No Kidding, One in Three Children Fear Earth Apocalypse

There's a new bogeyman lurking in the closet, and this one isn't imaginary. Us [not "us" actually, but liberals]. One out of three children aged 6 to 11 fears that Ma Earth won't exist when they grow up, while more than half—56 percent—worry that the planet will be a blasted heath (or at least a very unpleasant place to live), according to a new survey.
Commissioned by Habitat Heroes and conducted by Opinion Research, the telephone survey polled a national sample of 500 American preteens—250 males and 250 females.
On a sliding scale of anxieties, minority kids have it worst; 75 percent of black children and 65 percent of Hispanic children believe that the planet will be irrevocably damaged by the time they reach adulthood.
Interestingly enough, kids vex over the state of the planet, especially when it came to safe and clean air and water, regardless of any pro-environmental measures on the part of their parents. A staggering 95 percent of the children surveyed said their parents pitched in by recycling, using rechargeable batteries, and conserving water and electricity.
"We commissioned the survey as a result of my own childrens' experiences with the recent fires in Australia as they expressed much concern for both their safety and the planet’s,” said Sharon Lowe, founder of Habitat Heroes, in a press release. “While it is upsetting to hear how many children in the United States have expressed similar concerns, I am more committed than ever to help educate children around the globe in a way that is not scary to them.”
Other interesting findings
50 percent say that hurricanes and tornadoes are the natural disasters that scare them the most.
28 percent say that they fear animals, such as polar bears and penguins, will become extinct and disappear from the planet more than any other environmental concern.
Girls worry more
67 percent of girls ages 9-11 versus 60 percent of boys ages 9-11 worry that the earth won’t be as good a place to live when they're adults.
57% of girls ages 6-8 versus 43 percent of boys ages 6-8 worry that the earth won’t be as good a place to live when they're adults.
Urban kids are more anxious than suburban kids
59 percent of kids in metro areas are more concerned that the Earth won’t be as good a place to live when they grow up compared to non-metro kids (47 percent).

Some wacked-out self-important elitist environmental destructionists are proud of the damage they're doing! (In one instance, a guy actually fired up deisel generators during earth hour! Hard to believe, and, I admit, my source is somewhat questionable....)

PB... you're too young to remember what the conservatives put kids through in the 50s and 60s.. And although they won't admit it, they were in large part RESPONSIBLE for the youth of the 60s becoming what they were... "Live for the moment, man, because one of these suckers are gonna push the button!" Growing up worrying about The Bomb.. your heart skipping every time that stupid Emergency Broadcast Test system went off. Heck, I'll bet DR still gets down on the floor with a flashlight to make sure there isn't a Commie hiding under his bed before he turns in at night!
Frankly, after seeing what happened to Florida and the Gulf coast over the past few years, I don't see how kids can NOT be scared of hurricanes! Good! Maybe they won't be the kind who will be stupid enough to think they can sit through it, but will heed evacuation warnings! Of course, they saw nightly on the news that IF a hurricane hits where they live, help will not be coming swiftly (if at all).
As for their concerns Earth will not be as nice a place to live when they grow up, how many of their parents' generation are seeing cleaner air now than when they were a kid? How many of them see the world as a safer, cleaner, more secure place now than it was when they were their childrens' ages? I don't know much about the penguin populations, but I think they're actually correct in worrying that polar bears may be completely extinct in the wild in another 40 years.

I did not realize that JFK & LBJ were conservatives. Who knew? If I remember correctly, from 1961 through 1968, liberals were in charge of the house, senate, the white house and the supreme court. In the 1950's,while Joe McCarthy chaired the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations, another prominent conservative, Robert Kennedy was his committee staff, as part of legal counsel.
It was not a liberal/conservative issue. Both sides of the aisle were involved, the left just as much as the right.

I've felt that way from the day I was conceived. 
The concept is far from new or unique. In the 50's and 60's it was pretty widely understood that humans-beans would somehow find a way to annihilate themselves in due course.
We're a dangerous species. Bent on self-destruction, one way or another. We keep trying different things, and although they haven't done us in so far, there are always new ways to try.
I suspect God put us on earth as some form of entertainment. Give them a dash of intelligence, but not too much, and see how they can turn it into a weapon against themselves. Then he threw in an extra dose of machismo, just for good measure, to keep it interesting.

Are people around the world neglectful of cleaning up their messes? of course they are! But Global Warming pure speculation and scare tactics. Their agenda isn't to save the planet it's to increase taxs world wide, in the name of saving the planet. Starting with America, another way to make them feel guilty for having a good life.
Liberals thrive off of gloom and doom, it creates a "Crises" for liberals that's a good thing, it puts fear in the minds of the uninformed, it further allows them to attack big business, the rich, and creates class envy, rather then aspiring to become independent, it's easier to control their minds in poverty and make them dependent on the government. Yes class envy is what our tax system is all about. Fairness is irrelevant, just ask some of the posters here. Independence? Well that is an old concept that doesn't work unless you have some desire, a brain, and a little ambition. Better to be dependent on the government for everything. God? He doesn't exist just ask a liberal so depending on the government is the only viable option, just ask some of the left wing radicals here they will clarify everything since they can see and everyone else is blind.
