Washington Post Promoting Business Round Table Propaganda

Just to get everyone in the mood for the mass amnesty the Bush administration is secretly planning, the Washington Post blared across its front page this week a report of a new study that claims "Immigrants Account For Half Of New Workers: Report Calls Them Increasingly Needed For Economic Growth." [by D’Vera Cohn, December 2, 2002.]
Well, now, if immigrants are "increasingly needed" for economic growth, surely no sane American can be opposed.
By cleverly playing on desire for material gain and fear of losing what is "needed" for it, the Post managed to manipulate public opinion toward favoring mass immigration.
The study in question has just been released by the Center for Labor Market Studies at Northeastern University and happens to have been commissioned by the Business Roundtable, a gaggle of Big Business leaders who just happen to like mass immigration and the cheap labor it imports. In fact, what the study tells us about cheap labor is probably more important than what the Post chose to report at all. The study found that 80 percent of new male workers in the United States over the last decade were immigrants, and of the 13 million, legal and illegal, who entered the country in the 1990s, 8 million joined the labor force, "in a period when the total number of new workers was 16 million." Therefore, half the new workers were foreign-born.
Just in case you're not convinced by now, the Post drives the lesson home. "Without new immigrants, the labor force would have experienced no growth in New England and the New York region," it preaches, though it also acknowledges that "in the fast-growing southern and Rocky Mountain states ... which drew population from elsewhere in the country, immigrants had less of an effect."
The study seems to regurgitate the stale chestnut that "immigrants take jobs Americans refuse to take" and also seems largely to ignore the possibility that mass immigration takes jobs from Americans or forces their wages down or both.
(Many of my friends have lost their jobs due to the illegals coming here)
The Post does rather grudgingly admit that "the report cited evidence that the entry of many poorly educated immigrants into the workforce has held back wages of the lowest-paid American-born workers."
But the truth is that this is the whole point.
One of the major reasons the American ruling class has permitted mass immigration on such a huge scale for the last 30 years has been precisely to drive down wages, gain cheap labor and undermine the bargaining position of labor.
(They are BILLIONAIRES....how much money do they need? Do the begrudge us to live civilized lives? Yes....they are sick greedy people...People who have lost their sense of community..)
What the new study tells us is that the plan has worked.
Harvard economist George Borjas estimates that immigration has already reduced wages for lesser skilled American-born workers, but his estimate may be too low.
A study from the Columbia University Economics Department by economists Donald Davis and David Weinstein, released last May, finds that "the magnitude of losses for U.S. natives may be quite large--$72 billion per year or 0.8 percent of Gross Domestic Product." [Download full report in PDF] For some reason, the Post story didn't get around to mentioning either Professor Borjas or the Columbia study.
But it did emphasize yet again that immigrants are just so needed. "The American economy absolutely needs immigrants," Andrew Sum, the study's director, told the Post. "Some people get very angry when I say this, but our economy has become more dependent on immigrant labor than at any time in the last 100 years."
The argument for the "necessity" of immigrants is that economic growth can't take place without them (not true, since Japan managed to grow significantly for 40 years with hardly a single immigrant and with virtually none of the much-vaunted "diversity" so gabbled about in the West)

The example the study offers to support the latter contention is 7-Eleven, which expanded by several hundred stores each year in the last decade because of the low-wage immigrants who work in them.
But the company could also have expanded by hiring low-wage minority youth or low-wage elderly people, both categories Americans.
Moreover a good deal of the low-wage jobs for which immigrants are said to be so "needed" could simply be automated, as most fast-food palaces already virtually are, despite the immigrants who work at them. Fully automated 7-Eleven's might be even more efficient than they are now.
The point is that entrepreneurs will find ways to lower costs, even if the cheap and easy (and exploitative and culturally destructive) way of importing a new underclass is denied to them.
Despite the Post's best efforts to prove that mass immigration is “needed,” it failed to make the case.
What's really needed is to protect what remains of the American-born workforce by shutting off mass immigration now.

When the illegals were pouring over our borders...and I watched the Minuet Men form..and then they were slandered by our government and the propaganda media...and I watched my friends put out of their jobs...and I began to see towns FULL of people who spoke no english and were aggressively hateful towards me...I knew we were in trouble..
So I continually complained to Washington...... As well as many other Americans asking our Government to protect us.....
But our concerns fell on deaf ears..In fact..we were called all kinds of unkind names....and accused of 'not caring' about poor people...When in fact...we are now becoming the 'poor people'..
So what did I do...I QUIT the Republican party and havent given them one dime since...They are not doing their job..and neither are the Democrats...You see..they are not 'for the people' anymore..but moreso only for themselves..
They think America is now their 'Private Corporation' to do with as THEY see fit...
One problem...Our constitution is still here..and thats our Ace in the hole...We need to get back to it and insist that it be followed to the letter..
The crooks try to tell you that its old and outdated..But dont you believe them...Its a great thorn in trying to tricking you...
Thats why they are trying to recruit the young and innocent of our nation now...Just like Saul Aulinsky, the communist/marxist taught them to do..They young are niave...innocent and idealists...they have no clue how the world really works...the realities of life..Wisdom takes years to develope.
BOTH PARTIES...BOTH CORRUPT TO THE CORE..
The one and only job of our politicians and the government ....is to protect the people of the United States from foreign invasion..and any other thing that will destroy our nation..or harm its peoples.

So...what is that healthcare for then? The illegals...The gov..wants us to 'fund' the benefits packages for large corporations....
The Government has tried to sell us on a total lie..Global Warming...using this hoax to tax the hell out of us...a tax that would surely destroy us and turn us into paupers....poor people....all of us...thats exactly what they want..Why? Because we would be powerless and very controlable..
The Government is not for us anymore...but seek to destroy us and our American traditions..They seek to wipe away our heritage and customs so they can pursure their own selfish World Government pursuits....They dont care about us anymore...They have hijacked OUR country...amazing huh..
So heres my next question....What race are we going to import next? When the new immigrants move up the ladder...and where do the displaced Americans go...

People from India...and furthermore..we have a sweetheart deal with India..giving each of those who immigrate here $200,000...This is what the Indian immigrants have told us...True story..
These are jobs Americans will do and have been for years..So where are our FELLOW AMERICANS supposed to go for work..when their own government is betraying them..allowing these types of invasions...?[/B]

I know I complained under Bush. I have been complaining for 2 or 3 years now. Got called a racist by liberals each time. They would say immigrants are looking for a better way of life and they are hard working people. They supported them.(but said white people were wrong to do it centuries ago). I complained about immigrants taking advantage of US resources, such as welfare and medicaid. Still, liberals defended them.( but complained of white people doing it years ago) I complained about crime they did here. Liberals said it was racist to mention or notice their race.(but it was OK to remember that centuries ago, it was white people who brought crime on the Native Americans). Liberals mentioned constantly that it was white people that brought small pox to the Native Americans.( but now, there are complaints from them that its wrong to mention "swine flu" originated in Mexico). I will say and never had a problem with it being mention white people immigrated here, bringing diseases, crime and using up resources while looking for a better way of life, because it was white people that did it. But the Natives did not fight hard enough. Look where they are. Native Americans live as white people do. The true Native American culture is lost. And today,people pay to see their imitation culture, because the real culture is lost and gone. Now, Hispanics has brought crime here to the US, now disease, and is using up our resources, with support from liberals, (even though they said it was wrong when white people did it). Its history repeating itself.

Wrong!!!! It was the Mexicans! They sold the U.S. land for $15 million; this land became California, Wyoming, Idaho, Oaklahoma, Nevada, Utah, Arizona, New Mexico, and Colorado. This was all established through the [/B]Treaty [B]of Guadalupe Hildalgo after the American-Mexican war.

Actually, around here, teenage Americans did it for summer jobs. I had so much fun in the tobacco fields. Only immigrants do it now. Its a shame, because I wish my children could do it.
