Looks like European leaders are not very impressed with Messiah Barry. As a matter of fact they are openly unimpressed. Don't they understand that he is the fookin MESSIAH?
Berlusconi - "Handsome, Young and suntanned."
Sarkosy - "utterly immature - empty of all content"
Sarkozy has made his criticisms only in closed forums in France. But according to a senior Israeli government source, the reports reaching Israel indicate that Sarkozy views the Democratic candidate's stance on Iran as "utterly immature" and comprised of "formulations empty of all content."
No apology for Obama "suntan" remark: Berlusconi
BRUSSELS (Reuters) – Italian Prime Minister Silvio Berlusconi, under fire at home for describing U.S. President-elect Barack Obama as "suntanned," said on Friday he saw no need to apologize.
At a news conference, Berlusconi was brusque with an American journalist who suggested he should say sorry for the remark on Thursday. Visiting Moscow, he described the man elected to be the first black U.S. president as "handsome, young and also suntanned."
His center-left opponents called the comment racist; Berlusconi responded by saying they were "imbeciles without any sense of humor."
At Friday's news conference after a European Union summit, the reporter asked: "Prime Minister, do you realize that your comment on Obama is offensive to the United States? Why don't you apologize?"
Berlusconi responded: "Give me a break! You have just put yourself on that list of people (imbeciles) I mentioned yesterday!"
When the reporter pressed for an answer on why Berlusconi did not deem it necessary to apologize, the prime minister, clearly irritated, said: "Why (should I)? You should apologize to Italy!" He then walked out of the room.
Berlusconi's latest gaffe was on the front pages of most Italian newspapers on Friday.
"Berlusconi never fails to live up to our worst expectations," said an editorial in the Rome daily La Repubblica.
Berlusconi, who prides himself on being a friend of outgoing U.S. President George W. Bush, is famed in diplomatic circles for making sometimes inappropriate quips.

Not the correct information
Europe leaders hail Obama victory German Chancellor Angela Merkel and French President Nicolas Sarkozy. Mr Sarkozy says Mr Obama's victory "has raised enormous hope" in Europe
European leaders have hailed the triumph of Democrat Barack Obama in the US presidential election. French President Nicolas Sarkozy said the victory was "brilliant", while UK Prime Minister Gordon Brown hailed Mr Obama's "vision for the future". German Chancellor Angela Merkel said the result was "historic", while the European Commission president called for "a new deal for a new world". Moscow said it was expecting a "fresh approach" in US relations with Russia. "At a time when we must face huge challenges together, your election has raised enormous hope in France, in Europe and beyond," Mr Sarkozy said.

"France and Europe... will find a new energy to work with America to preserve peace and world prosperity," the French leader acted.
In Moscow, Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Grigory Karasin said "everyone has the right to expect a fresh approach from the United States to all the most important problems, including... relations with Russia". http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/7710169.stm

Vinny, please try to understand. It's not only the fringers who voted for Obama. It's a large portion of the moderate majority. They held their noses and voted for Obama, hoping against hope that he might do something, ANYTHING, to reverse the follies of the neo-con abomination.
Spin it any way you like, but this is less about Obama and more about a backlash against the neo-cons. If a halfway decent candidate had been put forth by the Democrats, McCain would have been lucky to get half the electoral votes he received.
And please refrain from swearing. Even masked, it's still a violation of the spirit of the terms of service. Mature adults can generally express their opinion without the need to resort to profanity--masked in a juvenile attempt to get around the ban or not.

A similar message came from French President Nicolas Sarkozy: “With the world in turmoil and doubt, the American people, faithful to the values that have always defined America’s identity, have expressed with force their faith in progress and the future.” Sarkozy, who also holds the rotating European Union presidency, said the election had “raised enormous hope in France, in Europe and beyond.” And to Obama, he said, “By choosing you, the American people have chosen change, openness and optimism.” European leaders applaud Barack Obama's victory in US election http://www.theaustralian.news.com.au/story/0,25197,24606671-12377,00.html
Europe's ties with US President George W. Bush were regularly strained, and tensions among EU countries over the Iraq war were fuelled by his perceived preferrence for unilateral decision-making outside the United Nations.
Mr Kouchner said that people around the world would "welcome the election of a man committed to dialogue between peoples and communities, and cooperation among nations".

blondino - Of course they give boilerplate official statements.
But is "handsome, young and suntanned" is the best that Berlusconi can do it is hardly respect.
Why would they respect him?
What has he ever accomplished?
European leaders have to pay their dues to get elected and each are seasoned politicians.
Barry is a rookie and they know it.

Sarkosy, Berlusconi and Merkle are very close with Bush. That is a fact.
Why don't you try to post on topic. Did you read the topic?

Berlesconis gaffes are famous .. says more about him being a bit of an idiot than anything else
"Berlusconi cannot control himself in the best of circumstances," said Dario Franceschini of Italy's centre-left opposition Democratic Party.
"He forgets that his words hurt our country's image in the world."
But the Italian leader, who himself sports a suntan, hit back at his critics - accusing them of not having a sense of humour. "God save us from the imbeciles," he said. The 72-year-old media mogul is no stranger to putting his foot in it.
more quotes from Berlesconi ...
At his first meeting with Danish Prime Minister Anders Fogh Rasmussen in 2002, Mr Berlusconi said: "Rasmussen is not only a great colleague, he's also the best-looking prime minister in Europe.
"He's so good looking, I'm even thinking of introducing him to my wife."
He sparked a minor diplomatic incident in 2005 by suggesting he had wooed Finnish President Tarja Halonen to ensure her backing for Italy to host the European Food Safety Authority.
"I had to use all my playboy tactics, even if they have not been used for some time," he said, prompting Helsinki to call in the Italian ambassador to explain the comments. many Italians are wishing he would get his jaws wired
he is obsessed with good looks .....

My response, vinny, was to your continued use of "messiah." Get over it. The neo-cons have been repudiated by about as clear a signal as could be arranged. If someone like Obama can beat McCain, if perhaps the most mediocre candidate put forth by the Democrats can beat an old warhorse like McCain, there's a lesson to be learned there.
And the lesson isn't that the "fringers" stole the election, no matter how much you continue to spin it that way.

Victory Greeted With Cheers in U.K. Parliament
In London, British Prime Minister Gordon Brown's congratulations to Mr. Obama for his "historic" victory were greeted with a loud round of cheers across the Houses of Parliament. Opposition Conservative Party leader David Cameron, who has echoed the language of change used by Mr. Obama, said in Parliament that the results showed the U.S. globally as "a beacon of hope for opportunity and change."
"The bonds that unite the United States and the U.K. are vital to our prosperity and our security and I know from talking to Sen. Obama that he will be a true friend of Britain," Mr. Brown said.
On Wednesday morning, political leaders rustled up connections with Mr. Obama. Both Irish leader Brain Cowen and Scotland's first minister Alex Salmond invited Mr. Obama to visit his "ancestral home." Scotland and Ireland have both laid claim to the president-elect's ancestor
Spanish Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero held a special press conference to hail Mr. Obama's victory, saying it opened "a new era of hope for the US and the world", and vowing that he would have "a loyal friend and ally in Spain." Bilateral relations between Spain and the U.S. have been frosty since Mr. Zapatero pulled Spanish troops out of Iraq shortly after his election in 2004. Mr. Bush had had a close relationship with the previous Spanish Prime Minister, Jose Maria Aznar, but never met with Mr. Zapatero.

Mr Sarkozy says Mr Obama's victory "has raised enormous hope" in Europe I'm sure that's true. They hope like hell that he doesn't screw things up completely. I'm full of hope now too. I hope he doesn't screw things up completely.

blondino - we all know the BBC is 100% liberal. Your cut and paste proved nothing.
The Israelis do not trust Barry and will afford him little respect. How will the Brits like it when he demands more troop into Afghanistan?
What do you think the BBC will say about that.
Berlusconi is a typical Italian leader. He says what he thinks.
Sarkosy is a tough conservative leader and his opinion of Barry is right on.
I guess he didn't give away enough free beer, brauts and wine on his Chevy Chase Style European Vacation this summer!

We can breathe again, says 'energised' Downing Street Despite having to show relative impartiality over US politics, Gordon Brown is clearly very happy about an Obama win. Upon becoming Prime Minister he sought to distance himself from George W. Bush, having seen the damage the Tony Blair's friendship with Bush did to his reputation. According to the BBC though, Brown is "is keen to jostle to the front of the queue of European leaders anxious to be seen with [Obama] first." Repairing the 'special relationship' between the US and the UK is now high on Brown's agenda.

So the BBC is putting words in the mouths of those European leaders?

Now we see that Barry's number one ally is worried about him!
Looks like the Messiah is getting it from all sides!
OSAMA Bin Laden is set to release a video threat to Barack Obama, fanatics have warned.
The al-Qaeda chief’s first message in months could come when Mr Obama names his first Cabinet.
Hate preacher Omar Bakri led the talk in extremist Arabic chatrooms. He said: “It will be fresh, addressing the Cabinet he chooses.”
In a direct threat, Bakri went on: “We will fight him if he fights against Islam.”

And what does that mean and who made the determination? Do you have inside information on how they came to that conclusion? BBC is liberal, only when compared to the ultra right media like Fox news or AM hate radio.
