Is it just me or did anyone else hear her say McClone, twice as a matter of fact? I couldn't help laughing my head off.
By the way, Biden demonstrated enormous experience required to be president and commander and chief, he proved that he's well-informed, got the FACTS, substantive and most importantly gentlemanly and presidential.
Gov. Palin showed her inexperience especially when it comes to foreign policy( that's when she nervously changed McCain's name). The fact of the matter is she's one heck of a debater. I think she should learn to answer questions the way they're being asked. In a nutshell, I thought she did ok.
The bottom line is Gov. Palin clearly proved to the american public that she's not ready to be Vice president, let alone president and commander and chief.

I'm wondering how Gov. Palin would like to see McCain cloned
The fact that she said during the debate that she couldn't answer some of the questions with specifics as asked or she doesn't know how things work cos she's only been around for five weeks, that made me conclude that she's not ready. I don't want my VP to not have the least confidence and knowledge about how the vice presidency, not to talk of the oval office, works.

You are right of course.
I'm much more comfortable having a lying, racist, manipulative gangsta with impressive 143 days in Senate for president. We all secretly want that, but are just afraid to say it out loud.

hey no one watched the debate or what? every poll I've visited says that Biden won the debate. He did what was expected of him. Palin was well-prepared for the debate. I'd say, she did much better than in her previous interviews

The fact that she said during the debate that she couldn't answer some of the questions with specifics as asked or she doesn't know how things work cos she's only been around for five weeks, that made me conclude that she's not ready. Not ready? She sparred for an hour and a half with a gaffe machine who has been in Washington for 35 years and easily held her ground, even giving him a few good hits while suffering nothing of any consequence herself.
Him? 35 years in Washington and he didn't have one frickin' origional thing to say. Just recite numbers and memorized so called facts.
And he couldn't rip her apart. Want to know why?
Two reasons - She's not full of shit, actually changed things for the better and, speaks with realistic conviction that requires no details until the plans are implemented.
Two - she learns fast. At this rate, in four weeks she'll know more than he does for crying out loud while bringing executive experience that is proven successful. Him, he'll still be a stagnant 35 year paper pushing veteran spinning his bald tires in Washington.

Bottom line Wills is the debate was just entertainment. Anyone who was undecided before is probably still not convinced. Palin had a couple of points, Biden got his scores in.
Chiding Biden about "looking to the past, when they're all about change" but Biden pointing out that there is precious little McClone will change hurt her/them. Given that six months ago, over 75% of the people in this country said we were on the wrong track, I think you'd be hard pressed to find any at all who would say we're on the right track today. The more McCain looks like he's going to stay the course.. .ANY course... the bigger he's going to lose. All the real-time trackers showed a strong negative response to her saying a timeline for pulling out of Iraq was a "white flag of surrender." There is no question but that the economy is currently the #1 issue, but Iraq is #2, and there is still a significant portion of the population for whom it's #1, and Biden pointing out that we're spending billions of dollars over there and the Iraqi government is building a suplus while we're drowning in red ink resonates and links the two issues. Bad news for McCain. Obama will probably be up by another point or two in the polls tomorrow.

I'm much more comfortable having a lying, racist, manipulative gangsta with impressive 143 days in Senate for president. I second that. we all know she's a new comer but saying that out loud to the public herself did not only show her lack of readiness to be president and commander and chief, it also showed vulnerability, lack of confidence and of course, again, lack of knowledge about the issues at stake. Five weeks is more than enough to be able to learn and get informed about how things work lol. That said, learning on the job and getting informed about issues affecting the country and others don't qualify you to be VP. You got to be ready on day one, if God forbid anything were to happen to the prez, to step up to the plate and lead the country.
The fact that McCain's medical record and his age of course are on the minds of some voters, he should've had the right judgement by picking someone who's at least ready to be VP. This raises a lot questions about McCain's judgement on most issues. His judgement is not only risky but dangerously wrong for america.
Secretary Rice, I think, would've been a much much better pick.

Is this Leftglish for "we got our collective asses kicked"? No, it means just what it said. I don't believe Palin accomplshed her "assignment" of convincing anyone who wasn't already convinced to vote for McCain. I don't think Biden convinced many people to vote FOR Senator Obtama, as much as he made some small gains in perhaps reinforcing people's decision to vote against McCain.

Secretary Rice, I think, would've been a much much better pick. Condi Rice does not want to be a politician. She is happy being a diplomat and, from what I have heard her say, will be more than happy to be done with Washington politics when Bush's term is up. The point is irrelevant.

NO No, it means just what it said. I liked the part where Biden talked about some guy he met at a gas station who told him what it was like.
It made it all apparent that he hasn't a fu*king clue compared to Palin who KNOWS what it's like.
Biden filling up the nome mobile at the local Seven Eleven with his body guards.
Palin knows what it's like, is in touch with real people and, in five weeks has learned enough to stand toe to toe with a lightweight semi drunk senile 35 year veteran. Imagine what she can do in another month.
To tell the truth, her only problem is McCain. Obama is a lightweight with little substance and McCain's problem is that he refuses to make any substantial distancing from Bush in these essential times. They should have put her on the top of the ticket.
Oh, one other point was when Biden said that he would be there to hold Jrs hand. OMG that was great!!!!!!!!!!!!
Like he doesn't even want his monkey making his own decisions. Biden with his finger on the button! YIKES!!!!!!

The point is irrelevant. not, if she was at least vetted
Nightow, it think it's fair enough to say that Biden, as infamously known for his gaffes and fierceness, handled himself gentlemanly. It would've been risky and dangerous, I think, if Biden were really himself to try to go after her, go on the attack by knocking her out..you know, a man debating a woman. remember what happened when Hillary ran for the senate? If that did happen, the public esp. women would've perceived and digested it differently. I think what I'm trying to babble hear is underscore your point that yeah it was entertaining. The tone of the debate would've been different if bidden debated another man.
By the way, I'm making my decisions based on the issues that the top of each ticket stands for. They're the ones to run the country. The VP debate only solidifies my decision though.

Biden had a difficult decision to make.. should he blow her (palin ) out of the water.. He could have numerous times when she resorted to the aw shucks I am just one of the every day people here trying to convince you that McCain is in your corner. he does want to lower your taxes..( his record proves otherwise..)
( how many times did Biden attack McCain vs how many times did he attack Palin??)
he would have routed the debate..won it hands down.. but lost points in the war..
so he did the smart thing and stuck to the boring same ole same ole facts...
the result is that in the undecided camp...only the people who identified with her were swayed to actually vote for her..as she became one of the little people.....ie..she's one of us...so we will vote for her...
whereas the undecided voters who want a leader who can go head to head with the other world leaders ...all decided on Biden...
the ones who have no clue what they want ...are still undecided...
imho..she would make a great First Lady..but a lousy President...

Might have. If he hada tried something silly he would probably found himself kicked in the nuts and decked justifiably.
Quite simply, Palin held back on what she should have said as her closing point 'Look you washed up piece of shit drunk, 35 stinking years, and all you did was make a fool out of yourself and now you're running on the bottom of a ticket with a guy with less real life executive experience as I have.'
Then, turn to camera and say 'I cut corruption, cut out big oil, got taxes reduced for the people of Alaska and, I'm actually going to do the same for you, not play games like this guy did for 35 bloody years.'
Then Gaffe machine Joe could babble on with stats and how he headed groups to do this and that that nobody of course can remember as it wasn't meaningful even at the time. Even have Stutterin' Barrry come out tomorrow to throw in a few more sound bite stutters for the McCain ads.
