No surprise there.
Now off to the House, which again, will be no surprise when it passes there either.

What I don't get is this posturing.
I think its all about not over hurting the republican feelings.

Now that Congress is on August recess maybe we can finally compare-contrast the Dem-GOP plans without the partisan rhetoric. I hope there's still room to choose the best of both and come up with the best overall plan.

Won't happen Dems don't have too worry about listening to dissenting views they own the house and the senate their only obstacle will be the some in fighting because they all want to make sure they get their own dirty deals done.

Republicans aren't innocent, either. Their grandstanding scare tactics and deep wish to humiliate Obama and the Dems don't bode well for a bipartisan future....

The Republicans have more than health care reform in their bombsights -- they want a loss for Obama so crushing it will bring the administration to its knees and restore GOP control of Congress after next year's elections. In the words of Republican Senator Jim DeMint, "If we're able to stop Obama on this, it will be his Waterloo. It will break him."

The "Waterloo" of DeMint's metaphor, of course, is not the 1974 ABBA hit but the battle in 1815 that ended Napoleon Bonaparte's rule as Emperor of France -- a humiliating defeat and a turning point in European history. Right-wingers like Glenn Beck see Obama as Napoleon incarnate, a popular emperor who must be stopped.

Here's what Beck said on his television show Monday, July 20: "I'm telling you, this guy is dangerous. He's never lost before. He won't understand... like, 'Who are you to question me?' I mean, this guy is practically an imperial President now. When he starts to lose and people start to question him and push him back against the wall, he's not gonna know how to react."

The Republican strategy is almost identical to the way they turned health care into Waterloo for Bill and Hillary Clinton in 1993. Back then, one of their chief propagandists, William Kristol, urged his party to block any health care plan for fear that Democrats would be seen as "the generous protector of middle class interests." Now he's telling the GOP to "go for the kill... throw the kitchen sink... drive a stake through its heart... We need to start over."

So in lockstep are the Republicans that when strategist Alex Castellanos issued a memo outlining their battle plan, party chairman Michael Steele parroted large sections of it word for word in a speech at Washington's National Press Club. Asked a health care-related question that took him off script, Steele replied, "I don't do policy."

As the Republicans fired away, big business stepped up the attack, too, their lobbying and advertising guns blazing. The Chamber of Commerce, for one, announced a major campaign of rallies and print and Internet ads to crush the White House plan for a competitive public option allowing consumers to choose between a government plan and private health insurance. In key states where members of Congress remain on the fence, the airwaves are vibrating with television commercials aimed at shifting hearts and minds away from any change that might threaten profits. I have no solution now.. but put us in power and I will then have one....

even if it parrots Obama's,,his is wrong..but ours will be right....

Gentleman your barking up the wrong tree if ya think i'm Republican i have a great distain for both parties and the way Government is being run.Just pointing out that Dems are in charge and they should have no problem passing any legistlation they wish to.To think the Dems in Congress will listen to anything that the Repubs suggest is like the Dem posters on M.D listening to the Rep posters.

Democrats are having trouble passing the kind of bill Obama wants. There are way too many republicans and quite a few democrats that are very beholden to the insurance industry.

If something isn't done, we will be in another economic collapse again, in the very near future. This is one of the things that put us where we are today.

We CANNOT sustain the health industry at the rates of the past or today...........

That isn't even an issue in any way.

This is one of those situations where so many people are willing to cut of their noses to spite their faces, and it is so obvious, that I don't know how they can expect to be taken seriously.

People don't get the whole scope of this Health Care "Reform". Each selected committee in the House and Senate have their own reform proposal, which is what Obama asked for from the beginning. The largest and most resent struggle in the House of Obama's proposal...America’s Affordable Health Choices Act of 2009 was with the Democract Blue Dogs, not just the few Republicans. The Blue Dogs in The Energy and Commerce Committee, which I kept mentioning prevously, were the ones that kept blocking the proposal. You can see the process the individual committee member amendments at their website.

The Congressional Budget Office still has not completed the cost estimates of a government run health care program. The Budget members just introduced their first cost estimate on July 17th.

The Senate has their own Health Care Proposal Bills; One is from the Senate Finance Committee and the other is Health, Education, Labor and Pension (HELP) Committee (holds jurisdiction over Health Care), which both these committees offer extensive competing proposals.

The House Committees (3-by voice vote) have approved their proposals and go for a full House vote after Aug. vacation.

The Senate Committees are yet to complete their delegations of their Committee Proposals. The Senate goes on vacation Aug. 7th.

Once The House and the Senate reach complete votes in their proposals, the end reform will go for the full Congress vote on it's "legislature". Once this passes the "full Congress" votes, Obama signs it into law.

This Health Care Reform is huge and it must require all Committees approvals and be combined into a "One Package" reform bill to become a law.

For those that continue the party war, which is rediculious! The Congress does need the Republican votes in order for this Health Care "Legistature" to pass.

Exactly my point a few post ago angel to state that the repubs are blocking anything is ridiculous the Dems have the votes and are just fighting each other. So if you point the finger at those "rascaly republicans" your pointing in the wrong direction.JMHO

I agree with budo. The republicans can (and will) complain about every single thing the democrats do in any capacity. But in the end, they pushed themselves out of power, so they have no say in anything that actually happens in the real world.

Will they try to block any action by democrats? Of course. But without help from democrats, they will fail.

This health bill is a democrat baby, and it's success or failure will be in the hands of the people America the beautiful put in power.

Pelosi says..."Don't worry about it...it will be paid for" as she pushes lawmakers to create taxes and raise already the taxes that we have.

We won't hear the last of her during the Congress break either. She's bound to flap her gums all over the country this coming 2 weeks with her pep talk rallies.

Pelosi is suppose to be on Vacation with the House members...It's closed! She did the same thing last year when the House went on vacation; She remained in action by promoting her book in vacational tour, then takes the stage at the Democract Convention...LOL. Americans were voicing on the high gas prices during her summer vacational tour (laughing here), and she stated:

"When wecome back from vacation, we will have a full discussion, as we have been having, about how that energy independence is achieved and what the impact is on consumers."(8/20/08)

Pelosi is famous for her fibs. She even wheeled and dealed during the Bush Administration on the vacations; always pushing Reagan and the Cold War to the forefront. LMAO!

Pelosi isn't "Speaker of the House....she runs it! As so she thinks...

But not to worry...she is a Democrat so she's allowed to break the House rules right?
