So, a neighbor calls the police about what appears a break-in in progress and a police cruiser is dispatched to investigate at a residential neighborhood where the exact same house had previously been broken into.
Upon arrival at the scene the arresting officer observed a black man in the house who responded to all conversation belligerently and refused to show any identification upon request.
The subject was loud and immediately called the police officer a racist.
After finally showing identification to establish that he was the householder, the arresting officer with the Cambridge Police Department went to confer with responding Campus Police Officers from the University that employed the loudmouth belligerent subject,
The subject then used a cell phone in an attempt to call the chief of police, in a wrongful attempt to escalate the reasonable response of the police officer into a political dimension by invoking insider connections on the part of the loudmouth.
Eventually, the loudmouth was arrested for disorderly conduct. Charges were dropped, because the scene was at the loudmouth's residence, notwithstanding that the loudmouth "had it coming."
This is how it is among Liberal Americans. They are elitists and believe that they are exempt from laws and can use political contacts to "get out of it."
Joining the loudmouth, from the White House was President Obama who said the Police had acted "stupidly" even though in his statement, the elitist loudmouth President admitted that he did not know the facts,
Just the facts.

I heard about this. The arresting officer refused to apologize. Obama did apologize for his statement after getting the facts.

Obviously you've never had to contend with being harrassed by law enforcement because you didn't "look" like you belonged where you were, be it behind the wheel of a nice car or in a nice home.
You're home late at night from a long trip, over tired and just want to go to bed. You have trouble getting into your house, but finally remember to use the right keys and combinations. You deactivate the alarm code, perhaps pour a nightcap. And there is a knock at the door. It's the police. They say "Who are you?" You announce, "I"m Para. I live here. What's the problem?" And they start demanding identification. You show your Harvard University ID. And they proceed to tell you to step outside. And as a black man, being confronted in his own home by a white law enforcement officer in the middle of the night, when do you ask yourself, "Would I be being treated this way if I was white? How much proof would I have to show to prove I was in my own home if I was white?" As a nationally recognized figure on racial issues, how much hate mail do you receive?
But the man standing his ground in his castle, as Para has SO OFTEN advised we do, is now described as a "loudmouth elitist liberal."
Why do I think that, had this happened to a white conservative, Para would be lambasting the officers who were "probably liberals, given that they work in a liberal town like Cambridge"?

One Obama really did not apologize.Two as POTUS he should have made no comment.Three as usual they are turning this into a race issue with Obama being first in line to fan the flames.Part of the problem is the professor is a buddy of Obama's otherwise i doupt if it would have been a national issue.Obama needs to learn to keep his pie hole shut.

I can only wonder how long it took Gates to get right in the officer's face and holler..."Do you know who I am??...Do you know who I KNOW??"...
Kudos to all the blacks who know this fine officer is no racist and have come to his defense. And a bagfull of kudos to the black police Sgt. who was on the scene and said in no uncertain terms that Sgt. Crowley did exactly the right thing as Gates brought it on himself by his continuous belligerent attitude...
I hope this is finally the episode that will bring to the forefront how fed up so many whites are with being automatically labeled racist every time a conflict with a black is involved. I hope this story builds and builds and doesn't let up.
What I find most interesting about this whole thing though is the deafening silence coming from Jesse & Al!! Maybe even they could see how out of line bamasiah is on this one...

How in the hell was the cop to know. It was reported to him by the loudmouths neighbor. The cop did not know who lived there.

Obama's take on the situation: "My sense is you've got two good people in a circumstance in which neither of them were able to resolve the incident in a way that it should have been resolved." Smartest thing anybody's said about the whole thing.

That was after Obama talked to them on the phone...He even invited them to the white house for a beer.
One thing is...there was a witness to the this whole event...the taxi driver, for Gates had just returned from his China trip and was very tired. The taxi driver was helping him to get into his house.

Gate's wasn't arrested for burglary...he was arrested for disorderly conduct. He was released Tuesday.

The fact that the President was skeptical of the police instead of automatically defending them is very significant in and of itself. It also underscores the fact that our society is changing, was were once alternative views are become mainstream, and there's a whole lot of "good old boy" types that don't like it.
You have a Black president in office.
You have a Latina headed to the Supreme Court.
You have a woman as speaker of the house.
The old White Male power structure is begging to crack. Consequently, you've got a host of people (no need to mention names) making a big stink of it.
Get used to it, guys. This country is never gong back to the way it was, nor should it.

Obama was badly out of line on this one!! Very poor judgment.
His reaction was surprising. I'm sure he wishes he could reel that one back in. Much too revealing.
And yes, it is about time for Holder to weigh in.. Oh, and Sharpton too.

Supporters including Al Sharpton and Jesse Jackson called the arrest an outrageous act of racial profiling. Public interest increased when a photograph surfaced of the handcuffed Gates being escorted off his porch amid three officers, two white and one black.

This country is never gong back to the way it was, nor should it.
Correct...
And one thing it will never return to is the systemic racism of the past that really did hold an entire race back.
See, 50 some years ago, a bunch of them thar white male power structure dudes set into place this little thing called affirmative action. A good and proper thing to do to right a lot of very serious wrongs. And in it's time it did a lot of good. It was a great equalizer, as evidenced by the many blacks who took advantage of it and did just fine. And continue to do so. This prez we have now is testimony to that being a fact.
But it's time has passed.
What racism that is left is pretty much isolated personal cases that any black person can sidestep in a flash. Sure there are some bigots with some power running loose out there, but they are few and far enough between to be dealt with on an individual basis.
And what's left will never be done away with until all sides can put aside their attitudes, talk with each other and more importantly, listen to each other. And that includes the fact that blacks will have to finally concede that what was once the racism of long ago is a thing of the past, long ago dead and buried. They will have to understand that many white folks are sick and tired of being labeled racist when there's a conflict or disagreement with the lockstep agenda still being foisted by "racebait for profit" blacks. They will have to acknowledge that many of their own are now just as racist as any white person ever was, And most important, blacks will have to get through their heads that what problems remain for them as a race are largely of their own doing.

back on topic..
this is not a racial thing..it is a constitutional thing regarding police powers..vs a man's home..
damn straight that the cop was in the wrong...he should have apologized after finding out that there was no break in and left.. but instead he pulled the "respect for authority/ badge" card...and arrested the citizen for being....disorderly in his own home ( private property...)
saying it so the slow people will understand..
doesn't a citizen have the right to tell an officer to immediately leave their property ..if no law is being broken......
and remember just what Obama's law forte is...
