The year was 1961. But it might as well have been today.
This was Ronald Reagan speaking out on how socialists use health care as a tool to to trick the public into going along with an agenda that they otherwise would never agree to.
It's deja vu all over again people. Only this time we don't have Ronald Reagan to stop them.

Well, I managed to listen to 8 minutes of his rant against "socialized medicine" because it's "socialized medicine." Funny that what he was arguing against is one of the most popular programs in the history of the country. Where is that little old man to tell Reagan "Keep your government hands off my Medicare!"

Night: Funny that what he was arguing against is one of the most popular programs in the history of the country. Where is that little old man to tell Reagan "Keep your government hands off my Medicare!"
...You forgot to mention a program, that in it's very short life span, has failed and now with it's counterpart for welfare, Medicaid, both need bailed out under the pretense of national health care... which the very basis is founded upon another system that has failed before it even starts.
...Rather than a proven system that could survive and not simply force millions upon millions of new policies into health insurance, the very same entity the liberals have consistently claimed was raping America and driving up the cost of health care, while lowering the quality, their hypocrisy suddenly endorses the further raping of America by same.

It's 50 years ago and it's the EXACT SAME scam that Obama and the Democrats are trying to pull off today.
Get a foot in the door and then force people into a health care program that they would never voluntarily support.
Everyone knows they won't be satisfied until they have a completely government controlled plan. Obama himself stated numerous times that this is the goal, and so have many of the other Democrat Bolsheviks that are pushing this scam.
They know they cannot win if people are told what the details are, so they are taking every possible measure to keep them from the public until it is too late to stop them from passing into law. They are using every conceivable trick they can to hide their agenda from the public and hoping they can pull the wool over enough people's eyes while they work their evil and deceptive plan.
It's an outrageous and despicable perversion of democracy that should outrage anyone who calls them self an American.

The scam was on the part of Reagan and his ilk. "Ask people if they want "socialized" medicine, and they will reject it!" The bugaboo is nothing more than the word "socialized." The entire message was concocted for emotional impact based on lies and misperceptions, and constructed to strike fear in the hearts of the "better dead than red" generation..
"Ooooh.. it's Soooo-cislism! it's EEEeeeVillll! They'll tell doctors where they can practice!" (Notice that little prediction hasn't come true in 40 years?)
Do people think every person in this country should have access to healthcare? Yes. Are the majority of voters of the opinion that there should be protections for people so they don't have to lose their homes and livelihoods because they got sick? Yes. Do Americans want "socialized" medicine? Ohhh, Noooo.... it's SOoooo-cialism!"
The majority of Americans want a public health option. But the majority, yet, are still too stigmatized by the mere word "socialist" to accept it, if it is called that. Too bad more of them can't see this propaganda for just what it is.

True and good point.
It's another example of how the parties have switched roles since then, I've always maintained that JFK -- once the poster boy for the Democrats -- would be a Republican today. He was for strong defense, lower taxes and strong private sector economics.
Or more accurately, the Republicans have become yesterdays liberals, and the Democrats have become something between socialist and Marxist.
Missing is the one thing that more Americans identify with than any other ideology -- conservativism.

Millions spent to sway health care opinions
(CNN) -- The amount of money lobbyists are spending on health care reform could break records, and now that the five bills before Congress have cleared committee, that spending is expected to go into overdrive.
Lobbyists are hitting the Capitol to schmooze lawmakers.
"It is sort of a Super Bowl of lobbying for health care reform. The lobbyists are winning so far. But the game's not over yet," said Rep. Jim Cooper, D-Tennessee.
As lawmakers work to come up with a plan that can make it to President Obama's desk, industries and interests close to the issue are digging deeper into their pockets to sway public opinion and those in office.
The insurance industry launched its first air attack with an ad aimed at seniors.
"Most people agree we need to reform health care, but is it right to ask 10 million seniors on Medicare Advantage for more than their fair share? Congress is proposing more than $100 billion in cuts to Medicare Advantage," the ad says, referring to the private insurance plan Medicare offers to some recipients.

In addition to the battle with the insurance industry, liberal reform supporters and armies of special interest groups are entering the fray.
And there's also a ground offensive: Lobbyists hitting the Capitol to schmooze lawmakers. Members of Congress feel they're getting slimed.
"I rise just days before Halloween to unmask the insurance industry," said Rep. Donna Edwards, D-Maryland. "Now, we see the industry and their lobbyists for what they are, a little shop of horrors."

This is a different time, a different land, things have changed, mass areas of civilization has grown.
Reagan, was at times, a good leader and politician. That was then, this is now. This now, belongs to Obama. His programs and policies are working. At a much faster rate then any other leaders of our great home. Unemployment has slowed, the markets are climbing, the housing and construction are warming up, the reccession is over. War are all but completely out of Iraq, We have more students entering colleges then ever before. All good things.
I will switch sides the day I see a republican give due of credit for anything positive about Obama, or the other people across the line.

Health Fraud & Scam:
Here’s a bold, but true statement. 
Everyone who wants health care in America can have it!
• It is federal law that a hospital emergency room cannot turn you away
• Most illegal aliens get their health care this way-everything from routine to emergency care, and ACLU, La Raza, etc. make damn sure no one asks any questions in the emergency room (lawsuit time if they do)
• All the homeless can also get health care at emergency rooms. Many, when broke or it's cold/hot outside will call 911 and get a free bed & meal for the night.
• Anyone at the poverty level or below gets free health care from state welfare agencies, sometimes money from the states, but mostly funded by the federal government. For example, in California its Medi-Cal. Money and programs are also directly available from the federal government
• Children of families of up to 3 times the poverty rate are covered by SCHIP
• Medicare for people who worked and are 65 and over
• Medicaid for those who didn’t and for disabled
• If you are over the poverty level, you can afford health insurance if it’s a priority to you
• Veterans get health care
• Indian Health Service for the tribes
• Everyone who calls 911 is helped onsite or shipped to a hospital, free if you are of the dependency class, insurance otherwise
• Colleges and universities usually have some sort of student health service partly paid by tuition, the rest by taxpayers

The biggest cause of the breakup of families is, IIRC, money problems.
And the biggest cause of money problems for familines, again IIRC, is catastrophic medical bills. (It doesn't take much to push most families over the edge).
The family-friendly right-wing should be behind providing some relief to families, to help keep families together.
