Biden Calls Paying Higher Taxes a Patriotic Act
Bend over...it's only just begun...
From AP moments ago.
WASHINGTON - Democratic vice presidential candidate Joe Biden said Thursday that paying more in taxes is the patriotic thing to do for wealthier Americans. The Republican campaign for president calls the tax increases their Democratic opponents propose "painful" instead of patriotic. Under the economic plan proposed by Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, people earning more than $250,000 a year would pay more in taxes while those earning less — the vast majority of American taxpayers — would receive a tax cut.
"We want to take money and put it back in the pocket of middle-class people," Biden said in an interview on ABC's "Good Morning America." My comment: Horsecrap...it's wealth redistribution to buy votes.
Noting that wealthier Americans would indeed pay more, Biden said: "It's time to be patriotic ... time to jump in, time to be part of the deal, time to help get America out of the rut."
Republican presidential candidate John McCain released a television ad Thursday charging that Obama would increase the size of the federal government amid an economic crisis. Contending that "a big government casts a big shadow on us all," the ad features the image of a shadow slowly covering a sleeping baby as it exaggerates the reach of the Obama tax proposal.
"Obama and his liberal congressional allies want a massive government, billions in spending increases, wasteful pork," the ad says. "And we would pay — painful income taxes, skyrocketing taxes on life savings, electricity and home heating oil. Can your family afford that?"
The McCain campaign said the ad is set to run nationally.

and just how do the American public think they will get this so called higher taxes from the rich as Biden said ... how just how much do they think they are going to get a tax break for when all they talk about is increasing social programs and adding all those new ones ....
remember 33 of last years billionaires fell off the Forbes list today due to the mortgage fiasco that we the tax payers will be paying for also ....
sorry but basic math tells you all this BS is not adding up ....

Actually, with the crash of the stock market, a lot of wealth has been redistributed and a lot of people who were very wealthy a few days ago, no longer are. For example, just take a look at the former CEO of AIG, Hank Greenberg. He alone lost over $2.4 billion this week alone. Add in all of those traders at Lehman Brothers who lost their multi-million dollar jobs this week and you can see that wealthy sure are getting theirs.
If this trend continues, the Dems should be ecstatic. Just look at all of that wealth being redistributed. It must be their dream come true.

Which should scare the hell out of everyone because the Dems are going to have to tax folks a little lower on the income level to make up for it. Otherwise, they can't push through their grandious social plans

As you know, the wealth is simply "poof"...gone. Of course it is, but hey, isn't that the point. After all, as long as they aren't so rich anymore, isn't that the important thing?

CNN reports there is a rumor that there is going to be a massive bailout by the Federal government.. if we thought we were in debt before, see how bad it becomes tomorrow.
They are saying that Congress is being briefed right now, and they are waiting for breaking news...

As far as I can tell, there is no law against giving the government extra money when paying taxes.
SO< PUT UP OR SHUT UP FUK HEAD !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Maybe we should start here to 'redistribute' the wealth:
Just what does the rank and file member of Congress make
Congress: Rank-and-File Members' Salary The current salary (2008) for rank-and-file members of the House and Senate is $169,300 per year.
Members are free to turn down pay increase and some choose to do so.
In a complex system of calculations, administered by the Office of Personnel Management, congressional pay rates also affect the salaries for federal judges and other senior government executives.
During the Constitutional Convention, Benjamin Franklin considered proposing that elected government officials not be paid for their service. Other Founding Fathers, however, decided otherwise.
From 1789 to 1815, members of Congress received only a per diem (daily payment) of $6.00 while in session. Members began receiving an annual salary in 1815, when they were paid $1,500 per year. Congress: Leadership Members' Salary (110th Congress) Leaders of the House and Senate are paid a higher salary than rank-and-file members.
Senate Leadership Majority Leader - $188,100 Minority Leader - $188,100 House Leadership Speaker of the House - $217,400 Majority Leader - $188,100 Minority Leader - $188,100
A cost-of-living-adjustment (COLA) increase takes effect annually unless Congress votes to not accept it.

My guess would be their retirement packages. But as I have no proof or links, I will state that it is just that, a guess.
They are making noises that they are going to be bailing out finacial institutions by increasing liquidity for them. The housing crisis has caused a banking crisis, and the commentators are talking a trillion dollar bailouts.. ..

Most are millionaires while they are in office.
In fact, if McCain/Palin are elected, Sara Palin may be first person in the White House who is not a millionaire in as far back as I can remember.

He alone lost over $2.4 billion this week alone. Think he'll have a clue now as to how someone feels who hears that his heating bill for this winter is going to be 15% more than last year and will now comprise 20% of his take-home pay of $2000 a month?
As vocal as I have been about the wealth inequality in this country, this was not the method I would have chosen for trying to provide greater opportunity for upward mobility for those in the lower percentiles. Only a jackass sees this crisis as good news for anybody. (And strangely enough, I subscribe to a couple of e-mail newsletter that ARE talking about where to find opportunities right now; like there is a silver lining to this. I'm as disgusted by them as I was by the people talking about the foreclosure market turning into a goldmine, never once having any compassion for the millions for whom it represents a catastrophe.)

They are saying that Congress is being briefed right now, Harry Dweeb and Nancy Pelutsky have already stated they won't do anything about it before this session of Congress ends.
Our Democratic do-nothing Congress once again shows their unwillingness to tackle anything that would help the American people.

Our Democratic do-nothing Congress once again shows their unwillingness to tackle anything that would help the American people. You know, a lot of you remind me of the people I used to work with at the state hospital. Institution had been there 135 years. I remember one rather ardent conservative who worked there as a security guard, and who was always screeching about how they needed to cut the size of government. Well, the state legislature voted to close the instituiton in a round of "cost cutting." And of course, the screeching started anew. "Wait, I didn't mean MY job." The most vocal proponents of free markets I've seen on here, constantly crying "Get government off our backs! Get Government out of our business!" are now all rushing to blame the government for not having imposed greater regulations a long time ago and depending on them to come bail THEM out. "Yeah, you bought a house and after you lost your job and the price of heating and insuring it went up 50% in 5 years, so you couldn't afford it anymore? Tough shit. Shouldn't have planned on "good times" for always. But I bought stock worth $1 million that is suddenly in the crapper? They'd better help ME. This is THEIR fault that MY investment is going to hell!"
