alive, I have to agree. All of the talk about Obama's campaign being grassroots with small personal donations appears to be another Obama Myth. He is just another politician. No More. No Less.
From IHT
http://www.iht.com/articles/2008/08/05/america/bundlers.php
Big donors are the key to Obama's record haul By Michael M. Luo and Christopher Drew
In an effort to cast himself as independent of the influence of money on politics, Senator Barack Obama often highlights the campaign contributions of $200 or less that have amounted to fully half of the $340 million he has collected so far.
But records show that a third of his record-breaking haul has come from donations of $1,000 or more - a total of $112 million, more than the total of contributions in that category taken in by either Senator John McCain, his Republican rival, or Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton, his opponent in the Democratic primaries.
Behind those large donations is a phalanx of more than 500 Obama "bundlers," fund-raisers who have each collected contributions totaling $50,000 or more. Many of the bundlers come from industries with critical interests in Washington. Nearly three dozen of the bundlers have raised more than $500,000, including more than a half-dozen who have passed the $1 million mark and one or two who have exceeded $2 million, according to interviews with fund-raisers.
While his campaign has cited its volume of small donations as a rationale for his decision to opt out of public financing for the general election, Obama has worked to build a network of big-dollar supporters from the time he began contemplating a run for the U.S. Senate.

Rubbing the Liberal Democrats' noses in the excrement of their policy to obstruct and delay the drilling of oil from all domestic known sources and the fact that the Liberal Democrat's marriage to the eco-Marxist Greens have embraced high gasoline prices as a market-driven mandate to conserve by reducing discretionary driving through passing Billions of wealth transfer from Americans to OPEC.

To quote WJC
"It's the economy, stupid." When it comes down to it, people vote their pocket books. Too bad we don't have a decent candidate, from which to choose.

Or, to be more precise, redefining the situation in such a way as to gain political advantage through the deceptive "spinning" of information.
Bottom line is, and always has been, that the oil producing nations have made an art form out of putting out just enough oil to keep us addicted, but not too much to cause a glut. If we had increased oil output in our own nation, another nation wouldn't have made the "diminishing returns" decision to upgrade or expand their facilities.
We'd be left with an even larger shortfall in oil supply at this time.
But hey, you can't blame Democrats for the cut-throat calculations of capitalists, can you?
Oh, right. I forgot who I was addressing...

Honor in the White House, electing someone with as much experience getting something accomplished as possible and getting somebody in there that will keep us strong militarily. Sadly, I'm of a strong belief that the latter part may well be necessary in the near future.

I do agree that most of the republicans and democrats are cut from the same cloth (or funded by the same corp's). On globalization they have a lot of similarities.
However, we do have some fundamental differences left between the 2 parties that is important to me and millions of others.
Democrats will work for: Social security and medicare. Health care for all Americans. The poor and middle class. Which means more tax money goes back to the working people.
Republicans will work for: The Defense industry (which always requires war). The Oil industry (which often requires war). The rich. Which means more tax money goes to the rich.

BJ: Dems: Which means more tax money goes back to the working people.
... ...the working class pays for the giveaway programs; always has and always will. Name one thing the Democrats do for the middle class of America?
...The fact is, the middle class needs their own party of representation, as the Democrats have not represented them for over 50 years. At least the Republicans create jobs by creating business.
BJ: Reps: The Defense industry (which always requires war). ... ...did we forget Kennedy and the Vietnam War? How about Roosevelt with World War II and also the Korean War? How about Woodrow Wilson and WW I, or maybe Lincoln and the Civil War? All four Presidents of the major wars in US history being none other than... Democrats.
...Now, please tell me again, how in the hell the Democrats can point their finger at the Republicans about or for war?
========== ==========
Napa: But hey, you can't blame Democrats for the cut-throat calculations of capitalists, can you?[/B] ...I can blame them both, as the Republicans controlled it all for 6 years and should have bypassed all of the liberal Democrat BS that has ceased any form of viable alternative energy since the early 1970's.
...Thanks to the capitalist, not in the US, but of the members of OPEC, the reported oil reserves have never gone down; which is BS. No new oil fields have been discovered in the OPEC countries for well over 30 years and yet, by the rules, where their exports are directly related to said reserves, none have lowered this figure and to the contrary, have actually increased... how can this be?
...The fact is, by the same lies, nobody knows exactly how much any OPEC country produces, as those records are not made available, or not accurate. What they do, is count the ships leaving for all parts of the world as a guess.
...Odd, is that 10 years ago, the Liberals said it would take 10 years to see any oil production from off shore drilling, or from Alaska. Odd, is that Liberals stopped any nuclear power facilities from being built since 1972, yet much of Europe to Russia is supplied by same. Odd, is that the Liberals bring nothing to the table but negativity, as they even filed lawsuits against wind generation facilities.
...Leave it up to the Liberals with no energy, massive illegal immigration, more giveaway programs... and we are past screwed. But wait, it now sucks here so badly, that even the Mexicans are self deporting themselves.
Napa: Or, to be more precise, redefining the situation in such a way as to gain political advantage through the deceptive "spinning" of information. ...Pelosi had better do something besides the same ol, same ol, as China is drilling off the coast of Cuba at this very moment. And at this very moment, OPEC reserves are a hell of a lot less than being reported.
========= =========
Nah: I'm sure everyone has one thing they believe to be the most important issue in this election. ...Obviously at the top of the pyramid of concerns is our economy, which is then influenced by energy, the value of the dollar, interest rates and employment which is directly related to illegal aliens, the deportation of American jobs, world trade, etc. and last, but certainly not least... our national debt, including the IOU's to FICA.
...Second, but with almost equal concern, is the war in the Middle East, the perpetual War on Terror, which grants the President far too much power... absent of checks and balances as was intended. Adding a huge toll to our national debt, this needs to be resolved immediately, or we will become as happened to Russia and further bankrupt by the ongoing cost of a perpetual war.
...Third, is to reign in the majority of "pork" being spent, as well as the giveaway programs, which have not remotely worked, while dramatically reducing the administrative expenses incurred for any and all government programs. ...In no way does this indicate cutting funds from the elderly by reductions in FICA, as they are the ones that have paid the $Trillions into the system which was stolen and has ran the government programs for everyone else.
...Fourth, is education of our children. The public school system has not remotely worked, as America has dumbed down ever since.
...Fifth, is to get the pharmaceutical industry out of the offices of the FDA and politics in general.
...Sixth, is to cease this BS of tax supported corn Ethanol production, which has done nothing but increase the cost of meat, milk products, etc. for everyone, while funding refineries with taxpayer dollars far beyond what Ethanol can be purchased from elsewhere; such as Brazil.
...Seventh, ...

THE ECONOMY.
But ALIVE is correct. No matter who wins, nothing will change. Government will get BIGGER, the debt WILL grow larger, and, UNLESS you're a big contributor to the party in power, the everyday people will continue to suffer.

We were involved in Vietnam long before Kennedy, but you are correct about the other wars.
That doesn't change the fact that the republicans look out for the defense industry and they have for a long time now.
SG. Neither party has clean hands on hardly anything. However, I do think the things I listed are about the only places where you can find any differences at all. I did a thread about this, but I'm not sure that it shed much light on the subject.
To be honest with you, I don't understand the voters anymore. Many of them vote on personality, looks, color or whatever. Many have no idea of what is happening at any given time. Until they start paying attention, we are not going to get the needs met of this country or its people.
I think we need a peaceful revolution, but I don't have much hopes for one.
