August Unemployment at 9.6% nationally and rising...

...Locally, we are now at 17% drawing unemployment benefits and if the Current Population Survey is correct from some 60,000 households, government reports the national unemployment rate at 9.6% and climbing almost vertically.

...From the charts, there is no end in sight. From our government, nothing is being done to create employment, thus diminishing tax dollars collected and still, Congress contemplates more ways to spend borrowed money.

Unemployment rate

Bandt: Oklahoma between 6 and 7%

...You can hold the mouse point over any spot on the graph and obtain the date and rate of unemployment... Oklahoma was 6.4% in August, although the individual counties vary and sometimes a lot.

...If you ever wondered how the Federal government comes up with these monthly unemployment figures, some 2200 government workers are employed to take the census from 60,000 households.

How the Federal government measures unemployment.

Its between 7 and 8% here in Wisconsin.
I have noticed something peculiar.Except for previous customers I get most of my job leads from the internet company Service Magic and I dont advertise.
I get two or three leads per day and if I want to check out those jobs I either accept the lead or deny it.
If I accept they charge me between $10 and $40 for the customers name.I dont get the job just the chance to make a proposal on it.
Ive been so busy Ive denied almost 80% of those leads but so are the other contractors because to make their customers happy with their program, after I deny them they send many to me free.
Because nobodies taking them.

I could hire additional help and take on more work but after factoring in the cost of additional insurance, the paperwork tells me not to.

Jankia: Its between 7 and 8% here in Wisconsin.

...Is it dropping there Jankia? It says 8.4% in July and down from a high of 9.4% in March for the state. Maybe click on your county and see what the local unemployment is.

...Do you have a website Jankia? If so, send me an email with the link and I will show you how to get those local leads yourself for free; local search engine optimization is easy.

You should have let Big Ears know about your prediction; he promised to cap it at 8% if the stimulus package was quickly enacted.

What's your new prediction?

The unemployment rate rose to 9.8 percent in September as employers cut far more jobs than expected, evidence that the longest recession since the 1930s is still inflicting widespread pain.

Ok tiny dick and wrinkle balls, since you made childish name calling acceptable, and asked,

my new prediction,
You will still continue to lose hair and gain weight,
You grow more childish as you lose your cognitive skills due to old age and a bad disposition.
You'll meet integrity vs. despair with more of the despair then integrity.
And I will still feel pity for you.
That we will see a slight improvement do to the holiday sales, but reports will be that service lacked, there will be lots of complaints.
That come Aprilish 2011 the job market will really start to heal itself. And fall of 2012 all levels will be back to normal.

I mean after all you did ask.

And you wish I wasn't correct why?
What a fool. LOL HAR HAR FRICKEN HAR.
Thanks for giving me once again the chance to say, I TOLD YA SO, since I TOLD YA SO, fool.

Kind of incorrect.
Worse recession, maybe, thank you Bushy Jr., since the 30's
but the unemployment rates was this bad back in 82, 83, and 84. Under a REPUBLICAN president. That changed, people got back to work, just as they will again.
Time fixes pretty much everything.

Good news, no it's not. NC was one of 16 states where unemployment declined and had 7,000 new jobs created. The unemployment rate in NC has dropped from 11.1 in May to 10.8%. Link to the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Specific BLS link to NC.

According to the BLS, New York's unemployment has increased to 9%; however, the rate of unemployment here, like in other states, is not uniform. The city of New York's unemployment rate has been below the state average, despite the failure of Lehman Brothers and other Wall Street lay-offs. On a strictly anecdoctal basis, the number of new jobs being advertised on the NYT online has gone up.
