Congratulations.
You said this:
Watch FOX tonight, from 9-10, and tell us if you still feel the same way about Obama. I guess I should have read your mind to know you meant FOX News.. I did figure that out eventually so, that proves I must have a brain, contrary to what most here think about me..
Have you ever heard the phrase, 'you catch more with honey then you do with vinegar'
May I ask you one question, Blue?

Borrowed from Nah, off a different thread.
I read something tonight that sums up Obama with his own words and his non-committal approach to his beliefs and empty rhetoric campaign promises Mr. Obama is an introspective candidate, and perhaps the best analyst of his own political style. “I serve as a blank screen,” he wrote in “The Audacity of Hope,” “on which people of vastly different political stripes project their own views.” that's exactly how and why he is a Snake Oil Salesman .... he makes no real promises but leave it up to you to make your own and he will tell you so when you elect the empty suit just you wait and see ...... just a "BLANK SCREEN" ... all smoke n mirrors and no substance and he knows it and uses it to the nth degree

Have you ever believed in something, always thought it was the right thing to do?
Felt that anyone saying negative things about your beliefs was saying those negative things about you?
If you answer this question with no, then that shows the fundamental difference between us. I cannot change who I am, how I believe, how I feel about how I believe. I wouldn't if I could. Unfortunately, when the subject is politics, a person cannot have that personal investment in their beliefs, mostly because politicians don't know how to tell the truth, and have no clue what a promise should mean.
Perhaps I should stay out of politics.. I cannot separate my beliefs from my emotions. (That, and I am incredibly hard headed, and it takes way too long for me to actually get past my emotions and listen with my head and not my heart.)
That is one of my weaknesses.. works wonderful when you are in a mom mode caring for your kids, but fails miserably when it is applied to politics..
Have fun fighting over who should win..

Unfortunately there is no place for emotions and "feelings" in politics.
You HAVE to be informed.

I cannot change who I am, how I believe, how I feel about how I believe. I wouldn't if I could. So you would hold to your beliefs even if you knew they had been proven to be wrong?
Incredible!!!

Yes, I used to be a pot smoking liberal, but a strange thing happened, I ran out of pot, and money, then went and got a job.
Then I got my first check, and I asked where is all the money I earned, they said it was taken out for taxes, at that point I started my long journey on how government works, and who best represents me.

Lol, Capo...
I was reading another thread here.. and was laughing, until I realized that it was more true about what Dems stand for right now.
Unlike most people, I know, at least in my heart, when I am wrong.. and try to act accordingly. But you don't know anything about me, don't want to, your right, but then don't presume to know what I mean. How did that old joke go..
I am sure you think you know what I meant, but what you don't realize is that what I said is not what I meant.
You have to know a person, personally, to understand the way their mind (and heart) works.. not something you want, so please, don't chastise me, Capo.
It is nice to know that most people can separate themselves but:
I cannot separate my beliefs from my emotions. and that is the part I won't change.
edited to add: Does it matter how we got here? CNN just had a flash about a man who left a suicide note about his financial situation.. inside they found him, and his family who he had killed before committing suicide..

I know, off topic, but you should hear Fox-News as an interview is going on, someone is doing donuts in the background. You can hear the tires squealing as Colmes is trying to keep a straight face.....
they cut away for a commercial, probably went out and roughed up the prankster, all is quiet in the fort again....

well i'm sure a few have never heard of this little case where Citibank was sued because they were suppose to have been using redlining practices (denying poor people loans because of their ethnic heritage for mortage loans )... something really doesn't add up especially this was part of the process that gave lenders the right to lower qualification on mortages to poor people ......
Case Name Buycks-Roberson v. Citibank Fed. Sav. Bank Fair Housing/Lending/Insurance Docket / Court 94 C 4094 ( N.D. Ill. ) FH-IL-0011 State/Territory Illinois
Case Summary Plaintiffs filed their class action lawsuit on July 6, 1994, alleging that Citibank had engaged in redlining practices in the Chicago metropolitan area in violation of the Equal Credit Opportunity Act (ECOA), 15 U.S.C. 1691; the Fair Housing Act, 42 U.S.C. 3601-3619; the Thirteenth Amendment to the U.S. Constitution; and 42 U.S.C. 1981, 1982. Plaintiffs alleged that the Defendant-bank rejected loan applications of minority applicants while approving loan applications filed by white applicants with similar financial characteristics and credit histories. Plaintiffs sought injunctive relief, actual damages, and punitive damages.
U.S. District Court Judge Ruben Castillo certified the Plaintiffs’ suit as a class action on June 30, 1995. Buycks-Roberson v. Citibank Fed. Sav. Bank, 162 F.R.D. 322 (N.D. Ill. 1995). Also on June 30, Judge Castillo granted Plaintiffs’ motion to compel discovery of a sample of Defendant-bank’s loan application files. Buycks-Roberson v. Citibank Fed. Sav. Bank, 162 F.R.D. 338 (N.D. Ill. 1995).
The parties voluntarily dismissed the case on May 12, 1998, pursuant to a settlement agreement. Plaintiff’s Lawyers Alexis, Hilary I. (Illinois) FH-IL-0011-7500 | FH-IL-0011-7501 | FH-IL-0011-9000 Childers, Michael Allen (Illinois) FH-IL-0011-7500 | FH-IL-0011-7501 | FH-IL-0011-9000 Clayton, Fay (Illinois) FH-IL-0011-7500 | FH-IL-0011-7501 | FH-IL-0011-9000 Cummings, Jeffrey Irvine (Illinois) FH-IL-0011-7500 | FH-IL-0011-7501 | FH-IL-0011-9000 Love, Sara Norris (Virginia) FH-IL-0011-9000 Miner, Judson Hirsch (Illinois) FH-IL-0011-7500 | FH-IL-0011-9000 Obama, Barack H. it's amazing what pops up when you are looking for something else .....

Plaintiffs alleged that the Defendant-bank rejected loan applications of minority applicants while approving loan applications filed by white applicants with similar financial characteristics and credit histories. My guess would be that white people who could not afford the houses were being approved and minorities who could not afford the houses were not? Sounds fair to me!
Ah.. ok sorry, missed that Obama was one who was involved in the class action suit.. my bad..

I don't see the importance of that case. When this crisis has absolutely nothing to do with it.

I know why we are having this crisis. To many Republicans running around to long in power. I know some will disagree. After 60 some odd years of Democrats running the show that is a purely bogus statement. But then you certainly would not know much about history or how we managed to get here now. Ever heard of Jimmy Carter?

It is not the mistakes we make, it is what we learn from them, and how we move forward. For life is not a destination, it is a journey.
And Katie, I think what you perceive what a conservative/republican is ........ is what others have made you believe.
Feelings and emotions cause people to believe in symbolism over substance.
Like the time liberals were mad because a grocery store was taking back their shopping carts, for the customers had no carts to collect the groceries they were purchasing. So, they sent the police to round up their property that the homeless were stealing to carry around their possessions. So, the liberals started a drive to collect money to buy them grocery carts..... I'm sure it made a lot of people " feel " like they were helping out the homeless, but in your heart of hearts, is this the best thing to give them? They were enabling them to continue a destructive pattern. Would the pride of a job well done, and the chance to earn the money themselves be better suited?
Or the old adage, give a man a fish and feed him for a day, teach a man to fish, and feed him for a life time..
Think about it.
