use to wonder hows that. but when had to spank my child. i new what my father meant.

Everyone should serve NO.
LOL the military called last week and yano what I said?
"I am bisexual and if you let me in I'll tell everyone. I'll also hit on all the chicks and try to get them to have sex with me.
Oh, I'm also bipolar."
The guy said:
"OH, Um...never mind." and then he hung up.
They don't want me, Para.

...From my experiences, as well as raising four sons alone, each child is different. Some respond to spanking, while others respond to being reasoned with, shamed.
...Myself, my parents could beat on me all day and defiant, I would never cry. But, I could be reasoned with, shamed and feel the tears coming. My parents never figured that one out.
...Thus, "one size" fitting all children, is not the answer and never will be.
...But whatever it takes for the child to be disciplined, parents need to teach them at home, before bringing brats into the public, such as restaurants.
...Listening to some dumb ass parent count to 10, the kid is not going to stop whatever until 9 3/4. The fact is, the kid is smarter than the parent and I have been know to tell parents that exact same thing.
...Today, through the lack of parental responsibility for child discipline, over 3 million kids and growing are taking the behavioral drugs Ritalin and Luvox as parent substitutes... with no end in sight. Yet, dozens of violent crimes have been committed by these children, including the Columbine massacre.
...If anyone ever attended a Catholic school with Nuns, they also realize there were very few kids diagnosed with ADHD or other behavioral issues. After that ol sister wrapped your hand with a ruler, you paid attention.
...In conclusion, only for a small percentage of children are drugs required, whereas for the remainder, it is the parent's responsibility to define and create discipline in their children. If they don't want to raise their children, then don't have them.

SG- it is the parent's responsibility to define and create discipline in their children. Couldnt agree more SG,but thats part of the problem today...responsibility. How responsible can parents be to there children when so many arent responsible to each other?
Bama-it should be a law. like in Israel or Russia. at 18 you must serve. I agree bama to a point.Every kid capable should have to go through some sort of "boot camp".After its completed they dont necessarily have to serve this country in the military but do have to serve a year in community service for it.

SG...If anyone ever attended a Catholic school with Nuns, they also realize there were very few kids diagnosed with ADHD or other behavioral issues. After that ol sister wrapped your hand with a ruler, you paid attention. Oh my gosh! that happened to me! Was out at recess and a kid passed out bazooka bubble gum (was my favorite). Just a few minutes after class started, I blew the biggest bubble you ever saw! The sister came up behind me and popped it with her ruler and I got my underside hands beat.
No I didn't have ADHD...lol. I just loved Bazooka!
