Only the poorest of poor and highest of middle cclass stand to gain anything... and since your employer is maybe going to pack up and move overseas, it would benefit you to learn another language NOW. So you can move with your employer overseas because most of them are already looking.
I am upper middle, and will be eagerly looking for my check from Obama from all you walmart workers as I hear now your 3.55 cents over minimum wage and your no longer classified as the working poor.
Now that's a logical way to bring a country together, leave it to the liberals to come up with these great ideas.

Obama will fix it!
Obama promises to retain jobs in US
Press Trust of India Thursday, September 04, 2008 11:32 AM (Washington)
US Presidential hopeful Barack Obama once again touched on the ticklish issue of outsourcing and while vowing to end tax breaks to companies that ship works overseas conceded that all lost jobs could not be redeemed.
Promising to retain as well as create more jobs for the Americans, the Democratic nominee said while all lost jobs cannot be redeemed, further movement can be halted by giving incentives to companies investing in the country.
"Not all jobs that have left are going to come back. We can stop some of them that are already leaving by stopping to give tax breaks to companies that are shipping jobs overseas and saving those tax breaks for investing in plants and equipment right here in the US," Obama said at a campaign stop in Ohio.
Maintaining that the issues of energy are going to be the "centrepiece of re-building manufacturing in the US", Obama said having energy as one of its main economic planks will ensure creation of millions of jobs as there are growing energy needs in emerging economies like India and China.
Terming the high growth in India and China as a "huge opportunity" for America's energy sector, Obama said the US should choose to invest in clean alternative technologies to milk this opportunity.
"We know that energy is going to be driving the economy in the future. Think about it. China, India, they are all growing, and they are all deciding we would not mind having a car, too. So as they drive we're already seeing demand outstrip supply in terms of oil," Obama said. http://www.ndtv.com/convergence/ndtv/uspolls2008/Election_Story.aspx?ID=NEWEN20080064039&
Obama proposes $210 billion for new jobs Ten year plan focuses on construction, environmental employment updated 11:35 a.m. PT, Wed., Feb. 13, 2008
WASHINGTON - Democrat Barack Obama said Wednesday that as president he would spend $210 billion to create jobs in construction and environmental industries, as he tried to win over economically struggling voters.
Obama's investment would be over 10 years as part of two programs. The larger is $150 billion to create 5 million so-called "green collar" jobs to develop more environmentally friendly energy sources.
Sixty billion would go to a National Infrastructure Reinvestment Bank to rebuild highways, bridges, airports and other public projects. Obama estimated that could generate nearly 2 million jobs, many of them in the construction industry that's been hit by the housing crisis.
"This agenda is paid for," Obama said as the Republican National Committee promoted an "Obama Spend-O-Meter" online to track his proposals and portray him as a tax-and-spend liberal. Obama explained that the money for his spending proposals will come from ending the Iraq war, cutting tax breaks for corporations, taxing carbon pollution and raising taxes on high income earners.
Atypical stump speech: Obama, who has faced criticism that he doesn't have enough policy specifics, asked autoworkers at the General Motors plant in Janesville, Wis., to "bear with me" as his began a policy speech that he said would be unlike his typical rousing addresses to rallies. He read from a TelePrompTer in a cavernous training room, flanked by sparkling new vehicles and a large American flag.
"Today I want to take it down a notch," Obama said. "This is going to be a speech that's a little more detailed. It's going to be a little bit longer, not as many applause lines."
Obama pointedly did not include one of his biggest applause lines, that he would require vehicle manufacturers to raise fuel economy standards. Obama often points out that he delivered that message straight to the automakers during a speech last year in Detroit.
But he didn't mention it on the plant visit that came a day after GM reported the largest annual loss ever for an American automaker - $38.7 billion in 2007.
"I know that General Motors received some bad news yesterday," Obama said. "I also know how much progress you've made, how many hybrids and fuel-efficient vehicles you're churning out. And I believe that if our government is there to support you, and give you the assistance you need to retool and make this transition, that this plant will be here for another hundred years." http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/23148959/

Well thanks for that info.........since I apparently I need to be "edumacated". Perhaps if you have dependent children and are a single parent. Otherwise, a single person working for very little does not get all of the taxes they pay in back! Geez!

Angel: Obama will fix it! ...He is not going to do anything, but execute, or not (such as border control), the laws that Congress creates.
...What he knows about economics and energy policies, could be put in a thimble with room left over... or he does know and is in the corner of those that put him into office.
...This rhetorical party BS of alternative energy was started with Carter, some 30 years ago and see how far it has gotten. As well, this allowance of outsourcing factories and jobs overseas has continued under bi-partisan approval, yet each candidate promises to stop it... until they see how much was donated to their campaign fund.
...As yourself Angel, I will believe it... when I see it become an actual reality.

And only the upper middle class and the rich should gain??? No everyone should gain. You just do it by working and saving instead of the government taking and redistributing. Do you get that? Do any of you get that? What the heck happened to the work ethic of most people? Most of the county now is a bunch of whiners and people looking for a hand out not a hand up.

And I agree with Seal.
So many people think the world owes them a living while they sit around and whine about it.

A single person working for the minimum wage will earn approximately $12k in a year. By taking the standard deduction on the form 1040EZ, they will have about $3250 in TAXABLE INCOME, on which they will pay approximately $330. Unfortunately, they will also pay approximately $1200 in Social Security and Medicare taxes yearly. That doesn't count the "taxes" they pay in sales tax, utility sales taxes, and a slew of other "use" taxes that hit probably every dollar they earn, because when you're only taking home $900 per month, you're not socking away a hell of a lot in tax deferred 401Ks. But you ARE paying taxes.
It's a sad commentary on the economic state of the nation that as many as 50% of the people in this country don't pay taxes because they don't earn enough money to pay taxes. It disgusts me that the neocons then claim that as many as 40 million "working poor" in this country are just too damned lazy to better themselves and are just "looking for a handout." What they are looking for is a job that respects them enough to pay a fair day's wage in return for a fair day's labor. Most of them would be quite happy with that.

Its going to cause companies to move overseas. Kiss your job goodbye. You mean there are some companies left that haven't ALREADY moved overseas?
In case you haven't noticed we have been losing companies and jobs for years now.
Millions have ALREADY kissed their paychecks goodbye and the ones that haven't are working for less money and/or benefits.
Obviously the republicans made the situation much worse, so it seems like you would be happy to see a change.

...As yourself Angel, I will believe it... when I see it become an actual reality. Especially when I read all these Advisors, Directors and Secretary occupations. Did they already pass the labor board? And also wondering if the entry levels start at minimum wage.
