Anyone want to make a guess where this will end? Does this seem to indicate the fall is almost over, or is the worst yet to come? Your thoughts?

get use to it .....

people that haven't a clue seem to think this would get fixed with the bailout or in a day or month ..... they haven't a clue what this entails or how deep it runs or how long this has been in the makings ......

guess what there is no magic stop numbers ..... look around at the global economy ... do some serious reseach .... this is not just about US economy but the rest of the world is involved as well .....

PS this did NOT just start with Bush nor will it end with Bush ..... get real

Just wait till they anounce that all of your dollars are now worth .50 cents.

Or better yet, to just trash them because they are worthless.

Think I heard today ( wasn't listening really close ) that of the $700B, only about $50B of it will actually be put into use per month .... not over by a long shot.

true lj ... heck before this even started the $ was only worth about 75-78 cents then .. so it really doesn't have far to fall to be worth only 50 cents on a $

Where in my opening here did I blame anyone? I was asking if people think that we are approaching the bottom of the drop, and that things might start the long turn around to go (slowly) back up?

Katie your personal dislike of me is showing once again .....

if you spent as much time on learning the facts as you did trying to belittle anyone with knowledge that you dislike you might improve your post with some knowledge .....

besides did i call your name in my post or did you just feel guilty

Here is my prediction. It will go down and within a year it will recover.

It always does.

It is a historical fact.

What is an historical fact? That on an annualized basis the Dow always rises? Guess again.

No NO - that whenever there is a LARGE plunge - the market recovers within a year to 16 months.

Look it up.

Here NO - to prevent you from further slobbering here is a link with an historical view of the DJI since 1930.

What goes down must come up? Hopefully. Unless ya know its broken.

Anyone want to make a guess where this will end?
I do,
When the Korean Won is worth $20.
When foreign interest owns 68% of America ( not 69 cause then both parties are having fun) in credit and debt pay back. Not just the current suggested 15%
The market for cardboard boxes dwarfs oil. Its the new housing materiel.
When the government owns 80% of all property in the USA, . Next step we all get chip implants.

It ain't just us. For weeks and months, ( England) the same thing has been happening across the world. Our global "business" partners economic system is cracking do to the TRICKLE DOWN effect.
Crazy that China is getting pissed and demanded the repayment of investments linked to failed US bank Lehman Brothers. Over Hundreds of HK investors protest Lehman-bond mis-selling. I mean the nerve even!!

When the largest and greatest military force gets its ass handed to them, cause plane wont fly without fuel, guns dont kill with out ammo and no ones gonna credit us any.

Jobs now offer the retirement package of your own recycled plastic raft, and ship you out to sea. Plastic cause there's no more ice burgs or wood to make rafts.

When Canada and Mexico have built their own boarder fences.

Anyone who will argue the cyclical nature of the market is uninformed at best.

You only lose when you sell. Now is the time to buy......everything is on sale. The market closing price is just a snapshot, a picture in time of what something is selling for at this very moment. Nothing more.

So the trick is to just keep buying and you'll just get richer and richer, is that it?

The trick is to buy at the right time...If you're looking to hold for awhile...say 5 years or longer...now is the time to buy. It will come back, but within a year to 16 months with this mutipronged, far reaching financial mess, and with a dem president with a filibusterproof dem congress, is optimistic at best...

more than you know...NO...

that is what got the stock market in the fix it is in....

I predict it will bottom out when the actual value of a company's stock again has some reality to the actual worth of the company itself..

and after that happens.. it will flatten out.. and stock dividens will be what people are looking at when they actually buy...

I am not predicting doom or gloom... ..just that there will not be a recovery to current levels and standards.....

..the sad thing..imho is that there will be only a few large mega corporations (calling the shots for all) .. in the key fields ...and two classes of people...the super rich..and.. everyone else....

GH - the super rich as you call them just lost more money than anyone you will ever know. WTF are you talking about? Many of these CEO's had their pay tied to stock price.

Furthermore the stock price of a company is equal to what someone will pay. If not google would be selling for $50 or less.

How many of you have questioned how quickly this entire situation "seemed" to happen? It didn't happen 2 weeks ago. There was nothing sudden about any of this. The only thing that was sudden was the way Bush made it into a sudden crisis. It has been coming on for several years.

How many of you believe our government did not know what was happening long before the "crisis"?

The reason we have a credit crisis is because the investors don't know of a safe place to put their money.

The reason we are having a stock market crash is because of the fear that has been generated.

Folks, we have to face facts here. Alan Greenspan AND our government manipulated the housing bubble. They KNEW what the mortgage brokers were doing. They KNEW that people were going to eventually lose their homes. They KNEW there was going be all these bad debts. They KNEW what the end had to be.

They not only KNOW why this happened. They HELPED this to happen.

I believe the question we should be asking is WHY our government wanted it to happen.

Were they stupid or smarter than we have comprehended yet? I think it is us that are the stupid ones and that they have done what they want to do and we are going to pay for it.
