I have yet to see, hear, or read any reasonable explanation from any democratic source to explain any of this:

Runaway Democrats

I have heard, however, a lot of denial, ducking, and outright lying going on over this issue. Strangely the media is silent about this entire issue even though it is well documented.

Mostly from the right, apparently ignoring the fact it was largely Republicans who wrote and strongly supported the revisions in the CRA in 1995 and 1999.

This video has been debunked multiple times now. Did you notice, in the beginning of the video, it states: "Watch this. It may change your vote." It didn't work.

I'm starting to think we need a stickied thread, "Neo-Con Hoaxes That Have Been Debunked."

It'd save a lot of time spent debunking the same hoaxes again and again and again.

Of course, that assumes that the neo-cons would bother checking their forwarded emails and blogs for accuracy. Which, as we've seen, is a rare occurrence.

Actually it used to say you may change you vote. This has yet to be debunked but you guys are surely in full denial just as I stated. No surprise there considering the source. What it says now is reignite the fire because people deserve to know the truth, especially those that have lost their homes.

Well, there is a "truth squad." It's in Missouri. It includes prosecutors and sheriffs. Oh, and they have formed their truth squad to threaten and intimidate the critics of ..... Barack Obama.

Truth Squads?

Chris Dodd states that the housing bubble is the root cause of all of this economic downturn. He is one of your guys BTW.

The issue is named the subprime lender implosion in case you dismissed it, which is likely.

By ignoring the role of the Fed in creating the whole housing-market mess, Gordon's pronouncement that it is entirely a result of "market failure" is laughable on its face. He also flatly denies that CRA lending has had anything to do with why so many uncreditworthy borrowers have defaulted now that the Fed-generated housing bubble has burst. This, too, is an untenable position.

CRA culprit?

The Clinton administration has turned the Community Reinvestment Act, a once-obscure and lightly enforced banking regulation law, into one of the most powerful mandates shaping American cities—and, as Senate Banking Committee chairman Phil Gramm memorably put it, a vast extortion scheme against the nation's banks.

Dems Taking Us to Bankruptcy

Below, you will find citations substantiating
almost all assertions presented in the second video in the post titled:
1977 Community Reinvestment Act - Carter, Clinton, Obama.

Substantiation Timeline of Dem Destruction

Engaging the Market

Fannie Mae aimed to benefit from subprime loans and expand the market for them -- and hoped to pass much of the risk on to others, documents show.

Dems foisted greedy disaster on us all via government mandate

This is far from debunked. What it is is just what I said, denied. There is a mountain of evidence that goes ignored or just get swept to the side with people saying it is insignificant, when in fact it is quite relevant. Above the current issue it is insight into the Democratic party and shows what they, as a party, really care about. Unfortunately many Dems just follow along believing the lies and never looking for the truth while their party slowly destroys everything in their path. Morals, scruples, economics, generosity, kindness, love, true caring, acts of faith with other people are all stifled by politically correct baloney and high sounding ideals that are empty and full of venom, like change.

It'd save a lot of time spent debunking the same hoaxes again and again and again.

Incidentally if you could show evidence to the contrary it would be helpful instead of merely spouting your feelings which don't amount to much while our nation is being consumed and people are out on the street and Dems are throwing our money down a hole to save rats and fish among other things.

*yawn*

Wake me up when these old dogs learn new tricks. Same ol' stories, repeated ad nauseam, don't make them any less debunked now as they were six months ago.

C'mon. Call up your "talking heads" and get them to come up with something NEW.

How about President shrub's appointee's own testimony? Courtesy of Wiki:
In 1995, the CRA regulations were substantially revised to address criticisms that the regulations, and the agencies' implementation of them through the examination process, were too process-oriented, burdensome, and not sufficiently focused on actual results. The agencies also changed the CRA examination process to incorporate these revisions. Information about banking institutions' CRA ratings were made available via web page for public comment. The Office of the Comptroller of the Currency (OCC) also revised its regulations, allowing lenders subject to the CRA to claim community development loan credits for loans made to help finance the environmental cleanup or redevelopment of industrial sites when it was part of an effort to revitalize the low- and moderate-income community where the site was located.

During March 1995 congressional hearings William A. Niskanen, chair of the Cato Institute, criticized the proposals for political favoritism in allocating credit and micromanagement by regulators, and that there was no assurance that banks would not be expected to operate at a loss. He predicted they would be very costly to the economy and banking system, and that the primary long term effect would be to contract the banking system. He recommended Congress repeal the Act.

Responding to concerns that the CRA would lower bank profitability, a 1997 research paper by economists at the Federal Reserve found that "[CRA] lenders active in lower-income neighborhoods and with lower-income borrowers appear to be as profitable as other mortgage-oriented commercial banks". Speaking in 2007, Federal Reserve Chair Ben Bernanke noted that, "managers of financial institutions found that these loan portfolios, if properly underwritten and managed, could be profitable" and that the loans "usually did not involve disproportionately higher levels of default".

In 2002 there was an inter-agency review of the effectiveness of the 1995 regulatory changes to the Community Reinvestment Act and new proposals were considered. In 2003, researchers at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York noted that dramatic changes in the financial services landscape had weakened the CRA, and that in 2003 less than 30 percent of all home purchase loans were subject to intensive review under the CRA.

Nice try that debunked nothing. Once again there is a myriad of evidence that you all ignore. Dems are running us into the ground.

Lame, seal. Where is your evidence to the contrary? You have nothing that backs up the claim that provisions added to the banking deregulation in the 1990s contributed in any significant way to what the general deregulation, as pushed by the Republicans, was responsible for. But I have shown where several authorities have repoted that they, in fact, did NOT result in higher losses for financial institutions.

If you want to argue that deregulation was largely responsible for the housing bubble, and that both parties acted irresponsibly in passing it, I'll agree 100%. But this constant trying to shift any blame whatsoever away from the Republicans is just pointless and untrue.

If seal wants to ignore any intervening causes, why doesn't he blame the Founding Fathers for establishing the country? If they hadn't done that, there wouldn't be any Democratic party in the first place.

Evidence please. Evidence to refute every claim and lay this to rest totally. Not just pieces of liberal baloney that support one small part of refutation. That refutes nothing and merely proves again that you people are in denial.

How many reports do you need to say that the deregulation and easy credit was the root of the problem, and that it was promoted by BOTH parties? Obviously, the truth isn't going to change your mind. I'm not into making up fiction to do so.

I've got a new book to read (J.A. Jance, "Hand of Evil"), and you've become a collossal bore insisting you don't have to prove your charges, but that I have to refute them.

No you just ignore the facts and pull up only the ones that you like instead of the ones about Carter and his crowd getting the whole ball rolling. Or the facts connecting fannie to banks that were under CRA rules, despite claims otherwise. Denial after denial that is what I see and hear. Meanwhile dems are raiding the piggy bank and we'll all be broke when it is over, except for those that are in government circles that is.

We know you are incapacitated O and incoherent to boot.
