I think people should protest outside where Rush Limbaugh broadcasts and have him removed from the air. I'm all for freedom of speech and all, but in Rush's case I think we've heard enough. First he commits a act of treason by saying that he hopes the President of the Unites States fails during a time of war. Now this nonsense that the President of the free world should take time off from his duties to sit and debate him. I know it's all suppose to be entertainment. But it is Rush who seems to think he is more than that. His ego is such that the obviously thinks he's, not just the leader of the Republican party, but the leader of the world.
Republican should just bite the bullet on this one, and reaffirm to the American public that his antics are not what the party is all about. Sure they are going to get a reaction from angry callers. But most of these people are ditto heads that seem to need a wake up call anyway. Limbaugh is just using the republican party and conservatives alike to advance the bigger agenda; "Rush" and his big mouth, that can't shut up and let the party get it's legs back. He's hurting the party more than helping. And , as much as I don't like it, the Democrats are taking full advantage of it. Who could blame them, really ? Rush is such an easy target. And the republican are too wimpy, or stupid, to know how to counter the Dems obvious strategy of attaching everything Rush says...well... "Rush's Party."
Since obviously neither the Democrats or the Republicans are willing to take the proper actions to shut this clown up, it's up to us; the American people. We need to be more vocal about what passes for informed political discourse. For every ditto head that calls in to the looney Limbaugh show, there needs to be an equal and opposing reasoned response telling the Republicans that they are right to take him to task. But, what am I proposing ? That's not going to happen. Most reasonable people would rather just stay out of it, and let him continue to put his foot in his mouth. Sooner or later, they might think, he's going to really cross the line, and that will be it...no more looney Limbaugh....I can only wish.

Freedom of speech gives you the right to listen or turn it off..
If we take one person off the air who is next you don't agree with?
How about Glen Beck..he's a anti-Obama kind of guy.
What 'rules' do we use to exclude someone you don't like?
Let the American people decide by not listening and his rating drop.
As of now, he has enough ratings to stay on the air.

Sure, Limbaugh is nuts, but should keep the freedom of speech.
There are limitations on the freedom of speech....inciting riots, hate speech, threats, teasonous comments and such can (and should, in some cases) be prevented.
Has Limbaugh crossed the line? Not in my opinion.

I stand by my opinion that he needs to get taken off the air. As far as I'm concerned he crossed the line in calling for Obama to fail during war time.

Controversy creates cash. 
If you do manage to con people to cause a great stir...you know, like picketing the building where he broadcasts...then the media will get involved and it'll be free publicity for his show.
Heck he might even get a raise.

Rush has the largest listening base, over 20 million listeners a week! More poeple tune in to him the all three major networks combined when they give the nightly news.  If they weren't scared of Rush, then why would the white house, Congress and all the drive by media keep bring up his name daily? answer is simple! Because he speaks the truth! If Obama was so certain he could debate Rush, and win, he would take his challenge, rather then hide behind his talking heads!  Say what you will, but Rush is the longest running radio talk show host and the most informed talk show host, that has been polled to be 99% acurate all the time.You don't become CPAC's main keynote speaker becuse you don't know the facts!

Nope. Wrong. Dead wrong. There might be a kernel of truth in what Rush says, but he adds so many layers of spin and deception that by the time it's delivered to the public, it's a steaming pile of horse puckies.
As for people listening to Rush...?
Aren't all the neo-cons lamenting how many stupid people there are in America? It runs both ways...

Gee, I don't know. Maybe our President is a little busy running the country, and knows that to debate Rush would belittle the highest office in the land. Oh, unless you can provide me with a precedent for any other sitting US President that ever debated a coward with a gold mic, that doesn't know when to shut his big mouth.

If you truly listen's to what Rush said and what he has been saying, you would understand, it's not the presidency he wants to fail, it's his Socialistic Policies he wants to fail. This country was built on Capitalism not Socialism.
The Democrats stood on the floor and said we had already lost the war and the "Surge" won't work. The dems called our troops murders, baby killers, rapers, and midnight thiefs For (6) years the democratcs said they wanted Bush to fail and they wanted him impeached. Bush was mocked by all drive by media, Bill Mahr, Leno, Letterman, Conan, and every news or entertainment outlet out there, that happen during war time. So what's the difference?

Is Rush Limbaugh still on the air? You mean people still listen to him after watching our economy brought to the brink of ruin? That surprises me. Rush represent an ideology that is beneficial only to a wealthy few and detrimental to everyone else. Why would anyone but the wealthy few listen to him? I guess I haven't been paying attention. I didn't realize there were people still being bamboozled by that mouth-piece of the rich. I figured he was off the air. First day here on the forums and I've learned something.
Anyway, no, I disagree about taking him off the air. Free speech and all. Rush has the right to spew his garbage.

You know what ? Save me the tired old ditto-head response that Rush is just so misunderstood, and the only ones that don't like him are those who obvious don't understand what he's saying. Limbaugh said that he's against Obama's liberalism. That so-called liberalism extends to his policies on the war. And as much as you and he want to side step and mince words, his meaning is all too clear. He can't separate Obama's policies from is Presidency. And the difference between Obama and Bush is that, among other things, Obama is not a war criminal that led this country to a war based on lies. Bill Mahr, Leno, Letterman and Conan are comedians, and Bush should have been mocked for his absurd Presidency.
Not to mention impeached and thrown in jail.The only reason why he's free right now is because Obama is too bushed cleaning up the mess he made of things. BTW, I wonder where you got the phrase "drive by media" from ?
