A quick read. Humorous and not much of any smoking barrel,Some polls are suggesting that after gaining an initial bump, McCain's campaign is being hobbled by Sarah Palin's vice-presidential candidacy. The voters who are deserting her fastest, some of whom are even calling on her to withdraw, are mostly women. Ah, women, the consistently, tragically underestimated constituency. What the Democrats learned during the primaries and the Republicans might now be finding out the hard way, I learned at my very academic, well-regarded all-girls high school: that is never to discount the ability of women to open a robust, committed, well-thought-out vat of hatred for another girl. Women are weapons-grade haters.  Hillary Clinton knows it. Palin knows it too. When women get their hate on, they don't just dislike, or find disfavor with, or sort of not really appreciate. They loathe - deeply, richly, sustainingly. I do not say this to disparage my gender; women also love in more or less the same way. When men disagree, the steps to resolution are reasonably clear and unsophisticated. Acts of physical violence are visited upon one another's person or property, and the whole thing blows over. Women? Nu-unh. We savor the discord. We draw it out. We share our contempt with our friends, like a useful stock tip, or really good salsa. And then we all go hate together: a mutually encouraging group activity for when the book group gets quiet . |

Count the threads dissing Obama and Biden 
I think many women, including me, would be pleased to see a female in the 2nd, or 1st role. So for her scores to be down among women shows people are paying attention.

Hate would be putting it really much too strongly for me and most of my coworkers. We're seriously underwhelmed, but more by the message than the messenger. She's certainly not going to move any of us to vote republican - I think we're way beyond the point of voting based on the gender of the candidate.

Palin’s answer was essentially a non-answer: “I don’t want to argue about the causes,” she said with an edge. “We have got to clean up this planet.”
Biden parried by saying, “If you don’t understand what causes something, it is almost impossible to come up with a solution.”

What is more notably pathetic, is how the republicans where falling all over themselves from day one, to support a woman for vice president that they knew very little about, other than she is a evangelical woman, is pretty, has a special needs child, and is governor of Alaska.
Now that it is becoming abundantly clear for those paying attention that she has very little grasp of the pending political issues of the day, for those that found themselves sold on her from the beginning, they have little recourse but to attack Obama and Biden, and try to reroute the conversation away from Sarah Palin’s ineptitude.

Now you are putting words into our mouths.
Whether it be women or men voters, there is big difference between hate, and would not vote for.
I wish Sarah the best of luck in her career as one fellow human being to another, but I would not vote for, or feel she is qualified to be this country's vice president.

“The moment in this debate when she knew how well she was doing, and was actually winning the debate came at 9:55 eastern daylight time and she said to Gwen Ifill the moderator, “can we talk about Pakistan, or rather can we talk about Afghanistan for a minute?”. In other words she wanted to go back to one of these foreign policy issues. She knew that she passed the test that she could handle Joe Biden, and it was all about her as Mort said, and Bill said. This was not a debate where Joe Biden had to do much of anything, it was entirely a test of Sarah Palin, and she passed it.”

3. Challenges
Of the factors rated as important for women managers career development, two
represent particular challenges for women. The first is to develop a leadership style
that is accepted by both men and women. As many female managers stressed,
women have to be careful not to come across as too aggressive that provokes
negative reactions from men as well as women. On the other hand, it is necessary for women managers to be perceived as assertive and not too nice, so that they will be taken seriously as leaders. Or, as another woman put it, There’s a very narrow, narrow path that women can walk to be acceptable, whereas there s a very wide one for men."
A second challenge for women is to overcome gender stereotypes and ask for
the things they deserve. The following quote nicely illustrates what many women
experienced: I never asked to be promoted. I just expected that they would see that I was a great salesperson and that they would promote me. And I was constantly frustrated. One year I finally said, my expectation is that in the next three months I will be promoted to the next level. And then, a month later I was promoted to the next level . Link
So what keeps women from getting ahead? Catalyst’s women respondents reported the following top five barriers to advancement:
Lack of significant general management or line experience (47%)
Exclusion from informal networks (41%)
Stereotyping and preconceptions of women’s roles and abilities (33%)
Failure of senior leadership to assume accountability for women’s advancement (29%)
Commitment to personal/family responsibilities (26%) Link
