they should learn to save while things are good and be ready for times that are bad. and they can cobra their insurance, it just costs more.but working three jobs is great if they can handle it, but if they can't live off the pay from 3 jobs than they must be spending way too much money, time to let the house go and rent, let the car go back and buy a used cheaper car. it's sad but its true, if you can't afford to feed your kids, you better figure out what you are spending your money on and do some cutting. How did everyone survive the great depression.... they quit spending all there money and learne to save and to live cheaper.

You have absolutely no idea how things are for the uninsured, do you?
Save??? Save what?!?! They're juggling which bills to pay and which to let slide for another month. They're deciding between feeding their kids (which is something they CAN'T put off) and paying for health insurance (which they MIGHT need).

Bubba, if you would read you would see that i am not insured. and you said they had a good job, but now they don't. well while they had the good job what were they doing with all their money, oh yeah, thats right,spending it. now, they don't have that good job and they really wish they had saved up... no wait... now hey don't have that good job and they think that because i work 70 hours a week every week that I should pay for them, And i do have a kid to feed, and i do pay my medical bills.
But i think if we are going to try it we should have a 3 year trial in california. they bring most of this crap on us so they should be the first to go completely bancrupt...oh wait, too late, they have already bancrupted themselves. and now they want bailed out.

I don't have a job, I was laid off. I don't have any health insurance since I lost my job.
But guess what?
Unlike it seems just about everyone else these days I DON'T WANT SOMEONE ELSE TO HAVE TO PAY FOR MY HEALTH CARE.
I was raised by people who taught me that you are not entitled to things at other peoples' expense. You have to go out and earn them for yourself. Taking from other people is called STEALING.
I was taught that FOR EVERY PERSON WHO GOT SOMETHING THEY DIDN'T EARN, SOMEONE ELSE EARNED SOMETHING THEY DIDN'T GET.
It seems 90% of the rest of the people in this country today are only interested in what they can get for free from somebody else.
That is a recipe for collapse.

So long as its being forced on us we should force attorneys that make the majority of the money won on malpractice suits to donate 50% of any settlement back to healthcare itself.

If you go to the ER, you are treated without regard to your ability to pay. That is why 100% of the people in this country already have access to the full range of health care, even people who are here illegally (not that I endorse this, but it is a fact, contrary to the liberal propaganda that denies it.)
I know where you are going, but you can't get there from here because you do not know if I have the ability to pay or not.

those corporations all(thats every one of them) started from nothing. they pay taxes lots of taxes, they employ people, lots of people.and they donate lots of money to charity. What the hell did they do so wrong(other than to suceed).
They are in business to make money. Period. thats is why you start a business. when regulations make it unprofitable to do their business, they will stop. then lots of taxes are gone, lots of jobs are gone and those charites go under. thats not to mention ther products or services they provide. And if you say they don't pay enough, well they told the people wht they would make before they started working. they don't have thugs standing at the door forcing the people to work. and those corporations all supply health care. thats the topic of this thread. so if you thnk corporations are so bad, don't deal with them.
BTW almost all trucking companies are incorporated, so you better not buy anything that was every on a truck either, becaquse that is supporting them mean ole corporations.

They ask you if you have insurance. If you don't they ask you how you will pay. If you say you can't they treat you anyway.
I don't know what sort of financial controls they have to check beyond taking your word for it. I suspect not many because the people who are being treated for "free" are forcing the costs up so much for everyone else that it seems it is just about everyone.
As with most everything else in our system, a small number of people are paying the bills for everyone else, while the people getting everything for free are calling the one's who are paying for them greedy and evil.
Also, like the rest of the system in this country, they don't bother with much financial control when they have unlimited access to taxpayers (or health care payers) wallets. Who cares about financial control, it's only the greedy evil taxpayers money anyway.

I'd personally like to see a tiered system of healthcare. Start off with the requirements: Every American should have basic healthcare, if for no other reason than human decency. And for a pragmatic reason: businesses invest a lot of money into training their employees (not as much as before, as employees are more disposable than anytime in the last fifty years...), why should a preventable illness cost businesses money? Every year, we get reports from the government where "$XXX billion are lost to illness, accident, and death of employees or their kin." It simply stands to reason that, if by spending a little money, we can end up saving businesses money and productivity, AND make our fellow citizens healthy.
After basic healthcare is met, some sort of needs-based emergency care program. Right now, one of the leading causes of bankruptcy (and the associated breakups of families, among other problems) is catastrophic illness or injury. I don't care whether it's government-managed or industry-managed, as long as people don't have to worry about one bad thing (possibly even someone else's fault) causing their family to be destroyed.
As for the cosmetic stuff...? If it's repair work, include it in the emergency care. If it's vanity work, let them pay for it themselves.
