It seems that Ted Kennedy had a type of major turn around in his life after he married his second wife. From interviews I listened to last night, his second wife put down the law on her husband's antics and also on all the other younger kennedy antics.
It seems that not just Ted but the kids were not all that civil. The new wife put the reins on Ted's drinking and other rompings. It seems that if not for his second wife Ted may have or could have drunk himself into the gutter years earlier.
The above I obtained by listening to CNN, MSNBC, and yes, Fox news.

And how many family members did Ted lose in the '60's and then raised the 13 kids?
Ted admitted to his life erors and never applied the crown of glory to his head...only the condemned mounted it. LOL

Good observation, crouch. I heard the same thing over the past couple days, too, about his second wife being his salvation.
I also saw a nice bio of him last night on PBS. I don't think most people have any idea just how much tragedy he endured. People usually just think the famous brothers, JFK and RFK, being assassinated, but forget his popular sister Kathleen (died young in a plane crash) and assorted relatives (the death of John Jr being the most famous, but certainly not the only). His son, Edward Kennedy, Jr., being diagnosed with chondrosarcoma and having his leg amputated in 1973.
Think about the unbelievable pressure that was forced upon him by society as the last surviving Kennedy son? The pressure to live up to past glory, to be president?
I'd probably be a drooling basket case and dead long before now if it were me?
He was obviously a flawed and dysfunctional person, but so are all of us. Despite the added burden of fame and expectations he found his niche in the Senate and gave decades of sterling service. He did so by working hard and not by sitting back and relying on his name and pedigree to carry him through.
The Chappaquiddick issue was of course a stain on his life and he never lived it down. It cost him any shot at the presidency, which it probably should have.
I still think he deserves some thoughtful appreciation. Not glorification or sainthood, but homage in enduring great trial and tragedy and giving a life of unselfish, productive service.

He was certainly flawed, but I would disagree with you on dysfunctional. This man brokered more legislation in the Senate than any other in the modern era. Capability like that would be impossible with dysfunction.

The story is all over the net, it was reported in the Washington TImes, The Gentleman's Quarterly, and the Penthouse and today Rush simply brought it out of the attic, dusted off the story, and rereported it.
Afterall, if some of you want to honor Ted Gluck Gluck Kennedy, then you need to have all of his Bio presented. Of course, I am sure all of you who will defend Kennedy will do so forgetting that the Waitress was assaulted in the above incident. But, that don't matter because Kennedy took from the rich and gave to the poor so gets a pass.
Ignorance of the law and being a Kennedy let you get by with everything but murder it seems.

I meant dysfunctional in his drinking and womanizing, East, Your point is absolutely correct regarding his accomplishments in the Senate, and how it took a great amount of talent and intelligence to do what he did.

And now they are having a special news break for his funeral during Young and the restless. I would rather hear what plan Jack and Jeffery have to bring down Victor than to watch this funeral for someone I know nothing about.

Ted has his issues.
We all do.
Does that make us bad people?
Or just people?

instead of just repeating an allegation as if it was gospel?

instead of just repeating an allegation as if it was gospel? That would mean *gasp* he would have to do some research and might just find what is fact from fiction...the thought Gallow..

Angel, sorry, but Kennedy had a very serious problem as a womanizer to the point that one night, with Senator Dodd in the same room made a 'Human Sandwich out of a waitress.
Ya and what I read from what the waitress and the manager said from the restaurant, Kennedy and Dodd were pretty drunk, and acting drunk! Men act real stupid when they are out and drunk...LOL. I never met a drunk that didn't...another LOL.
Besides, they both had a date and their dates went to the restroom when Kennedy pushed the waitress on his lap in the chair and then he sat on top of her sideways! The kitchen help, other waitresses and the manager witnessed the whole thing, which the incident only lasted a couple of minutes. Kennedy had a right to be on a date, for he was divorced (1982) from his alcoholic wife Joan, which she never would stop drinking. She was found passed out on a set of stairs outside one time and ended up in rehab so many times as well as barely surviving kidney failure.
Ted and Joan were married in 1952...married 32 years!!! LMAO!
My dad told me all men are pigs, especially when they are drunk...
