The only vote that matters is the count on November 4th. No matter who wins, we're down the sh*tter anyway.

Apparently, with the shutting down of its Michigan campaign, the McCain camp has stated it will spend more money in Wisconsin, Pennsylvania, Maine and Nebraska.

I'm not sure I buy this logic. Both Wisconsin and Pennsylvania have Obama with solid leads. Maine and Nebraska are in the picture, I guess, because they apportion their Electoral College votes. In Maine, where Bush couldn't even win in the more conservative 2nd district in 2000 and 2004, what makes McCain think he'll peel off an Electoral College vote from that state.

Nebraska is very interesting. Both Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama did a lot of organizing in that state ahead of its primary and their tallies combined were larger than the number of votes that went to Bush in 2004. Perhaps, McCain is afraid of losing votes out of Nebraska.

Apparently, no one in the McCain campaign bothered to tell Sarah Palin that they were shutting down operations.

Katt, McCain can't afford (and I mean that in the monetary sense) to continue to wage a 50-state war. There are 5 states currently considered battleground states, and although Michigan was once considered a battleground state, it is no longer.

McCain must win all 5, if he has any hope of winning the White House. They are Colorado, Florida, Ohio, Virginia and North Carolina. Obama has a clear lead in Virginia and is trending upward in each of the other four states. In those states like Ohio, where McCain leads, his lead is 1%.

Merci, it is nearly an impossible task. I expect that the McCain camp will go very negative between now and election day. And if they do, that is a desperate act.

Adding:

Apparently, there is a buzz in Pennsylvania that McCain will be pulling out of that state as well. If this proves to be true, McCain's September fundraising numbers must have been very tepid.

Today's Gallup poll give Obama 353 and McCant-Bush Jr. 185 of the E.V.
50% to 42%.
I agree the repubes are even gonna get nastier. Like Palin trying to tie obama in with terrorist. Sorry but that song and dance been over played. Desperation wreaks republican.

I guess it's never over til the fat lady sings...I know that I'm still on the fence on this election. Now I'm not claiming to know alot about the political scene, but surely more voters such as me could swing it one or the other?

Depends on where you live Merch...California's solid blue, just as Arizona's solid red. I'll vote anyway, but it's hardly likely that my vote would make a difference.

Now if we lived in Ohio or New Mexico or Pennsylvania or one of the other 'battleground' states, that would be a whole 'nuther thing.

There are still 2 more presidential debates to go. We have not heard the last of either candidate... with every debate, undecided voters have the opportunity to see Obama for what he really is...inexperienced, deceitful, and not up to the job.

Unfortunately most of us are aware that McCain is about as much of a maverick as he is an economist. His economic advisor was Phil Gramm, and dollars to donuts he'd be our next Secretary of the Treasury if we have yet another republican administration to try to survive. If you think we're in a mess now, put him in charge and see what we end up with....

First it was "we don't want the smoking gun to be a mushroom cloud," then it was "give us 700 billion dollars or we'll have a depression." Guess what, we gave them the money and our grandchildren will STILL be trying to catch up. McCain's different from Bush on anything much except military strategy, which he can do as effectivly from the senate as the White House?

Well, I'll tell ya...fool me once, shame on you, fool me twice, shame on me - we won't get fooled again!

California's solid blue, just as Arizona's solid red.

I wished I lived in a solid colored state - red or blue (ie CA or AZ.)

WI being a battle ground state (albeit with not as many electoral votes as OH, MI, et al,) we are getting the political ads shoved up every orafice at the rate of about 1 every 3-5 minutes.

In 2000, I was in Boston the week before the Bush/Gore election - (ya'll remember, Florida, hanging chats etc.) Flew out on a Wed., had a 6:00 p.m. return flight on Sunday. Noonish, by brother in law & I are watching football, when he pointed out that I hadn't seen once political add since I've been there. Kennedy country - Dems don't spend their money because they don't need to. Reps don't spend money there because they know it would be a waste.

OHHH, political nirvana!

I feel for ya Parrothead, but our House race is hot enough that we're still getting ads here. Shadegg even voted against the bailout (the first time, he caved on the second round) but he still does't have a sure thing going.

You're right though, we don't get many presidential ads...for which I'm heartily grateful!

And this is why I don't watch tv or listen to anything but a locally owned commercial free radio station.
