obama and the upchucking nobel prize

I saw this on another political forum page and thought it was bull shit.

I read the f***ing story, and it is still bull shit.

Obama did nothing to earn this prize. In fact, history tells us President Reagan did more in one day of his time in office for the cause of peace than Obama will ever do in his short four year '1' term.

I am sure some of you think Obama is your Messy-iah but that is your delusion.
Obama is a dip stupid shit and someday all of you libs will know it.

Nobel observers were shocked by the unexpected choice so early in the Obama presidency, which began less than two weeks before the Feb. 1 nomination deadline.

Wonder who paid off the committee...

Obama obviously has a desire to bring the world together. He is working very hard toward that end goal.

Some of you can't stand it if he doesn't something right or good. Why don't you take off your partisan hat and give credit where it is due?

He is changing the way the world has come to view us and to me that is a very good thing.

No wonder he's having trouble with a decision whether to send more troops to Afghanistan.

How can one be a recipient of the Nobel Peace Prize while having troops in two wars?

Rather ironic. Kind of makes the Nobel Peace Prize an oxymoron.

Bj, what b.s. to think Obama has done squat. He hasn't done shit and all the committee can come up with is that Obama has a f***ing vision.

What vistion
That he apologizes to all the despots in the middle east and apologizes all over the world for the U.S. pasts?

Obama is an empty suit with no work experience, and barely showed up for his senate duties. ANd now he does nothing as president so they give him the prize.

Perhaps the committee is hoping he won't push the button.

Maybe we'll get really lucky, and this will push Glenn Beck into another frothing, foaming-at-the-mouth on air rant until he suffers a full-blown apoplectic fit.

Maybe you'll get really lucky and Obama will realize that sending more troops to the Middle East would not be in sync with his recent peace award - and he'll bring the troops home.

Although, with the troops brought home, unemployment would be even higher. So, I guess, sending more troops to war is economically more viable, although not exactly "peaceful".

To me he has already had a major accomplishment and that is to bring most of the leaders in the world back to working together for common goals. He has also given hope to many people around the world that if people work together, they can accomplish many things. Why are those accomplishments being treated as nothing by the republicans?

We should all be proud that our president won the award.

Whether or not he won it for political reasons, there's no arguing all of the objection has been for political reasons.

It might be wrong for me to find that amusing, but so be it.

Is it political to find the irony in a peace award being given to someone involved in two wars?

Is it politics to say, hey, what about those that were nominated that actually DID something, and didn't just have "vision"?

It is not about his politics (for me) but simply, that he has not DONE anything to actually deserve this award, other than having "vision".

If his "vision" was really clear towards peace, he would bring the troops home, and there would not need to be a "decision" on whether to send more.

He wasn't the one who started the wars.

Since taking office he has started the process of ending the war in Iraq.

He is in the process of defining the goal and how to get there in Afghanistan.

He has also stopped the practice of torture.

He is in the process of closing a prison that has not only condoned torture, but practiced it.

He has met with world leaders to stop producing and storing nuclear weapons and they are glad to have our president make an effort toward this.

I think he is off to a pretty good start towards a more peaceful world and I hope he gets us out of Afghanistan long before our general wants to leave (which is 10 years to forever)

Of all the things you've listed, only one has actually been (supposedly) accomplished. All others are "in the process". Until they are actually "fait accompli" - they cannot be termed as "done".

And no, he did not start the wars - but he hasn't pulled the troops out of there, either. And IMO, if one was truly "peaceful", one would have done that as soon as one became president. Not "deciding" whether to send more troops in or not. That's a peaceful measure.

On the contrary ... That's rather consistent criteria on the part of Nobel commitee . Now he's in "good" company - right next to the other "peacemaker" ,
unfamous terrorist leader Yassir Arafat...

Lacy: Wonder who paid off the committee...

...

...He was nominated before he even took office and what did he do prior?

...Gandhi did not even win it.

...Next, they will be awarding the NPP posthumously, to such people as Hitler.

...I thought the NPP had lost it's value with Arafat, but now, with this token idiot in receipt, I would have to throw it in the garbage on the way out the door.

...But, at least Obama stated he did not deserve it and maybe it is one of those "pay forward" expectations by reciprocity... "you got it, so you have to live up to it."
