This is a thread microcosm where conservatives and liberals get along.
Find something nice to say to the person above you,even if they are of a different political persuasion.
Maybe in some small way you are helping to make the world a better place by building bridges to people that think different than you.

Ken opened this thread, in a topic that I feel that has too long been lacking. As a group, many of us (myself included) often attack the person & not the idea. The idea of this thread, to try to bring more civility and to encourage discussion, rather than ideological rants, is a good one.

Say_Yes has demonstrated on quite a few occasions that he is at least willing to admit there is another school of thought, without demonizing it's adherents simply because they are not in complete agreement with his, and that sometimes ideas can be exchanged with each holding to the merits in their own eyes but without rancor. He epitomizes that there can be civil debate.  (I didn't chime in earlier and say something nice about Ken, because he and I are freqeuntly in agreement and it didn't seem to be in the bipartisan spirit the thread was intending. But if I can comment twice, Ken is a nice guy and also exhibits thinking about his opinions, rather than just toeing a party line.)

I love reading Nightowl's posts even if I don't necessarily agree entirely. They're always clear, well thought out and well written. He's not one for sniping at people and is both intelligent and knowledgeable - truthfully I'd say the same for both the guys above him too.
