I've listened to it. It's that damned "American Tea Party" video. It's full of hoaxes, exaggerations, and partisanship.
But my MAIN point is that MF has posted that video in multiple threads, INCLUDING several threads she's started. So find one of those threads that hasn't been closed down due to her ranting/blogging and bump it. Don't start yet ANOTHER thread about it.

The sad thing is that the ATP (American Tea Party) movement thinks it can actually accomplish anything. Instead, like all third parties, it will either be ineffective and dissolve, or it will gain sufficient votes to be a credible third party and end up hurting its own cause.
We're a two-party system. From the time of the 1792 elections, when the "pro-administration" and "anti-administration" elements settled into the Federalist and Democratic-Republican parties, respectively, we've been pretty consistently a two-party system. (Exception: The Federalist opposition to the War of 1812 ended up shattering the party, resulting in a decade of the Democratic-Republicans running virtually unopposed. Was there any point where, due to a popular third major party, no party enjoyed a majority?)
We've had dozens of third parties. Most of them have "one plank" platforms. Sometimes those platforms overlap both political parties (but are ignored in favor of other "planks"), sometimes those platforms overlaps one party but not the other, and sometimes those platforms are opposed by both parties.
What we have here, with the ATP, is an example of a third-party which overlaps one of the planks of a major party. The "anti-government" sentiment (i.e. "dismantle/weaken the Federal government to return the power to the states") is one of the oft-ignored "planks" within the Republican party (and, incidentally, the Libertarian party). The Republican party has done a better job of drawing in the "small government" and "state's rights" voters than has the Democrats. As a consequence, and because of our two-party system, the ATP will draw its power primarily from the Republicans (and the Libertarians).
The ATP is not a threat to the entrenched powers. If they fail to garner enough votes in the 2012 elections, they'll fizzle out, just like dozens of other inconsequential movements over the last 220 years. If they get a decent showing, they may stick around like the half-dozen third-parties, and be a perpetual thorn in the side of the major parties--serving as a "protest vote" to show displeasure with one or both major parties.
If the ATP makes any difference in the 2012 election, it'll be to cost the Republicans the presidential election. The ATP's "political plank" will draw more heavily from the Republicans than from the Democrats.
As long as the two major parties remain intact, no third party has a chance of winning any major national power. The ATP can either be inconsequential (i.e. fizzle out at the ballot box), garner a respectable 2-3% of the vote (and still be ignored as "just another third party"), or make an actual showing at the polls (say, 5% of the vote, but end up costing its cause by handing the election to the Democrats).

American 3rd parties might look to Canada (or Europe) for hints.
Granted, the electoral system is significantly different, but parites rise & fall on a pretty regular basis here. With the exception of 1 current party....they're all new. (The current party in power, although only a few years old, is arguably much older...as it is pretty much an old party with a facelift.)
Ya, I know, americans are pretty hardcore about "doing things their own way", but if there's a good idea out there, or an idea that can be morphed into a good idea more applicable to the american system.....why not? Take it. Make it your own!

Personally, I'd love to see the political parties put out of commission. There's simply too much pandering that goes on. Many issues are honored only in the election season. Once the election is over, the parties go back to worshiping the top 1%ers and ignore the rest of us.

Yep...I totally agree..Too much Pandering...The whole system is now corrupted..BOTH parties...
Fortunately...I was watching a congressional meeting and there still are some good politicians there sticking up for the American people...but they also mentioned that they are being blackmailed if they dont vote the way the Elites want them too terrible things are going to happen to us...
I saw that with my own eyes..quite shocking....
I think the problem is much deeper now than the two party system..That is being used as a distraction.
But I think alot of people are starting to come around and see that something is very very wrong...
They are only using that to divide us all the while they impliment their plan..the NWO.
And some fall for it.

And some fall for it. MF, a lot of us have seen it coming... for a long time. And what choices are we presented with at the ballot box? There is a reason so many Americans Don't VOTE... because they feel it's a wasted effort. Simply repeatedly castigating the two-party system and proclaiming that we have to "take back the government!" doesn't offer a single idea for a plan to actually do so. (HInt, standing around with some signs and slogans and ineffectually threatening not to reelect them isn't going to actually do it.)
Meanwhile, a lot of people who might otherwise agree with your position, look at you and ask: But what are you offering? You want to turn the nation into some fundamentalist Christian nation it never was, not realizing that a candidate who would be what YOU are seeking would never get elected when every Catholic, Muslim, agnostic, Buddhist, Taoist, Pagan, Druid and most Episcopalians would vote against them on principle. If you think McCain got beat, I can guarantee you that the vote Against Mike Huckabee thinking we can "bring the Constitution into line with God's word" would have given Obama a landslide.
So, what candidate are you supporting, and how many people can you send to Congress to support them, so that every one of their proposals isn't simply ignored and Congress collectively decides to pass anything and everything they want over veto after veto, just so the entrenched system can prove that a third party candidate is ineffective?
